Judging by how he scoffed at the Chamberlain's "petty squabbles" maybe he wouldn't have. Keep in mind he'd be in the wilderness hunting unless somebody blew on the horn (neither SkekSil or SkekUng were going to call him back) and I doubt he'd want to sit in the castle ruling a bunch of despots.
Hunter is probably the best character in motion. It seems weird to say such a thing when there is a person in the puppet, but it just stacks onto the intimidation of how unorthodox Hunter moves compared to his fellowship and how he would be that one being you likely would start running away from if you saw him in an alleyway.
It's because unlike the other skeksis who never leave the castle and abuse the crystal's power constantly, Skekmal does not live in the castle at all, he hunts and lives in the wild free of the excess and sin of his fellow brothers... the more the skeksis abused the crystal the less powerful it got and the more corruption spread...the skeksis got fat, lazy and started to crumble and weaken becasue they abused the crystal the hunter was not apart of that and so his body is still strong....
They such a good job with Skeksis Mal, with how he moves much faster and is clearly physically stronger than the other Skeksis. I was asked why this is, I replied, and I quote. "Becuase unlike the other Skeksis that have been sitting around on their decadent and lazy asses for centuries , he's been running around in the wild and living off whatever he can catch and kill. So he's the most physically fit of them all."
it's also becasue the others have abused the crystal to draw power from thra to sustain themselves... their over excess and abuse has cost their bodies and the land SkekMal did not live in the castle nor did he abuse the power of the crystal like they did, so his body is still strong.
Skekmal's mouth moves more robotically than the rest of the skeksis and his neck is wider and shorter, indicating that there's a very athletic person inside with the same head configuration as the one on Spirit walker's Ghoul where the human head sits on the neck of the creature instead of being a hand moving the head and the right arm while the second person controls the left arm from behind You can also see SkekGra that while not as ripped as the Hunter he's got strong arms, a wide neck and robotic moving jaw.
And he's basically proof that the Skeksis don't need essence. If they weren't so decadent and lazy, they wouldn't need to drain gelfling, which actually diminishes them in the long term.
Honestly when I first saw SkekMal, The Hunter, I was thinking “Dang! He his robust!” He moves more fluidly since he looks like he was lifting weights at the gym.

If Urskeks, Skeksis and Mystics can naturally live well over 1000 years why bother going back to the castle for rejuvenation? In the movie they seem to believe that they will become immortal as Skeksis after the 1000 year period if the shard stays out of the main crystal. Only Skeksis who came from old Urskeks have to worry about dying of old age before the next great conjunction.
1:16 - 1:25 Even though the Crystal is a object, it is literally the heart of Thra and thing of pure good, everytime you see it being locked up like this or chained and being zapped by the Scientist's machine's you feel for it. How the show has this in mind and captures it through visuals is amazing. Aughra talks about the Crystal's importance , pain and her role with it in the series but the camera also lingers on it's "pain" throughout the series to show us just how much pain it's in and how it makes you hate the skeksi aubuse to it even more.
SkekMal you sexy badass boi. In all seriousness this scene was interesting because it seemed Mal maybe had a little affection for Sil? Because anyone else probably would have gotten ripped apart for wasting his time when he was ready to stalk off until Sil explained his mission better.
I think it’s that Mal respects Sil’s drive and ambition, a Skeksi virtue that many of them have forgotten in their luxury. It’s why Mal stays in the forest and constantly challenges himself.

Are we missing 4 Skeksis/Mystics? There were 18 urSkeks that came to Thra & broke the Crystal, splitting themselves into 18 Mystics & 18 Mystics. By the beginning of the movie, only 10 remain. Heretic & Wanderer are chilling in the desert, Archer ended his own life so Hunter would blow up & let Aughra be reborn, Collector got blewed up by the redirected Darkening, and Chamberlain murdered General. Where are the other four?

Two we have yet to see are the Mariner and the Satirist. They were not in the movie too. The third went mad and killed his counterpart right after the split. Fourth one is the mystery and hasn't been accounted for.

Kinda sucky, I know, but plot wise helps Aughra realized what they were and their connection to each other. Their deaths are referenced vaguely by the Ritual Master in Ep.8 when the Emperor speaks of preparations for skekMal's body: skekZok replied there is no such rite as no Skeksis had died since the beginning. YiYa's title among the 18 UrSkeks is unknown, but HakHom was a Carpenter. With the deaths of skekVar, skekMal and skekLach and their counterparts (urMa, urVa and urSen) a total of 13 Pairs are now left alive.

Easily one of the best villains in the series! SkekMal is like the Boba Fett of this series, except he gets more screen time and is a genuine threat
Cathal Carson yeah, SkekMal got more lines in this scene alone than Boba Fett has ever gotten.

As a fan of the extended universe and comics of dark crystal, I freaked out and cheered a little when the hunter and the archer made an appearance.
