It should be saved !! It Represents the "PERSEVERANCE" of humanity through many plagues and difficult times we have faced as a Country! Keep Canada Alive:)
1,000,000 bucks ! are you kidding, that tree is worth much more ! Yes by all means bring the house down and add a little pathway, a couple of benches oh, and don't forget the "plaque" to honer the best plant ever created !
Imagine the tree dies shortly after the park is built around it. Just put that money into planting new trees which absorb a lot more CO2 than aged trees instead please, because let's face it the cost of purchasing the property isn't the end of the line... demolition costs, rebuilding costs, maintenance... let's ask ourselves is that worth it.
@@danielkamali5964 quick Google search told me the average lifespan is 300 years. So this tree can most definitely be in its last year's. It may make it close to 1000, sure... But like I said, this will likely be a million+ dollar project... Is it worth it?
I'm with you guys. They should never cut that down...
Greedy Toronto's Developers would rather cut the tree down and then bulldoze the lot. They would love to put up a 50 storey condo on the site.
Who built that house under that tree?

Tell me how they built such a new house right next to this tree? Just doesn't make sense.
Yes! Protect the tree!
Looks like a perfect spot for a parking lot, or possible overpriced condos! Go Toronto!
So the city needs $430k to basically save this tree but has $700k in rainy day funds to refurbish the Toronto sign ... okay
i think this is amazing and should be preserved
that would make a really nice table.

Everyone in Toronto should donate $1.00 each. I think that is fair.
No
The government should pay for the owners home so they can move to a new place safely and save the tree also.
Some genius built the house too close.
A tree that survived the Spanish Flu?????
Hopefully you haven’t unleashed 2020 onto this tree.
Really? Life of a tree is worth more than housing for human now?
TREES LIVES MATTER
Would make quite a few nice coffee tables
Just see what happens when it tears the house down
I could use some fire wood. Should cut it down.
Move the house lol.
this tree would be a better president than trump

oak trees can live for more than 1000 years, this one is just 1/4 of that. 250 years is young for an oak

Could spend that money on real problems instead of invented ones, right?
Also, I heard the price just went up.
@@seanmcseanson yup, i saw that on Reddit. This whole concept should just be scrapped. The people that own the property got greedy.
Developers are the worst just build around it
Lots of times building near it cuts the roots so bad, it will die after a while.
It's these clowns that's causing the lumber shortage right now and preventing me from getting my fence done
1st Dk y lol
It's a tree 😅🤣😂✂️
its a 20,000 fine for cutting a tree in Toronto, a heritage tree is a bigger fine.
Y’all can support this tree but can’t support black lives 😕
