Thanks I picked one up from ebay - this video answered my questions and concerns - got my CAR RUNNING! My 2008 PT cruiser would stall while driving, wouldn't restart - engine cranks but wasn't getting any fuel. And the horn won't work but would honk randomly while driving. Thanks Again!
I like the way you work. I used to perform overhaul of communications equipment and having known good components to switch in and out was the key to troubleshooting problems.
What in the world was FCA (or whatever they were called back then) thinking when they decided to use non-accessible, soldered in relays in the TIPM instead of traditional, socketed, replaceable ones? One has to think the few dollars saved by using that design has been spent many times over in settlement of lawsuits, recall costs, and most importantly lost repeat customers.
You are the Chrysler PT Guru, you have helped me understand with my 1st generation PT 2002 Touring died on me, needed a new PCM (2 connectors) and a timing belt replacement, Cost me a month wait and Lots of $$$ to get her back up and running at my local Dealer. Glad to see your post on cars that may not be still being sold but still need servicing. Agree with your comment that the price for repairs is based on the earned knowledge and experience, just lake a doctor or dentist, rather have someone like you work on my car than just a backyard mechanic cause I know the job will be done right.
Broke it down like no one else on you tube. Great job. I understood immediately when you said yes and no. Will run and shift, you will only have the features from whatever that TIPM was programmed with originally. Thank You sir. I subscribed.
Your videos have helped me so much with my 06 PT cruiser 2.4 turbo I watched almost every video that you have on how to diagnose and believe it or not I changed everything in mine it was not running ended up being the tipm I just pulled one from a wrecking yard today and you mentioned if there's no fog lights the car that I pulled it off of had no fog lights but it has the connectors behind the caps for them so I'm hoping that works long story short I just need my car to turn on and your videos have saved me so much
I believe I have watch another Video you done along with this one enjoyed both, you've always up to this point have been straight forward and honest . I know enough to be dangerous been fixing what I can for the last forty plus years cause I like my money in my pocket, I know of one mechanic such as yourself that I feel I can trust he does help to the best of his ability when I ask a question. Got ripped off by a local Chrysler dealer before and I tell everyone to avoid them at all cost and go to another one that is honest, keep up the good work Thank You.
Thank you sir, your videos helped us after we bought a 2008 pt cruiser convertible that went into limp 10 miles from where we purchased it. We were able to reset codes and get it running for a few miles here or there but on the 3rd time going into limp it would no longer clear. Codes thrown p0700 and p0882. It was the tipm. We got it from autoparts store for $400 but lifetime warranty so worth it. Thank you!
My local autoparts store has the TIPM for the Turbo model for $450.00. Going to try to pick one up at the salvage yard; they say they have two of the 06 Turbo PT Cruisers.
Great video. Not much information on 2008 pt cruiser online. Helped out so much. When you look 08 pt cruiser, mostly they give you 04 information that is not correct. This video explains it all.
My 95 Neon ate the timing belt so top end is probably done so thinking of buying a cheap turbo PT Cruiser to have a similar but more useful and fun car to drive. This is very informative as I try to figure out what issues to look for and what are deal breakers. Several of the cheap ones have issues and codes related to the tipm and the transmission or miss fire and battery voltage. I figure I can get one with minor easy for me to deal with issues rather than paying full retail and still possibly having the same problems crop up shortly after. It figures that the module would only have the parts actually used on the car it's going in rather than every one getting everything that could be a rare option most never use. Probably a way to check part numbers or look at the circuit board and compare and you'd notice the missing parts. If the relays and parts are similar for all the functions and you had the skills you could probably add them in if it didn't need special reprogramming to work that a backyard mechanic wouldn't be able to do.
I think in most cases (as in my 2011 Dodge) you will find the relays ARE visible and replaceable. Maybe the PT Cruiser was a little different from other Chrysler-based builds?
This clarified what i needed to know. I have an 07 charger srt8 and it was throwing ALL and i mean ALL the lights on the dash and AC would immediately start blowing hot and gauges would go all the way down (speedometer, temperature etc). I went to a junk yard and found an 07 charger (but not the srt8 it was a v6 3.5). Those lights went off and drove it for 1 day and so far so good but ac now blows hot and i get u1417 and u1418 (implausible wheel distance error). Im pretty sure it has to do with TIPM needed to be programmed. Ill take it to the dealer tomorrow. I hope its done and solves it and not to expensive
O wow, but they may need to do a reconfiguration as well. Good luck bud. This car also has a BCM, was there any codes in the BCM? Also are you subscribed to the channel?
