    The ENLIGHTENED EQUIPMENT REVELATION 20 QUILT snp.link/b9b3abeb
    is one of the most popular backpacking quilts in the entire backpacking market for a good reason. Along with the very similar Enlightened Equipment Enigma it’s our top pick at Adventure Alan for a backpacking quilt. This is due to it getting near top marks for warmth to weight ratio (4.8) and had an and an equally great rating for value (4.6 warmth/cost). In short, you get low weight, great performance, and quite reasonable cost. In comparison, most UL down sleeping bags for the same temperature rating, are heavier, and far more costly - some nearly double the price of the Revelation. And quilts can easily handle a much broader temperature range than sleeping bags, easily adapting to both warm and cold conditions. Bottom line, the Revelation Quilt is a near perfect blend of low weight, high performance and high value.

    Great video, I was a bit disappointed to recently learn that EE uses duck down in my 850 fill revelation. I didn’t know at the time purchase that they only offer premium goose down in the 950 fill quilts

    I have a question. Since it doesn't "close" all the way in the backside, how are you able to use it in cold temperatures? Shouldn't the cold air leak somewhere "in", since it's not fully closed? Or shouldn't your back start feeling cold since it's touching the sleeping pad? And for example if you're side sleeper, is there going to be your backside somewhat opened? Or am I just not understanding how it works :D Sorry for being stupid here

      Hi. Good Qs. First you should read our post on sleeping quits. And look at our video on them as well. And our post and & videos on sleeping pads. They will answer your Q in great detail. And I do think we are the experts on this.
      But the very short answer is the same way you keep the blankets over you on your bed at home. Well, the quilt is a bit narrower so you need to take a bit more care to keep it over you. And most ground sleepers get a wider quilt, ~55" to get lot of coverage/extra drape so this is not all that hard. And the down under you does no good to keep you warm. It's all compressed so has no warmth. What keeps you warm IS your sleeping pad. That is why we rec' a very warm one. Either the "Women's" NeoAir or the XTherm. Hope this helps, -alan

    How long was the quilt out of your pack before your filmed that. Does not look like much loft.

    • @adventure_alan_co
      @adventure_alan_co  3 года назад

      Not all that long. And in fact, the loft is just fine for a +30 F quilt. Be sure to see our our post on Quilt and Sleeping Bag temperature ratings www.adventurealan.com/supporting-data-backpacking-sleeping-bags/. The Quilt is legit +31 F. Best, -alan

      @@andrewhowie4217 I've only had it down to 27° and was in good shape that night with an under r-valued pad (Uberlite) I think I would have been fine at 20° with my other pad. That said, if I was planning on a 20° night I think I'd be taking a 10° quilt if I had that option.

      I recently bought a Revelation custom 30 and it has hardly any loft at all. In fact, it doesn’t even seem to have enough down in it to fill the chambers. When I hold it up to the light, I can literally see through it in lots of places. I’ve tried redistributing the down but there’s just not enough in there to fill all the gaps. I don’t know if this is normal or not because it’s my first down product and I have nothing else to compare it to but it doesn’t seem right to me. I used it for the first time last week here in the UK. The lowest temp throughout the night was 54F and I was still cold, even though I’m usually quite a warm sleeper.

    • @adventure_alan_co

      The review is for the "2020 Enlightened Equipment Revelation 20 Quilt." The '20' designates +20 F temp rating, their most popular quilt. Best, -alan

    The temperature ratings on this bag is awful. Read the reviews on their on website to back up. I bought the -6c. The temp dropped to around +1c and I was bloody cold. For the money I paid and to have it imported to the UK, I am seriously pissed off. Until you’ve used it on the trail you don’t know how it will hold up, which it DID NOT, and then obviously you can not return it. All the hype around these bags - what a let down!!!

    Bit of a weird video.. All the benefits you mention apply to quilts in general (apart from open vs closed footbox), not to EE or even to the Revelation in particular. It's not compared to other brands (UGQ, Katabatic, Nunatak, etc. ), other temperature ratings, or other models (i.e. Enigma).. If the goal is to make a teaser video to promote the written article (which I completely respect), maybe don't call it a review but a walkthrough or "first impressions".. people expect much more from a "review". Please take this as constructive criticism, I appreciate your work and will read the article!
