    This is amazing i decided to do my English a2 level coursework on these two novels based on the similarities through the theocratic regimes represented in both novels, this is so helpful and I won’t forget to reference you 😊

    I think its important to note that communism and socialism are ideologically related, but not the same thing. Orwell was opposed to Soviet-communism, but not socialism. He was supportive of socialist goals. Heres a quote from a decade after the Spanish Civil war:
    "Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it."
    In fact, he did not view Soviet Russia as socialist:
    "In my opinion, nothing has contributed so much to the corruption of the original idea of Socialism as the belief that Russia is a socialist country. . . . And so for the past ten years I have been convinced that the destruction of the Soviet myth was essential if we wanted a revival of the Socialist movement."
    This is a huge factor for understanding his works and the ideology behind them.
