SFX Makeup Artist Reviews SFX Makeup in Film, from 'The Godfather' to 'Guardians of the Galaxy' - Развлечения
Wow those Marlin Brando comparison pictures are crazy. He really did an amazing job. I always forget that Marlon Brando was so much younger!
If you compare how Max Von Sydow looked towards the end of his life, he also nailed that look in The Exorcist.
This is incredible. Nice to see a guy who has such passion and appreciation for his craft! Respect.
I loved this! I reaaaaally wished he talked about the effects he did for The Lion, The witch, and the wardrobe though. THAT MOVIE WAS MY CHILDHOOD AND THIS IS A MAN RESPONSIBLE FOR IT!!
And it had. SO. MANY. CREATURES.
I love how complimentary and appreciative he is. So generous.
Amazing how accurate were the old-age makeups in Brando's and Max von Sydow's case (compared to their real-life older counterparts).
Anyone else think he has a really cool beard ?
Fraser McCready plot twist........
It’s fake!
Mezza
You stole my comment:(
It's like he has a black beard and that beard has a grey beard.
@@ConnorDoubleYou beautifully put
I have been a media entertainer in the horror genre for ten years now, and Thriller is my absolute gateway. Also, good to see you talking about fx history, Hoops. I met you quite a few years ago at one of your Halloween parties and it was a great moment for me.
He’s got so much enthusiasm! I’d love to see more! Can he review certain genres of special FX eg old age makeup, monster makeup, and also the worst makeup in films?
I know it’s been done to death but I’d still love to see him review the makeup for LOTR, I have so much respect for John Rhys Davies toughing out his allergy to his prosthetics
I really hope this get's a part two!
Awesome! If you make a part two, I'd love to see him talk about the aging make up on the Back To The Future movies
I'm so sad they didn't have any del toro movies in this, especially the first Hellboy movie
Or Pan's Labyrinth. My fav!
If there's a part 2 you should cover the makeup for Mystique in the XMen movies!
The first I saw the change sequence in An American Werewolf was mind blowing, the Thing also was amazing for special effects. Love the movies and the art of makeup.
He didn’t mention the muas behind Gamora and Nebula so I wanna chime in and say Legacy Effects made the prosthetics. Nebula was applied by Alexei Dmitriew and Christopher Nelson. Gamora was applied by Vera Steimberg and Will Huff 👌🏻
Howard! I’ve worked with him, what a lovely, talented man
This guys is awesome!! So knowledgeable and passionate. I was right there with him in his excitement
Get him to review Death Becomes Her!
Does he explain how he got that trained badger to sleep on his chin?
Lol, great comment.
Its actually an elaborate hand weaved badger pelt mixed with silicon adhered to his face
hilarious lmao
His black beard has a white beard
Love it. So many details we miss, so many things explained! Thanks!
This is my favorite part in movies. I'm always stunned about it.
Amazing video. Never realized some of these movies even had those prosthetics
Love the video!!! Your channel is amazing ❤️
I didn't even know that the priest in the exorcist had any make up, amazing!
So much knowledge in one person needs to be treasured 🌟
When I saw «the exorcist» I didn’t know actor Max Von Sydow very well. It had intrigued me to see him in other films; how can he be so young!? I finally learned
that everything was makeup :-) This clip made me want to watch the movie again (my first viewing was a very long time ago) to see the amazing makeup job and to
salute Max Von Sydow who passed away earlier this year.
14:55 to hear him talk about his own beard.
So insightful, great presentarion and passion
Wow the exorcist makeup for the priest is so good. I had no clue it was prosthetics/makeup and he was aged up so much. It was so realistic.
Everyone's talking about his beard, but he has a nice house.
But seriously though, that's a nice beard
Wow, that was really fascinating!
I was really hoping you would talk about the thriller video. thank you!
38 × 5 = "Close to a hundred." Hmmm. Cool video, sweet face blanket, but that "..you do the math part..." 😆
190! Hahaha he's closer to 200 😂
Really great and insightful video. Love your beard, too.
I’m also a sfx makeup artist, and it’s so nice to see videos with other sfx artists!
This is great!!! I'd love to hear his thoughts on The Thing.
