    From heaven he came and brought her and for her life he died. That's us the church is US, the body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ is his church. NOT THE BUILDING. Glory to God! Hallelujah!!!

    Lutherans are the singing church. When I was a boy it was still good yet as I belonged to a wonderful all German Lutheran church out in the country--big with capacity of almost 400. And it was about full every Sunday and packed on Christmas. Now its all changed and so different.

      +My private construction I had not been in church in years (I am not a believer) but attended recently for a program. The changes were huge and not for the better. Previously, the choir entered in a processional with this hymn leading to a triumphant final verse with thunderous organ. Now folks wandered in wearing shorts, halter tops, sweats, flip flops and immediately took out their cell phones. The choir was replaced with a band - drums, guitars, singers, etc. The "hymns" were embarrassingly childish in both musical and theological content. Worst, the beautiful pipe organ was rarely hear and (unbelievably) played a sort of churchy "Stand By Me" for the recessional.

      +smb123211 The Church today is suffering from post modernism which is disgusting. Same with the world today as we climb deeper into a rabbit hole from hell. Thank you Government. Thank you John Hagee, Kenneth Copeland, Joyce Meyer and all the other heretical NON Christian media outlets. People are so confused today other than the small remnant of Christians. Sad.

      US Deutchland Mark I lost faith long ago and am now an atheist. I was also a classical pianist and love music. I realize times change and what we like at one time sounded awful to those first experiencing it. (Bach was often condemned for the complexity and originality of his church music.)
      The idea that no culture, religion, nation or society is "superior" to any other is absurd but widely accepted. Muslims flee to Europe - not the other way around. The Scientific Age originated with Christians - not Muslim, Hindu or Buddhist. The world operates (or pretends to) on Western ideas like education, courts, religious liberty, press freedom, individual rights & representative government. If all cultures are equally valid why does one dominate?

      US Deutchland Mark Islam never underwent a Reformation and Enlightenment. Unlike Christianity and Judaism, it has never allowed scholarly research on its founder, origins, history, growth and beliefs.
      I taught Muslims refugees English and ALL were fundamentalists in that all accepted the Quran literally as the word of Allah without error or question. There was never, "Well I don't a lot of the Old Testament myths but that's how they thought." That approach is inconceivable to a Muslim.

    Some people are far too critical of almost everything., can't you just appreciate the good and accept, without criticizing, what you hear, that in your opinion, is not quite so good, , especially in music.

    De la iglesia el fundamentopor Samuel StoneCanciones/HimnosDe la iglesia el fundamento
    Es Jesús el Salvador;
    Por el agua y la Palabra
    Le dio vida su Señor;
    Para hacerla su esposa quiso
    De los cielos descender,
    Y su sangre por limpiarla
    En la horrible cruz verter.
    De entre todas las naciones
    Escogida en variedad,
    A través de las edades
    Se presenta en unidad;
    Y los títulos que ostenta
    Son: tener sólo un Señor,
    Una fe y un nacimiento,
    Un constante y puro amor.
    Ella alaba sólo un nombre,
    Participa de un manjar,
    La consuela una esperanza
    Y en la cruz tiene su altar;
    Por el celo que la anima,
    De las almas corre en pos,
    Y ambiciona por la gracia
    Conducirlas hasta Dios.
    Aunque el mundo la contemple
    Ya con odio o desdén;
    Del error o de los cismas
    Desgarrada en el vaivén,
    En vigilia están los santos
    Y no cesarán de orar;
    Lo que hoy es tristeza pronto
    Se convertirá en cantar.
    A través de sufrimientos
    Y fatigas y dolor,
    El glorioso día espera
    En que vuelva su Señor;
    Consumada su carrera
    Y perfecta su salud,
    Entrará triunfante y libre
    En la eterna beatitud.

    If the recording is to be trusted, the trouble begins immediately. The intro was far too slow for the pace of the hymn and a good choir would have helped keep folks in line.

      There is more beauty in a congregation of untrained voices raised in unison than I will ever hear from even the finest choir.

    • @smb123211
      @smb123211 3 года назад

      @@adamcard9773 Maybe so but there's a reason certain choirs, organs, etc are held in high regard vs congregational singing. I admit it was an unfair comparison. You can't compare professional / trained musicians with singing from a congregations just as you can't compare my piano playing with a professional's.

      I tend to push the tempos when I play, but I agree...this is too fast for this hymn. I enjoy playing this hymn with the "regalness" it deserves.

      Tempo is perfect...too often in church it's almost like the congregation and organist have a contest to to see who can slur half notes into whole notes make a slow song even slower and more drab. Playing too slow makes a song like this lose its power and meaning.

    STOP COUGHING!!!!!! I do not understand why people cough at concerts

    • @traildude7538
      @traildude7538 10 месяцев назад

      When I was lead tenor for college choir we did a Christmas concert where I had a long solo. We did the concert four times in one day, and in three of those times someone coughed while I was singing. It was actually more annoying when I was doing my solo than when I was in an audience.

    Yikes, if the organ and congregation were ever together in this arrangement it was an accident.
