  • This week I make a simple awl using an old torx driver and a piece of walnut. It's a simple but useful tool. Thanks for watching!

Nice Donny! It's also the first and only tool I made for my shop. Very handy little thing to have around.

Cool project and reuse of an old tool for something new. In fact, you may have inspired me to decide what my first project in my new forge is going to be. :)
Tips: If you pick up a set of cheap end wrenches & sharpen the short leg, you can easily make tenons of the size of the wrench. It'll get you very close on the size of the tenon.
I don't know what type of finish "Doctor's Woodshop Pens Plus" is, but if it's shellac, rub a little onto the ferrule & blade to prevent corrosion. You'll never know it's there otherwise. Some of the tools I've made 2-3 years ago, even those made out of plain carbon steel & stored in my basement shop year-round, are still shiny.

Very cool project. You had me laughing, why spend 7 dollars on something you can make yourself for 23 dollars. That was great. Keep up the great work. Take care.
