I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (December 19), this was the basis for our Sunday School Lesson of the Day. It was entitled "Justice and the Righteousness Reign." This passage will most likely be read in churches this Friday Night, which is Christmas Eve. There are two beloved hymns that go with this Scripture: O Come, O Come, Emanuel, and Joy to the World, the Lord Is Come! And here is hoping that everyone reading this has a Merry Christmas.
Thank you Dr. John Piper for your clear explantion. I greatly appreciated it. English is my second language and my English is very poor. I am studying the book of Isaiah with BSF. I could answer the questions as homework after watching your teaching.
Can you do a video about the warning about being reprobate and the signs please I have an Addiction that just won't go away no matter how much I pray about it. God bless you.
It is a dead-end to wonder/worry/obsess/self-examine, etc. whether or not you are a reprobate. Salvation is only and all in Christ. Keep looking to Christ in the promises of the Bible. (e.g. Matt. 11:28-30) God grant's repentance, right?
After doing a deep study of the original text and various translations and considering the quote of Isa 9:1 by Matthew 4:15, as a prophecy of Jesus it should have been translated as follow: Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. AT FIRST he will be INSIGNIFICANT in the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, BUT LATER he will become GREAT in Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan Interpretation: Jesus fulfilled this because when he first came in Capernaum after the baptism, no one knew who he was, he was a nobody, but later when he got to Galilee and started His ministry he became known to many and his reputation preceded him. He gained many followers. In the traditional translations this prophecys is lost and there is no connection with how it was fulfilled.
God Gave us Jesus..A Most Beautiful Example..Gods Son..Teaching and Obeying Gods Laws..and Showing us How to Do The Same! God Warns Us of Pride..Lust..Greed..Anger and Worry. Jesus Taught and Lived Gods Laws. There is No Other Way..Folks! Repent of your creative ways of thinking you are going to be saved some Easy Way!
kathleen Wharton Jesus taught soundness of mind, sinlessness, and many forms of perfection. Your past comments on other vids confirm that you don’t believe in any of these truths.
+Mr. C.. Obeying Gods Laws..Not men's laws..Are Sound Mind! One of Jesus Most Important Laws is Forgiveness! When I make a mistake I can Forgive myself and others and Move Forward with more wisdom and Live Better. I have suffered from my Pride..Anger..and Worry. And I Know exactly what a Sound Mind is! Living without These sins as best I Can. Why would you ever think it Woud Be a Sound Mind..To choose to Live in Pride..Lust..Greed..Anger and Worry? Are you seriously? Of Sound Mind?
kathleen Wharton “As best you can”? That’s not scriptural. Perfection is the required command. Why would we be sent a perfect example if it were impossible for us to do the same? That’s mockery. You know the perfection scriptures...why do you doubt them? Why do you question sinlessness? I know why.... Question is...do you?
+Mr. C..Gods definition of Perfect is "that He is Kind to the good and the evil..the just and the unjust." Jesus is My Teacher. I really don't care what you think.
kathleen Wharton Perfection is described as one who’s never wrong in their words. Question: what are Gods gods laws vs. man’s laws? Give examples of man’s law please. Thank you!
6:29 you know better than to say such a thing, "Jewish" ONLY applies to the he single tribe of Judah. That's a VERY SERIOUS error in identifying the tribes!!!

@@thehardertheyfall2702 What church do you belong to?

Your addiction is not your sin. Using it as a viable source of identity is. You are so much more than a physical desire.
@@mr.c2485 Well I'm basically tired of most Christian's spitting on my testimony when I know for a fact my walk with God is not in VAIN.

Your original comment contradicts what you just said.
My bible say in verse 3 : Thou hast multipled the nation, NOT increased the joy... ?Why do you read increased in joy?
So what this means?
