    Been in the middle of Garfish when they went off like this in Port Phillip off Altona. 4 minutes of magic and then gone.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  4 месяца назад

      Yeah its common to see thousands of gars busting up and often dolphins rounding them up when this happens too.

    A similar thing to this happened to me I was out at Warneet late at night and we had the flood lights on and the minnows were hang in around the lights then all of a sudden a massive school of yakkas (yellowtail scad) came past and as far as you could see in front of the boat they were going crazy so I casted a soft plastic out and I ended up catching about 100 (kept about 8) and it lasted for an hour!

      @fishingmad  8 месяцев назад

      That's awesome, its amazing how thousands of them just pop up and disappear so quickly. We have some very healthy systems in Victoria and its so good when you find yourself in these situations surrounding by thousands of fish busting up and feeding. Warneet has been fishing well this past few weeks, I need to get back there and finish some content. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for the tips on plastics. One of the channels I watch ladybass from Ontario Canada area is taking some classes in Australia! Ask her to check your channel out for tips while she’s there! Have a great week here in Ohio spring fishing is just kicking off!

    Well done, buddy. That just looks absolutely awesome. Looks like you were having a ball and all them fish are absolutely great to see in numbers like that. Shame all the seas round the world don’t have the quality like this. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. You enjoy and keep on catching them Fish and doing them amazing videos. Well done sir and all the best to you and yours 👍👍😁😁🎣🎣

    When will you go back to Port Melbourne polls for kayak fishing

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  8 месяцев назад +1

      I try to mix up the locations and species so there is a lot of variety for viewers. I might head back down there in the coming weeks, I also need to try the new Altona pier for something different too.

    Hi Al are you using the electric motor again on the yak?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  8 месяцев назад

      I use it every now and again, I prefer fishing with the mirage drive as I really enjoy getting the exercise. But the electric still works well. I prob use it 1 in every 5 occasions out.

    Hey mate, just wondering where to fish land based around the Werribee to Altona area these days. Used to fish around those areas a few years ago but then Acquired a house in Apollo Bay and have been fishing there since. But I do still live around here and want to try it again. So where are the locations where there might still be decent fish because whenever I go around the Werribee river area for a look, I see 20 fishing rods and people keeping 70cm flatties. Is there anywhere you would recommend?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  8 месяцев назад

      land based fishing needs a revamp in our local areas a lot of the spots have been closed down. The new Altona pier just opened, you can fish some parts of wyndham harbour rock wall, the warmies near port melb or venture up to Geelong and fish the piers and jetties like Cunningham and st Helens.

    Hey alan, Great video, Question how much does a decent fishing kayak cost? one good enough to be stable

    • @orlandobeer
      @orlandobeer 8 месяцев назад

      Around 1.5 k and over man they are expensive as but they are worth it

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  8 месяцев назад +1

      I've tested so many yaks over the past few years and honestly you really do get what you pay for in the kayaking space. There are heaps of entry level ones under 1k that come with heaps of cool features but in my experience they haven't been the most stable platforms. The best bet sometimes is to try and pickup a 2nd hand kayak at a bargain price like a hobie or even a native watercraft that are known for good stability and features. It would be awesome to see in the Aussie market good mid tier options that provide good stability but in Aus it seems like there is a massive gap between entry level and top level and not much inbetween.

    Hi Al, As usual a top video but I have one disappointment. Your previous video was great , because you said that you were fishing the Point Wilson-Kirk Point area. This video was in Port Phillip Bay? Somewhere between Port Melbourne and The Rip, I take it. I don't expect you to give GPS marks but it would be nice if you mentioned the area you are fishing. Altona, Black Rock, Portarlington, Mornington Etc,Etc. (not giving too much away). I am a Fishing Mad member and I can truly say that it is a little amount of money well spent. The list of GPS marks and all the hints and information is fantastic. I hate to knock you in anyway Al because you do amazing work, both here on RUclips and with your Fishingmad members. All the best Al.
