I'm surprised in a way that SC uploaded this race because of this and the way Neil crucified them. Correct though, the clowns had it in for him. Mind you they can't have learnt too much from back then, not sure if he still is in the role but having Jason Bargwanna as your driving standards observer... christ...
@@matt18333 Craig Baird is the DSO these days, does a pretty good job too all things considered. I agree with Neil that this was a shocking decision from Colin Bond though, and his justification really showed that he hadn't looked at the replays properly or had it in for Murphy, or a combination of both. Has always stuck out to me as one of if not the worst example of judicial injustice in a Supercars race.
@@hotwire96 there was one in the 2007 Clipsal 500 where a Perkins car shut off in the middle of the corner and got hit from behind and a penalty was awarded, it was a joke
Or the balaclava incident or the black flag removed from whincup vs winterbottom deciding race for the championship, winterbottom was black flagged for touching the white line entering pit lane, then later whincup did the exact same thing got a black flag drive thru aswell but then they with drew the black flag drive thru wich handed whincup the championship for Vodafone holden, a first in ALL motorsports history , far worse than Murphy vs lowndes incident far far worse
Laughable penalty for Murph regardless whether you were a Ford fan or Holden fan. Neil Crompton was right to roast Colin Bond. Boy did Crompo get into hot water for that outburst though.
I would have to say i agree 100% with Neil Crompton! Craig Lowndes was in trouble by himself, he probably would have gone off either way, Greg Murphy was following closely but did NOT intentionally tip CL off track he simply lightly bumped CL, CL,s car was well off the racing line, because he was out of shape Greg M had no where to go.
there was a Barbegello round - Ambrose had a five car length lead by turn three over Skaiffe - it was the first time in years that the HRT dominance had been erased.
@@Not_A_Cat wrong, have this race on VHS, the actual ch10 footage cuts 15 laps much later in the race as they did in 2004. There should be roughly 1hr and 50min of race footage to this race. Telecast times for these 300km races was 2:30pm to 5pm. Minus roughly 30min of ads
@@SydneyCroatia021 races weren't shown live back in the day. So you'd still have 3min of ads but 15 laps cut. This race went for roughly 2h 40 min and had to be cut to fit a 2h 30min telecast on ch10. This is an extended highlights package rather than a full telecast race unfortunately
Neil crompton on the Murphy incident absolute savage, respect
Amazing crompo didnt get fired omfg
Crompo almost quit after this.
53:01 for the explanation from Colin Bond and 54:01 for the best bit of unloading on the stewards you will ever hear.
Absolutely agreed. As much as I respect Colin Bond as a competitor, that was a woeful decision. Crompo was entirely right to speak his mind there.
Bond was a terrible DSO
Sickening the way the stewards treated Greg Murphy back then.
Nothing compares to the 5 minute Bathurst penalty.

@@hotwire96 exactly. The drivers are on the limit every lap, therefore if the bloke in front is having a moment there's absolutely no way to avoid

Colin Bond needs a set of glasses, I am a ford fan but that was a bad call
34 starters... bring back full grids!!!
Love this era of car 🚗
gotta love that pirtek BA!!!!
the golden days
Great racing back in the days when Ambrose, Murph, Richo, Skaife and "The Enforcer" were battling for the championship
Joe Satriani's "Back To Shalla-Bal" at 4:21, also used as the Main Menu theme song for the 1996 video game: Formula 1 based on the 1995 F1 season
Peak V8Supercars, we will never see these crowds, grid numbers or average-person interest again.

Look how packed the campaign area is.. now you guys don't evan race here? @supercars
Mighty BA Falcon in Ambrose hands was a True HSV killer
Marcus Ambrose in the pirtek ford falcon, looks fantastic. Watch a lot of supercars from this era, Murphy, Lowndes nobody's fault, good racing.
pathetic penalty, it was a racing incident - Lowndes just got loose in the middle of the corner
CORRECT!
5:28 wonder where he is now

Ahh the good ol days

“Unstoppable Ambrose” more like the other teams can’t match Stone Brothers Racing at most of the rounds in 2003 and 2004

No, it's the whole race minus the ad breaks. This was all free-to-air coverage.
@@Not_A_Cat so there ads between lap 8 and 22. That's around 14 minutes of ads.

43:33 I dont understand why they gave Murphy the penalty ,it was clearly Lowndes's fault
Colin Bond is a dope!
I’m a Ford man but that was a joke
where is the parity?
