@@GoldspotPens another tip to keep ribbons from fraying-run the edge very quickly through the flame of a lighter. Used to do it weekly with the ribbons on my pointe shoes. 🩰
I like the features of these journals. I have not had the opportunity to try the Endless journal yet. That’s why I follow you because you introduce me to product I probably would not have tried otherwise.
I absolutely love Rhodia products. Using their 2023 daily for my guitar practice journal. I have a bunch of "cheap Amazon fresh" notebooks I have to burn through before I go back to using the Rhodia for journaling again. 2024 I am planning on possibly switching to Hobonichi for my journaling. The 5 year looks like it would be cool to have.
Leuchtturm 1917 is my go to journal, but I'm constantly trying other notebooks too. I've been using Minimalism Art notebooks a lot lately, as they are a third of the price and have decent paper. I use fountain pens exclusively and have never had any issues.
I actually use all three! The Leuchtturm is great for meetings because the ink seems to dry faster. The Endless is great for inks. The Rhodia is a perfect in the middle of the road everything will write on and look good kind of notebook.
I've tried both the Leuchtturm and the Endless Recorder with Tomoe River Paper, they both have things I like, so it's hard to choose! I think I might choose Endless notebooks just because of how their paper ensures your ink colors will shine!
Thanks for the comparisons, this is good to know! I've been using the Endless Recorder for a couple years now. Seems to be my go-to. I did get a Leuchtturm monthly planner this year, and like it a lot. Rhodia quality is fantastic. I have one of their tiny notepads and love it. I should try their journal as well.
I've bought a lot of Leuchtturms! They're my go to for all journaling, bullet and long form. It's hard to expand my collection because I'm tightly constrained by cost, and by my fountain pen use, so the paper is really important. Thanks for going through the comparison!
I've watched a lot of reviews, but only subscribed to your channel. Why? Because of the organised way you present your material, editing so that the three notebooks are listed with comparative spec, and I can always see which notebook you're talking about, because you put its name on the screen in case we missed it! Thanks for doing a good job.
The Leuchturm monthly planner is the best journal for school and work. It's such a pity it's getting more expensive and more difficult to buy online. They also used to do embossing 😔
Those are literally the bullet journals I’m eyeing right now. Except for the endless recorder, I wasn’t aware of that brand tbh. 😂😂 Still I think the Leuchtturm has a slight edge as a dedicated bullet journal, especially if you’re new to it like me.
Great to hear the differences from someone who's used them all. Haven't used regalia paper yet, but I do love the feel of Rhodia paper. I do have an A6 lined Leuchtteurm booklet I've used in the past, couldn't handle a FPR ultra flex nib at all.
Since you liked Rhodia the best (and you were randomly picked as the winner), we're sending you the Rhodia Goalbook seen in this video. Please contact Tom [at] goldspot [dot] com to claim your prize!
I've used both Leuchtturm and Endless notebooks. I like the Leuchtturm but like the Endless better. Both good books though. I used other Rhodia notebooks but haven't tried the Goalbook.
I’m writing in a Rhodia Web notebook right now but from your comparison I think I might like the Endless paper better. Good job on the evaluation of these notebooks. Very thorough.
Great informative video! I, in time, will try all three. They each have pros and cons (mostly pros), so I'll try them and determine which works best for my purposes.
I have been journaling since 1976. At the time I used regular notebooks and ballpoints. In the last two years I fell down the rabbit hole and discovered Rhodia products and fountain pens. Major style and game changer. I have yet to try a 5 year journal, but that could be next in my journaling experience. Great video.
I am excited to try bullet journaling. I am a pen enthusiast and a subscriber to Ink Flight. I have always been a fan of Rhodia. I really like the crispness on the Endless recorder though. Cheers to a new week!
I have tried bullet journaling in the past but I had a hard time keeping track of the symbols and making the logs by hand. It would be nice to try again with the bullet journal branded leuchtturm to see if I could get the hang of it!
Hi Tom! Thanks for another great video. I currently have a 1917 for ink sampling. I use Rhodia for my everyday pen doodles. So I would love to try the Endless Regalia Notebook. ❤🎉
