I think its WAY worse to try to get someone to fall in love with you if you have no intention of loving them back. Yeah, Kates character is annoying but 10 days later the person wouldn't be affected by them anymore. IF you fall in love with someone and then they're like JK I don't need you anymore, then you're going to be heartbroken and that will affect you a lot longer.

yeah but he did have the intention of loving her back. they both used each other for work but you can see how they both ended up falling in love. at the end when ben wins the bet the thing he repeats to himself is “she loves me” not “i won the pitch”

You have a right to feel how you feel, but most of that is because you had to witness it first hand. She wasn't out to toy with emotions - just to annoy the hell out of someone until they leave. Ben wanted someone to fall in love with him, whom he'd leave once he got a promotion. He's out to break someone's heart. In that sense, it's good he was with a boundary breaker. They each got a taste.
I just rewatched this movie. And you can seriously tell how they feel about each other just by their eyes and their facial expressions. It's crazy. When they actually fall in love, their eyes just soften when they look at each other. They're both all in at this point. You can see it in their eyes. I also love that they really are perfect for each other. When neither is putting on an act, they just click. They would've fell in love way quicker if they weren't using each other the whole movie 😆
I don't usually like cringe comedy, it does not make me feel good, but this movie, for some reason always managed to stay just above that line for me and the ending was always worth it for me...
I always hated that she reached out to his mom, but then when she meets the family and that moment when she realizes that they are so nice and she doesn't want to do this anymore... ugh, it's so amazing. I would love to see more Rom Coms!

Also maybe it’s like an older thing but I feel like in the past we always got to know/got in touch with parents very early in relationships, maybe not day 3 lol but certainly within the first few weeks. I feel like this new phenomenon of an extended “talking stage” has really changed how people interact when it comes to friends and family (sometimes for the good, sometimes not) so yeah I think it’s wrong for her to contact the family knowing they are going to break up but I think getting to know the family early on in a relationship shouldn’t be looked down on

I agree that it really wasn't cool for Andie to involve the mom in her story (though at least in was "only" over the phone, I guess?), but if everything had gone according to HER plan, Ben would have broken up with her after those 10 days without ever having found out what she was doing. To him it would just be another crazy dating story, no real feelings hurt. But if HIS plan had succeeded (and Andie wasn't writing her story), it probably wouldn't feel too great for her to know that their relationship started because of a bet just so he could get a promotion at work (assuming he would ever tell her?)... I imagine that might cause some trust issues? Buuut, yes, ultimately I do agree that she was a bit more out of line than he was (and hopefully no one has ever experienced this in real life, because my god...). *Analysis over.* 😄
Heck Ya!!! Another person to cringe at this movie but also fall in love with this movie. I agree on the parent line, that was a line that should’ve been mentioned near the ending. Might I recommend checking out Bride Wars has Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson in it. It is kind of a romcom but more of a friend/comedy genre.
Oh I surprisingly remember that movie. I started off not taking it seriously, and then I was crying my eyes off.

I believe everyone has a romantic soulmate and a soulmate who is as connected to another soulmate as one can be regardless if there is blood or not.

It really was the perfect dress not only for the necklace but for her, she has such sunny vibes.
I think in way his attempts are to make her stay while her purpose is to make him leave. He could have leave whenever he thought that it's enough but she would be thinking him as a nice person until he dumpes her out of nowhere.
Just like Miss Congeniality, This is also one of my favorite movies, because My Grandmother had them on VHS and i would rewatch them every time i went to her house XD
He’s more wrong because his intention is to play with her feelings. He wants to make her love him just to play her and treat her like trash he can dispose of once he proves he can manipulate women. She’s being manipulative, but ultimately all she’s trying to do is to annoy him. Her ultimate goal wouldn’t hurt him. She’s trying to get dumped in a new relationship, and even the game it was something SHE had tickets to, it was annoying but like he wouldn’t have even been there without her. At the end of the day, he seeked to hurt her, and she just seeked to annoy him. So he’s more wrong.
I've seen this one multiple times, and it still makes me cringe. 🤣 One I would highly recommend checking out is 'What Women Want' (2000) with Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt. It's such a fun time!

16:18 Much of this scene was improvised. Kate Hudson had the idea to toss the platter of veggies at the guys seated at the poker table. Donald Petrie, the director, knew she was going to do this but the actors in the scene were truly surprised.

i think in some ways andy is better because she tried to make him dislike her, its easy to breakup with someone when all they do is push your buttons and treat you badly, but on his end he's leading her on so that when it didnt work out it would just be more painful for that person since they would just remember the good times and see that it was all lies (just speaking generally)
Everyone keeps forgetting that they connected on the first date, that if Andy didn’t do what she did they would have both fallen in love even without the pitch Ben was doing. They were both surprised how much they liked each other at the start. Pitch or no pitch. When they were at his parents house they were really connecting with each other cause Andy wasn’t being a nutter. So they would have connected if Andy wasn’t doing her thing. 😊
Lots of people use people for sex, lead people on all the time, this is no different. Yes it wrong to do that but it’s no uncommon. But a lot of them start changing when they know each other.

I like this movie and have watched it multiple times. But the ones I re-watch and laugh every time are "The runaway bride" and "Ten things I hate about you". Also "What;s your number?" because it is true on so many levels...

Have you seen "Tourist" with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie? It's an interesting movie, like romantic thriller.

personally i recomment How Do You Know, i've never seen anyone react to it and i like it