@@OnlineMechanicTips it was the TIMP. It worked even though it was for a base 3.5. i left it overnight and next day it was perfect. No more lights, AC works now, and when i plug my diablosport for diagnosis i dont have any more fault codes

Definitely get a tipm that matches your tipm part number or you will need to have it reflashed ..mines worked for about a month now I have tons of electrical issues because I went and got a tipm out of a newer model pt cruiser than mine
Used TIPMs usually end up needed reconfigured to the car to sycn with the other models. Not really reflashed. Did your TIPM set any codes? Are you subscribed to the channel?

I swapped a TIPM from my parts car that I use to take things from to put onto the new car. It’s a 2012 Chrysler 200, the parts car is a 2011 200, same basically everything but I have new codes on the dash that I didn’t have before. The only code I had was P05022 which we changed. Do they keep codes from the previous car?
That TIPM box caused me so many issues with my Grand Caravan including the van unlocking itself, the windows rolling themselves down in the middle of the night once during a torrential downpour, and a blown lock up solenoid in the transmission that wrecked the torque converter. There were recalls and several lawsuits over these, Chrysler in their infinite wisdom decided to put the PCM up in the driver side wheel well instead of under the hood somewhere or in the firewall, so that water, mud, dirt, stones, etc. get thrown on it. This was all failure by design, and designed to jack up repair costs substantially. I'd never own one of these Chrysler/Dodge csrs again.
I always made more on commission back 45 years ago, but when the garages were attached to gas stations it was all hourly.....like $2.50/hr and gas was 37 cents.
Hi bro, we have a 2004 pt cruser automatic 2.4 non turbo. 2982431 miles on her. She is a great car she is still running strong. Until it went into limp mode . I was looking into the diagram wiring. I have been through so much trouble with the TIPM . Replaced twice from the dealership and still getting a negative on dashboard. 2012 Chrysler town and country. Please help
I bought an used tipm for my Chrysler Town and country 2008 It's 100% identical to the old one which has problem in the fuses connectors the Continental Temic is identical everything is identical but a friend of me told that it won't work just by putting it and plug & play it should be programed by a technician so the car VIN number should be inside the tipm 🤔 is that true ? or it's just a plug & play then you good to go ? + Thanks for the great info ❣️❣️❤️
Hes semi right..yes, it needs to be re-configured with a good dealer scan tool so the vins will match and there not be any conflict with other modules, BUT, its plug and play from a start and go stand point..Please like the video and subscribe to the channel..thanks, also why exactly did you replace it?
Well Here in Iraq the temperature reaches 60 Celsius in summer + roads isn’t all good So the tipm fuses overheat & melt by time And the plastic plugs gets sore & broken Because of the bad roads So I bought an used tipm from eBay For about 70$ I still in the process of replacing the broken cables ... and a friend of me told me about the vin matching thing .. so I looked up in RUclips & I found you .. big like & big subscribe 😌❤️
Does this also mean Autostart (Remote start) is ran thru the TIPM? For my avenger I had to get a used TIPM and my Remote start no longer works. 08 RT Avenger please help JT
Hello friend Is there any chance I can fix my passenger side headlight without replacing the TIPM? I was trying to install ELD on my 2015 ram and everything went wrong I put everything back with original bulb and there is no power on passenger side headlight What should I do? Son people are said is the TIPM and some other that is PCM I don’t want to spend money on the wrong part and ending in not fixing the problem I will appreciate any suggestions Thank you man for your videos
Hey I got a question I Tried programming a used PCM to my 2012 Dodge Durango but it didn’t program so I took it back out and put the original one back in. Now it gives me codes my signal lights don’t I scanned it and it say it needs to be reflash .. do you think if I put a used PCM with the Tipm and ignition switch from a Durango the same year it start right up with no problem?
NO, this year has a WCM or a skim. The skim and pcm have to be married and on the same page. Its all about the bus network. I dont no this stuff by hard but some of these year models that will not work
I have a 07 ram 1500 low beam issues I feel it's this can I by a used one and will it work my low beam and plug n play for all other things such as engine and transmission with no issues will I need it reprogram for the entire system tia
I replaced my tipm on my 2008 ram 5.7 along with the ECM and still have no crank no start and the tipm is throwing a code B222c( vehicle not configurated) any advice?