This was unexpectedly entertaining and educating
This was so amazing to see!
Howard Berger is Amazing!
No Doug Jones?
That is some classic moments in movie make up. Some that I hadn't heard considered.
Not sure that's considered a review though.
I really thought the makeup in Guardians of the Galaxy was criminally underrated.
Loved this video!
I appreciate the look alike make up and age enhancement. To many films plop in actors who may fit the spirit(the majority of us don't see) of a person but not there look, which is an immediate attractor
Love this! Thanks :)
Karen Gillan is beautiful no matter what color she is
This was really cool!
Amazing reaction videos !!
To this day there hasnt been a better werewolf transformation that ive seen
Yes, thank you more please
How did this not get more views?
i love this man's voice
I really enjoy this kind of thing
Great video!
old age in the exorcist?! i was today years old when i learned this
awesome thank you
A little besides the point but at @6:00 he has some really pretty eyelashes.
That werewolf transformation was so good.
Awesome!
Howard was awesome, where's part two?!
Freaked has some of the best effects I've ever seen. Screaming Mad George is who did the effects.
I'm watching obliviously but just noticed how cool his ombre beard is.. I know mad random
I. Loved. This.
Why did they make Gamora's skin greenscreen green? Wouldn't that cause many problems?
pvthitch they usually use bluescreen
Do more videos like this!
I saw bombshell in theatres and 100% noticed the makeup lol. On Charlize it was incredibly subtle, perhaps the best likeness I’ve ever seen crafted out of prosthetics before, but on literally every other character it was terrible to the point of farce. (Look up Richard Kind as Rudy Giuliani if you don’t believe me.)
*Vanity Fair* Perfect as always. Have a good day :p
Using real lions hair must've been great lol
So this guy, Howard Berger, part of KNB effects as he mentioned is partnered with two other guys. Greg Nicotero is the N of KNB, he works on The Walking Dead and so many more films and shows with the special effects team KNB. These guys know their stuff, it’s incredible!
Omg American werewolf in London gave me such nightmares as a kid 😱😂
They have him talk about the scene in kill bill and NOT cover the scalp slice??
It may have been removed because it was too gory.
It's funny he said WereCat because I feed a stray Persian cat and she looks like a cross between a cat and a werewolf.
I really loved this. I had to sell and "review" makeup for all the Ronald McDonalds in the world, and it seems so simple compared to all of this.
I’d listen to this guy drink tea
Peter Stormare is a makeup artist now? Cool.
He does an amazing job on the actors
No matter what makeup Charlize has on, she is always so attractive, even in Monster
She’s a babe
Vsauce, Michael here!
Sick beard, dude!
Howard!!!
the make up on nicole kidman looks like make up
HEY VSAUCE!!!
Oh god, how to unsee
This guy literally looks like Lil Dicky in 40 years.
Hi Michael, Vsauce here
Howard!!!!!!
Thought I was about to get welcomed to Vsauce

Hey Vox, Michael here
Hey Vsauce, Michael here

Howard Berger of KNB!
Omg I hoe he gets invited on corridor crew for a makeup FX review
Yes, that's a video a series I want to see!
Pazuzu possessed regan not the devil
msauce, vichael here
Hey Michael, vsauce here
I honestly came for gamora
Lol
Hey Vsauce. Michael here
hey vsauce
Hello Vanity Fair.
I think you made a mistake, it's VFX, not SFX.
VFX = Visual Effects
SFX = Sound Effects
It's for Special Effects, VFX is reserved for CGI, practical effects in Hollywood was called SFX.
@@BlackEagle352 Oh! My bad. Thx to enlighten me ^^
In the videgame industry, VFX are for visual & SFX for Sound effect.
It's a pity to have 2 industries quite similar but with other therms for the same thing :/
@@MrZekhywelcome...
exactly, not really interchangeable without context, in editing video, i just call it sound FX
I thought the guardians of the galaxy makeup looked so fake and painted/tacked on. It looked like Star Trek make-up
Seems like bombshell was kinda pointless. Theres no need for actors to look dead on like the real life ppl. Close enough is perfectly fine for biopics.