I havent tried any of these. I love the bullet journal features of the leuchtturm, the white pages of the endless, and the pen loop of the rhodia. So which would I try first? Probably the endless as I prefer white pages over ivory.
I journal a lot and use notebooks for study purposes, but no bullet journaling which is why I have yet to try Leuchtturm. Am wrapping up a months-long transcription project of Homer’s Odyssey for which I used Endless Recorder notebooks - 7 in all. Agree it needs a blotter and hand guard as others have said but it is wonderful for showing off inks. I will say though that wetter inks in broader nibs do feather and bleed through a bit - for example, Pilot Parallel 1.5 with Pilot mixable inks. I love Rhodia paper too but am partial to their A4 notebooks, although they only come lined. I appreciate the larger size. I have larger handwriting and burn through A5 notebooks too fast! Thanks for a fun video!
I’ve tried the Leuchtturm1917 and thought I had my mind set on trying the Rhodia until I watched this video. Now I’m wondering if I should go with an Endless instead. Thanks for the comparison.
I don’t bullet journal, but I plan and record my day in a Fiorentina lined journal refill. 400 pages, A5, ivory paper, and I have not had any issues with any fountain pen and ink combo I’ve thrown at it so far this year, including wet shimmer inks. Diarpell makes similar chunky A5 journals with FP friendly paper. Both are Italian companies. I’ll be going back to 100% discbound next year using a variety of papers from Office Depot, Levenger and Amazon.
I use the Leuchtturm bullet journal and am quite happy with it. I hadn't tried bullet journalling before, so the extras were quite helpful (even though I am doing things a bit differently). The paper is better than I had expected. I use all kinds of inks and nibs, including broad ones, and haven't had any problems with show-through. Most of the time, feathering isn't a problem either. It's not brilliant paper for fountain pens, but I find it perfectly adequate for the purpose of bullet journalling. I haven't used the Endless or Rhodia journals, but have used other products from both companies. The Endless might be fun to try for my next bullet journal because of the paper. Currently, I don't do stuff like ink swatches or ink paintings in my bullet journal, but with the Endless, that might change. But that might also be a distraction from the main purpose of the journal.
I love the Rhodia paper for letter writing but I have Leuchtturm a5 notebooks for my bullet journaling. I would love to try the Rhodia for journaling to see how it goes with my fountain pens. Thank you very much for posting the comparisons. I also might get the Endless. Ive heard some good things besides this video too.
I've used the Leuchtturm (love the different assortment of colors), but I would love to try the other two. Because I use mostly EF nibs, I don't see much feathering.
I've been using the Endless for my own bullet journal-ish system for most of year now, and it's solid. The Regalia can be a bit sensitive to finger oils, so having a blotter to rest your hand on of some sort matters in my experience. The Rhodia really appeals as next one I would try.
My vote for my favorite keeps changing. I have only used Rhodia and Leuchtturm, but I have an unopened Endless Recorder with Tomoe River that will be used after my current notebook. Since I use pencil, fountain pens, and other various media types, I lean towards Leuchtturm. Their paper seems to do well with what I throw at it. I am curious about the Regalia paper. I feel like Rhodia is best used with fountain pens, and their ivory paper seems like it should be covered in a story set in Medieval times.
I like the rhodia. The cream color is a nice. I've been using Micheal brand of journals for now they handle ink well enough. All 3 you showed are very nice
Ugh, after I just bought them all for testing, lol. Tyvm for this video I’d agree with your bag dump video. The endless note book are my new favorites. The Tomoe River paper is thinner than the new Regalia paper and the new Regalia paper is more toothy than the Tomoe River paper. I’m finding myself liking the new Regalia paper the best.
TFS. Have used Leustrum & Rhodia in other products in their line but not these particular ones. Have had Endless on my to try list, after seeing this it's moved up to try next.