You just dive right in the middle? Curious, how did you get to the point that suggested that the TIPM and the ECU was the problem? Also are you subscribed to the channel?
Connections were all good but first thing I noticed was that the truck would have everything powered except starter and fuel pump. So then I used a scanner and had communication issues with the ecu and central gateway. Swapped both and still a no crank no start with 2 codes that has me stumped
Theres an option on our scan tool called restore vehicle configuration, Depending on what year the car is and if the car equipped with a BCM, its possible..The PT Cruisers do not have a BCM..
Definitely not plug and play..replaced mine now my wipers go off when they want the horn honks randomly ..the alarm works when it want you will need to have it flashed ..or try to hard reset the tipm...I get check engine code that says it needs to be reprogrammed and throws the car in limp mode...have to remove the battery cables every time this happens
Question if my 07 or cruiser is a turbo, does the new tipm need to be turbo as well? I ask because it maybe hard to find out if tipm at salvage yard is turbo or not yo know
@@FamilyFigureHunters So here is how to avoid needing any type programming or module configuration. If you get it off of a car that has the exact same features as yours, it will be a simple plug an play type replacement. Likely the part numbers will match except the ending revision numbers and thats ok, but the cross feature may give you some problems.
@@OnlineMechanicTips Thanks! I found a similar model PT Cruiser Turbo at at my local junkyard (matching 8th digit of the VIN) and pulled the TIPM. I then went home and swapped it with mine. Took me about 15 minutes to remove and replace the TIPM and cost me about $30 for the part. No more check engine light; no more limp mode and all of the cars features work.
Hi, thanks for taking the time to explain your experiences, they help a lot. Could you make a list or indicate a link where it says what the TIPM controls in a PT? In my case 08 PT turbo
Agreed. I need to replace mine due to the not shifting problem but my cruise control also doesn't work so I'm wondering if that could be the cause as well
what size socket is used to take the nut off the bottom of the TIPM? I know the TIPM bracket is a 10mm I'm about to go the yard yard and yank a TIPM is why I ask .... and thanks again for another enlightening vid! keep up the good work yo!
@@OnlineMechanicTips Thank you so much i appreciate it! ALso I was wondering what is the cheapest route to replacing my head gasket on my 06 pt cruiser without have to spend too much more money of any other gaskets or anything besides the head gasket? basically how many gaskets and such do I have no choice to replace when doing the cylinder head gasket?
Sup man I got an 06 1500 5.7.The tipm codes show UOFF1,UOFF2,3 and 4.I can't even Google those codes Have you seen those before? Also I have two orhe tipms ones off an on 09 hemi one is good but doesn't seem to have too much shit in there feature wise do you know if there's a compatibility chart somewhere I can find because somebody bought it and then it got dropped off onto my hands saying that the wire harness is bad which is not. And the other two tipms aren't giving me those crazy U codes that won't clear no matter what I do driving me nuts
4x4 stopped working on my 07 5.7 Dodge Ram, after a full day at the garage ended up being the TIPM. I ordered a reman one today instead of used so I don't end up with another issue from TIPM anytime soon. My question is could the TIPM cause the MDS not to work? My truck gets about 9 mpg in town and around 12mpg on highway so I don't believe the MDS is working and have done a full tune up with no change. I know a couple people with Rams with the MDS and they get a lot better mpg's than I do. Loved your vid liked subscribed and hit the bell for ya, straight to the point and honest as well which is hard to find these days. Awesome!!!
New subscriber..... I have a question. I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring and my car only starts when it's above 70 degrees other than that it will not start and it will say no bus I'm wondering if that can be the tipm or maybe a faulty ground wire I'm not sure what it can be but is starts when it wants to... does that sound like that can be the problem? Or maybe I just need a new pcu
Very possible but just so you know, the TIPM is a module. So if you had a scan tool that could read inside that module, you may find codes that will help properly diag the car
thxs for all your great intel ! another question great Wiz ! have my new ECM on my piece of shit 2002 Dodge ..truck is idling moving slow on a border crossing line ! all of a sudden it dies after an hour of idling and slow moving the engine turns but won't start all the gauges don't moving . I let it rest and cool down for an hour I come back and it starts right up !

