When I was 11 years old my big brother, 10years older than me , gave me I Jan Cremer to read. He had always given me the books he had finished so it was normal forr me to read adult books. I read it, I loved it, I discovered a love for motorcycles,, long road trips, talking to strangers, north Africa and adventure. I stupidly took the book to school, the nuns saw it, checked it and I was iinterviewed in a nasty way by a school inspector about my knowledge of the 'words' in the book. 11 years old girl being asked by a bespectacled old man, 'what does cunt mean?'..... Melbourne Australia in the early 70's Catholic school, oh my! But the book, silly as it was, shaped my life, I am so happy to have spent my life riding motorcycles across countries, to have lived and loved among strange cultures and to now be middle aged living in China and still remember this artist.
