Just a wonderful song! Ms. Yearwood had some absolutely great songs around that time! Glad you picked it, Don!

Now that's a super choice Don, I can't believe you hadn't done it before. One of my all time faves from the first time I heard it. Released in 1991, a great era in Country Music, and it still holds up so well today. Written by Jon Ims. Thanks for the terrific reaction!!!

This was Trisha's debut single and to this day it probably remains her signature hit. It's simply a lovely song and it sounds great to this day thanks to her vocals and a crisp arrangement.
Side note: the debut single of basically any major country artist who broke through in the late 80's-early 90's is a modern classic. There are so many great songs to suggest, but I'll recommend my favorite: "I'd be better off (in a pine box)" by Doug Stone.

I agree with Doug Stone, he has so many good song and is sort of forgotten today among the 90's Country Stars.

Good choice Don. It just blows my mind that this is the first time for you hearing this song. This is like a country staple. About the song, what do they say "little girls marry their dads". Also you have to let your child make their own mistakes in life or they will never learn. Thanks for the reaction.

My favorite Trisha Yearwood's song is her cover of Melissa Etheridge's "You Can Sleep While I Drive"

I wish she had stayed as active as she was at the beginning of her career. I just love her voice.

Great choice and great reaction Don. An aside: I remember where I was when I heard the news that John Kennedy was killed and I remember where I was when I first heard Trisha sing this song. I was out fishing with my second cousin on my boat. We both loved country music even then. Our reaction when hearing the song was that we looked at each other and said: That song is going to number one, not even thinking that it very well might be her career song.

I've always loved the songwriter's choice of "like I still look at you" when "the way I looked at you" would have fit and maybe been more expected. And it's easy to miss on the first listen. Really glad you picked up on it.

this song always reminds me of my own daughter at that point in her life, its hard not being the dad who sits there all night cleaning the gun, but for me it was important to remember to be as supportive as I could, so if (God forbid) something ever does go wrong, shes not afraid to talk to me about it or call me for help, great reaction bro

A great song no one has ever reviewed is Kenny Rogers, "Long Arm of the Law." A somewhat similar story, but not.

This sounds like a re-recording and not the original hit. Hmm. I don't know how you always seem to find those. And I wish artists would leave their big hits alone and stop recording them again with different mixes.