Great video btw and thank you for the clarification of it! I have a 2007 Dodge Ran 1500 4.7 and after owning it for about 10 years it finally gave us our first major issue. Basically it didn't start back up when leaving from work. It turns over but doesn't start. I'm reading and thinking it's the fuel pump relay which now I know one must get the Tipm replaced. If I get the same part number of Tipm (#P04692118ah to P04692118ah) I should be ok rite?
Curious, why are you suspecting/thinking that its the fuel pump without checking? There are a lot of things that can cause a no start. Did you spray carb cleaner in the intake and it started? Also are you subscribed to the channel?

great video i have a 2010 dodge grand caravan and a lot of features are not working like the radiator fan but i tested the fan with a battery and it works fine. Does the 2010 tipm have to match by vin number or can I plug in a used one?
Thanks for subscribing buddy, listen..That 2010 model van came with a couple of diff engine options but I think most of the features are the same..You should be able to simply swap out the TIPM on this year van..But make sure its the same year and features off your van and that the part numbers are the same..We swap out TIPM here to test things all the time and van starts right up and run

Hes semi right..yes, it needs to be re-configured with a good dealer scan tool so the vins will match and there not be any conflict with other modules, BUT, its plug and play from a start and go stand point..Please like the video and subscribe to the channel..thanks, also why exactly did you replace it?
Well
Here in Iraq the temperature reaches 60 Celsius in summer
+ roads isn’t all good
So the tipm fuses overheat & melt by time
And the plastic plugs gets sore & broken
Because of the bad roads
So I bought an used tipm from eBay
For about 70$
I still in the process of replacing the broken cables ... and a friend of me told me about the vin matching thing .. so I looked up in RUclips & I found you .. big like & big subscribe 😌❤️
Mine is giving me no parking lights, no dash lights and no changes so gonna change it and let you know the results
Hey man great video and great information. Very well explained. Thank you
Thanks for watching and subscribing. I really appreciate it
Does this also mean Autostart (Remote start) is ran thru the TIPM? For my avenger I had to get a used TIPM and my Remote start no longer works. 08 RT Avenger please help JT
Hello friend
Is there any chance I can fix my passenger side headlight without replacing the TIPM?
I was trying to install ELD on my 2015 ram and everything went wrong
I put everything back with original bulb and there is no power on passenger side headlight
What should I do?
Son people are said is the TIPM and some other that is PCM
I don’t want to spend money on the wrong part and ending in not fixing the problem
I will appreciate any suggestions
Thank you man for your videos
I ain't getting no power to my blinkers where do I run power from
I replaced my tipm on my 2008 ram 5.7 along with the ECM and still have no crank no start and the tipm is throwing a code B222c( vehicle not configurated) any advice?
You just dive right in the middle? Curious, how did you get to the point that suggested that the TIPM and the ECU was the problem? Also are you subscribed to the channel?
Connections were all good but first thing I noticed was that the truck would have everything powered except starter and fuel pump. So then I used a scanner and had communication issues with the ecu and central gateway.
Swapped both and still a no crank no start with 2 codes that has me stumped
I'm with you on keeping parts for testing. Can you take a used tipm and program it to the vehicle features?
Theres an option on our scan tool called restore vehicle configuration, Depending on what year the car is and if the car equipped with a BCM, its possible..The PT Cruisers do not have a BCM..
@@OnlineMechanicTips possible with bcm? Not possible without bcm?
Definitely not plug and play..replaced mine now my wipers go off when they want the horn honks randomly ..the alarm works when it want you will need to have it flashed ..or try to hard reset the tipm...I get check engine code that says it needs to be reprogrammed and throws the car in limp mode...have to remove the battery cables every time this happens
TIPMS do not have to be flashed..what kind of car is this? Also are you subscribed to the channel?
Would this work on a 2012 town and country?
Will what work? Im not understanding, first off, what problem you having? Also are you subscribed to the channel?
Question if my 07 or cruiser is a turbo, does the new tipm need to be turbo as well? I ask because it maybe hard to find out if tipm at salvage yard is turbo or not yo know
If I buy a TIPM at a salvage yard can I just plug it in or will I still need to pay someone to program it to my PT Cruiser?
TIPMs are programmed to the VIN. What year is your car?
It’s a 2006 PT Cruiser Turbo. Yes, subscribed.
@@FamilyFigureHunters Ayyyyyyyyyeeeee
I can hear the fuel pump running and I try to crank my PT Cruiser and it starts and it dies and will not keep running full because you're
Hi, thanks for taking the time to explain your experiences, they help a lot. Could you make a list or indicate a link where it says what the TIPM controls in a PT?