Funny, I've used almost the same notebooks you have, in the same order. Began with a Leuchtturm (standard, though, not the BuJo version); followed by a Rhodia Goalbook; then detoured to a Rhodia Webnotebook, which was not a dot grid, because I wasn't bulleting as much at that point; and finally used a TR Endless Recorder (so I haven't had a taste of Regalia paper yet). So out of the three you presented today, I've only really used the Goalbook, and I know I liked that one. In theory, the extra features on the LT BuJo edition are cool, but a) I'm not bullet journaling much anymore (mostly just long form now) and b) I don't know if I could compromise on the paper - feathering and bleed through bug me. I don't write with broads a lot, but I do like stubs, and those can put down even more ink. I think, out of the three, I would probably pick the Endless Recorder as the one I'd most want to get.
I have only tried the leuchttrum, but the rodia and endless looked very interesting! Might have to buy one from you all to test out. But with all of the features I think the leuchttrum looks more high end so I think that one wins this round
This was a great video, very informative! I only have the Leuchturm 1917 but would love to try the Rhodia! I tend to use medium or broad nibs as thicker lines are easier for me to see as a visually-impaired person, and the Leuchturm bleed through, especially with my broad nibs, is frustrating! 😤
I am intrigued by the Endless recorder. I have noticed slight feathering in leuchturm. White pages are my preferred style. I will vote for the Endless.
great comparison, i love all 3 brands generally, but i prefer lighter paper; in spite of extras in the Leuchturm , the Rhodia wins it for me, lighter paper and slightly nicer for the fountain pens, makes the overall journal lighter + pen loop!
I know that I would love the Rhodia because of the paper, but I am surprised that it is more costly than the other two, being the one that seems to have the least special features (apart for the paper, which may explain the price?) I love the Leuchtturm usual 90gsm paper (it works well with F and MF nibs, and it has a slight tooth to it that I like, especially if I write with an oversmooth nib). I am very curious about this thicker version, I wonder if it has the same feel to it.
Great info. I started with the 1917 and then the Endless when they used Tome River paper. I have not tried the new Endless, but I'm sure I might be lucky to win it.😂
For me, Leuchtturm would win. I recently tried out their paper and I just liked it. Also, the amount of features it comes with, seems vast to me. But the choice was not easy. I haven't tested the other papers yet, but I definitley will. My favorite paper is Tomoe River, but I'm still looking for a worthy alternative for "casual writing"
I like the Leuchtturm having a lot of stuff to help on board to bullet journaling, but have been using Clairefontaine paper and have been enjoying it overall, so current experience is probably more like the Rhodia.
I haven’t used any of these notebooks or brands before so either giveaway would be just fine with me. 😉 Based on the information in this review, I would have to give the edge to the Luechtturm1917 since it has a sturdier cover and the three bookmarks.
I can't put in a solid vote. I use a regular Leuchtturm 1917 but haven't tried the Bullet Journal version. Neither have I tried a Rhodia, but it's on my want list. Endless looks pretty nice, too. I love paper and pens and use all that I get. Even the not-so-fabulous paper that comes in some mainstream journals (had to use them, my kids gave them to me and I can't not use a journal). Journals that can handle fountain pens are high on my want list, so maybe I'll give a vote for each one because they all seem pretty great. Sorry, for the indecisiveness.
I would have to go with Endless, though I havent tried the Regalia paper yet, I love a hard cover, and I don't want to take my chances with feathering on the Leuchtturm paper (though the regular leuchtturm notebooks have pretty good paper, i do get some feathering/bleed through with some inks) Rhodia is nice too but I think I prefer white paper!
Great comparison. I’ve used all of these before during my search for the “perfect” journal 😂. I currently use the Endless journal and think it’s swell. I wish Rhodia would make a white paper goal book.
You seem to get a lot of bang for your buck with the Leuchtturm, but for me it’s all about performance. I do appreciate that the Rhodia is a vegan alternative, and the pen loop is a nice touch. Thanks for the giveaway!
I use the Rhodia goal book and love it. It meets all my needs. I like the ivory paper which is not super bright in the sun. I am least familiar with the Endless journal.
Tip to prevent bookmarks from fraying: add a tiny amount of clear nail polish to the edge of the tips only! 💅👍
Great tip, thanks!

