I get it, when Detroit sucked which was my entire life, I thought preseason and joint practices meant something too. Detroit was always giving max effort in these practices, going undefeated in preseason then would get destroyed game 1 which was always a reality check.

Nabors doesn’t have to be open. Throw the ball up and he’ll get it. DJ knows this and those two are getting great chemistry. I expect big numbers from DJ and Malik this year! Rookie of the Year Malik Nabors!!
I don't know about that. The giants QB is horrid and you need a good QB to get him the ball. I think they need to find another QB to give Malik his grand opening.

Drew Lock is going to have a 15-year career because he's fool's gold, all these QB coaches and OC's are going to think they're the ones who can fix him. When in reality he was never a legit NFL QB prospect, I think that should be obvious by now. I mean it's been 5 years and he still looks like a rookie out there.

they're giving him reps and getting him to run routes in a game situation without getting him hit. It was most likely the coaches who said not to throw to Nabers in pre season

Some of those plays were busted coverage and he still wasn't targeted. Its hard to draw any conclusion from that, good or bad.

The issue is Drew Lock sucks. There's a reason why he's a backup. DJ and Nabers have already showed the chemistry is there. I think since pads the DJ to Nabers connection is like 17/18. And the only incompletion was the toe tap catch that, after reviewing, was indeed a catch. So 18 for 18.

Ok i look at like this if im the coach Nabors would not play in the first 2 preseason games we know what we have in this kid hes already proven can't risk injury second I saw coach in the interview with Nabors and he asked him how would he feel if he don't get the ball the majority of the game coach could also be testing his mindset in this preseason game by not throwing the ball to him

There were definitely plays where Nabers was open, and yet again the line just doesn't protect well. Hopefully this isn't the case when the starters are in, and DJ can do his thing. I also feel that Drew Lock should not be our backup, it should be Tommy DeVito. Tommy throws a beautiful football and has an energy about him. He is being slept on because of where he was pick. That kid is a baller.

That play to right side of the field with safety help could have easily been a completion. The first one to the left would have been much tighter of a window and sideline throw down field.
Nah that 2nd route in cover 2 was WIDE open bro. You let that ball go as he's passing the CB there & it's a TD period. If you're looking at the play after Nabers is 7ds past him then of course the safety can get over there but only a bad QB waits that long.
Issue with that is if the CB sees you winding up to throw he’s gonna carry and make a play on the ball. You can’t lead Nabers there and you can’t underthrow it
It’s a tight window and some elite QBs could fit it in over the CB and before the safety at the sideline but it’s a tough throw
Thats an extremely tough throw to make even for an Elite QB and the safety also let him go because the knew Nabers was alr out of the play.
@@tatesibley20 if a CB is sitting in his zone & Nabers gets even with him it's game over. No human will be able to "carry" him because he's already beat. Yall are used to Madden where a guy covers an insane amount of space when sitting in a zone. Only on Madden can a guy easily pick off a pass intended for a guy standing 10yds behind him. In real life those 2 people are 30ft apart. You won't touch a pass intended for a guy standing 30ft behind you.

He’s open if you have an elite QB but that’s not an easy throw and either gets him absolutely laid out or intercepted best case it just gets knocked away

Also want to point out that Drew isn't that good under pressure. If you are going to make him a pocket passer, you either need a good line or have quick pass plays. Drew can get the ball out very fast if the plays are called for it.
I think Drew had one really bad play and the rest wasn't all that bad. As this guy points out, the D was cover 2 which is a D you don't normally throw deep on. Nabers looked open to the uneducated but he wasn't. The INT was a terrible read and he didn't follow the play....the primary read was the flat which was open. Maybe he didn't know the play well or is an example of Drew trying too hard. That is when he gets into trouble, trying too hard to make a bigger play than needed. The coaching staff in Seattle got him out of that habit but it maybe he has already forgotten that lesson. The rollout to the left and hitting a guy on the sideline 15 yards down field was an awesome read and throw, a throw many QBs in the league can't make on the run throwing against the body.
Both the Giants and Lock took a big hit with him getting injured. It's my understanding he is out for 2 weeks...that is the most important 2 weeks of a backup's season. He will come back with very few reps at a time where the team is focused on the starters and he will not get much reps the rest of the season. This stunts his growth in learning the offense and lets face it, Drew isn't the fastest learner. Once he fully learns the offense and gets comfortable with his WRs, he is pretty good.
There used to be a rule in the NFL that it takes 2 years to learn an offense. Somehow the league has moved beyond that but it seems to be a rule to stick to with Drew. It is worth noting though that his rookie year in Denver he was able to do something that 3 other QBs, including a SB winning QB, couldn't do, win. The team won 4 of 5 games with Drew and the PPG rose under him, but they did that by simplifying the offense for him and running plays that worked with his strengths like rollouts. Drew is average at best as a pocket passer. He is a pretty good runner, but oddly, when he has to escape a pocket he usually gets sacked.

Yet he was sacked less than DJ & much more efficient. Why, because he has pocket presence & can read defenses. Unless DJ had a transformation from the neck up since 2023, it's gonna be the same crap just with more passing yards because of Nabers.

No qb threw well. Grey was the only offense of the game. Not saying Lock is good but expecting Jones to be better is isnt gonna happen. Had plenty of chances in the draft to grab a qb.