In my case 08 PT turbo
Agreed. I need to replace mine due to the not shifting problem but my cruise control also doesn't work so I'm wondering if that could be the cause as well
I really like this guy :) . Thank you.
what size socket is used to take the nut off the bottom of the TIPM? I know the TIPM bracket is a 10mm I'm about to go the yard yard and yank a TIPM is why I ask .... and thanks again for another enlightening vid! keep up the good work yo!
I dont no what kind of car this is but the bolt on the TIPM usually a 13mm
@@OnlineMechanicTips Correct on 06 Cruiser the bolt is 13mm thanks a bunch!
Isn't the phrase "Plug and Pray"?
Sup man I got an 06 1500 5.7.The tipm codes show UOFF1,UOFF2,3 and 4.I can't even Google those codes Have you seen those before? Also I have two orhe tipms ones off an on 09 hemi one is good but doesn't seem to have too much shit in there feature wise do you know if there's a compatibility chart somewhere I can find because somebody bought it and then it got dropped off onto my hands saying that the wire harness is bad which is not. And the other two tipms aren't giving me those crazy U codes that won't clear no matter what I do driving me nuts
I need your help
Just subbed brother.... Quick question... 2000 mustang gt.... Is the TIPM uninstall pretty much the same as this?
Wow buddy I'm sorry, I'm not sure..Tipms was not even out during this year model.
I replaced my tipm box on my 06 an know the air bag lights stay on an seat belt keeps beeping...
Hello my friend, are you able to scan the TIPM? Also are you subscribed to the channel?
@@OnlineMechanicTips ok thank u so much for replying
thxs for all your great intel ! another question great Wiz ! have my new ECM on my piece of shit 2002 Dodge ..truck is idling moving slow on a border crossing line ! all of a sudden it dies after an hour of idling and slow moving the engine turns but won't start all the gauges don't moving . I let it rest and cool down for an hour I come back and it starts right up !
You are the bomb brother, great vid!!!
Thanks for watching the vids my friend. Please thumbs up the video and subscribe to the channel, thanks
@@OnlineMechanicTips yes I subscribed right after I watched vid!!
awesome video very informative!
Very nice explanation, blessings
Would this cause the vehicle not to start code p0882 and p0700 I replaced PCM and TCM
PCM and TCM?? What kind of car do you have. Have you subscribed to the channel?
I been a subscriber to your channel. 06 pt cruiser I just replaced the computer and check engine light came back and of course these codes again p0882 and p0700
@@donaldfinkler2490 Hey bud, you likely have a short in your TIPM..P0882 typically end up being internal to the TIPM..Thanks for subbing..I did a video awhile ago concerning this code
I didn’t know Danny Brown fixed cars 😂
thanks great info .
Thanks for watching bud..Please like the video and subscribe to the channel for me, thanks
Hey idk if you respond but if i get an tipm from junk yard with same fetures as mine will that b plug and play? Just curious i keep hearing itll nedd to b programmed i have an 08 ram 1500 sxt 4.7 ffv and found a till out of inentical trucl just 07 will that work
If the advice pans out ill donate a hella donation lol. Cause shop wants a ton
Hello my friend. A 2008 Ram TIPM do not have to be programmed to use. However, you need to make sure you get one with the same part number that match the features you have on your truck...Dont forget to thumbs up the video and subscribe to the channel, thanks
great video i have a 2010 dodge grand caravan and a lot of features are not working like the radiator fan but i tested the fan with a battery and it works fine.
THANK YOU!
Thanks for watching bud, and please remember to thumbs up the video and subscribe to the channel, thanks.
I would tell customers, Your not paying me to do the job. Your paying me because I know how to do the job..
Nice video. I have 1st generation PT cruiser. Car is in limp mode. And won't go to higher gears. I found relay for transmission under the hood. I'm gonna test it. Can you give me any other ideas?

JUST GOT A NEW ECM FOR MY DODGE ! BUT MY ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON ! WILL THAT HURT MY DODGE IF I LEAVE THEM ON FOR A WHILE ?
No it wont hurt it..The ABS system is design to prevent skids during ice or snow weather...Its summer time right now so you good until the ice hit.
Thank you.
id crack it apart and solder the relays where neccesary... that was built and designed by humans, not Einstein
Yea thats something you do and try on your own car. Not customer cars