Rhodia is always my go-to for paper. But, I’d love to try the Endless with its crisp white paper.
I favor Leuchtturm 1917 simply because of the paper feel and colour. And I like that you can barely see the dots.
Great video, Tom. Thanks for doing!

I love all the fun little extras with the Leuchtturm! Especially the dots to make it easy to split the page.

They're all very good, but in the end, I'd select the Rhodia. Why? I think the paper is better than the others. I like the color and texture most.

Leuctturm for BuJo. The look of my ink is less important than the notes I want to keep. Good video! Thank you!
Ugh, after I just bought them all for testing, lol. Tyvm for this video
I’d agree with your bag dump video. The endless note book are my new favorites. The Tomoe River paper is thinner than the new Regalia paper and the new Regalia paper is more toothy than the Tomoe River paper.

I like the Endless at this point from things discussed here, but I will need to hold each one of these in my hands to decide.
Rodia since that is the one that I haven't tried yet. All of them great choices as picks for bullet journals but ones that area also FP friendly!

Im planning to get into journaling, for both professional and personal use. Should I get 2? One for work and another as a sort of diary?
I am intrigued by the Endless recorder. I have noticed slight feathering in leuchturm. White pages are my preferred style. I will vote for the Endless.
Have you ever tried Archer & Olive dot grid journals, with 160 gsm paper?
I tend to favor Rhodia and Clairefontaine products, but I've used all three of these journals and you really can't go wrong!
I enjoyed watching the Bullet Journal Battle! I would chose the Rhodia notebook!
This is a hard choice as I like all of them, however for me it would be the Endless Recorder for a change of paper. Good video and thx 👍🏻😄
great comparison, i love all 3 brands generally, but i prefer lighter paper; in spite of extras in the Leuchturm , the Rhodia wins it for me, lighter paper and slightly nicer for the fountain pens, makes the overall journal lighter + pen loop!
My vote goes to the Rhodia. I like the combination of paper quality and flexible cover. Great comparison - Thanks, Tom!
I’ve wanted to try a Rhodia! Never used the “Bullet Journal edition” Leuchtturm, but like their products. I’ve used many others in the past.
I know that I would love the Rhodia because of the paper, but I am surprised that it is more costly than the other two, being the one that seems to have the least special features (apart for the paper, which may explain the price?)
I love the Leuchtturm usual 90gsm paper (it works well with F and MF nibs, and it has a slight tooth to it that I like, especially if I write with an oversmooth nib). I am very curious about this thicker version, I wonder if it has the same feel to it.
I have tried all three brands and my favorite journal is the Endless. I heard that the Regalia paper is very good. The journal I used had Tomoe River.
I’d love to try the endless regalia paper. Looks beautiful 😍
Great info. I started with the 1917 and then the Endless when they used Tome River paper. I have not tried the new Endless, but I'm sure I might be lucky to win it.😂
I have an Endless that I'm currently using for writing samples of my inks. I want to try a Leuchtturm one of these days.

For me, Leuchtturm would win. I recently tried out their paper and I just liked it. Also, the amount of features it comes with, seems vast to me.

I do use a leuchtturm and enjoy it but would love to try the rhodia as well, very interesting video
I'm leaning towards the Endless, because I prefer white paper. But the Leuchtturm has a lot of extras that make up for the off-whiteness of it.
I haven’t used any of these notebooks or brands before so either giveaway would be just fine with me. 😉 Based on the information in this review, I would have to give the edge to the Luechtturm1917 since it has a sturdier cover and the three bookmarks.

I like all the extras in the lecturn journal. Stickers are good.
Lots of good things about all three. Ultimately, I think I’d pick Endless for the bright white pages.
Not currently a bullet
journalist. But I like the idea of it. I guess I’d need the how to Leuchttrum to learn how.
I would like to try the Endless notebook. I have a strong preference for completely white paper.
Rhodia notebooks are always my go-to. But, I am now really curious to pick up an Endless Recorder.
You seem to get a lot of bang for your buck with the Leuchtturm, but for me it’s all about performance. I do appreciate that the Rhodia is a vegan alternative, and the pen loop is a nice touch. Thanks for the giveaway!
I use a Bullet Journal to log my sewing knitting and crochet projects.
The Rhodia Goalbook is my choice. Good paper, easier to carry. A dab of white glue on the end of ribbons keeps them from unraveling
I use the Rhodia goal book and love it. It meets all my needs. I like the ivory paper which is not super bright in the sun. I am least familiar with the Endless journal.
The calendar in the Rhodia notebook gives it my vote!
They all seem amazing. Rhodia would be my pick.
