I've had a pair for a couple of weeks. Love the foam's rebound and the rocker shape: really makes you want to run(!) and the rocker shape is very nice up and down steeper hills. The stiff ankle region gives very good support but may need a little time to mould to your foot shape: I had slight pressure on my outer ankle bones but after not many miles at all the stiffner started to change shape and now fits like a glove with a very secure feeling. More room for my little toes than Speedgoat 5s but not at all sloppy feeling. Great hold from the midfoot upper wrap system. Probably not going to suit people with a more swollen ankle shape though.

Yes, i think genesis is a bit more flat and no plate so you feel more the rocks, sharp objects on the ground. Prodigio more comfy, wider as well then genesis.
Thanks for the video! I also always go one 1/2 size more when going with la Sportiva (I usually wear a 45 european size and I need to go with 45.5 with la Sportiva to get that little extra margin in the front foot). But are you saying that for this model you took your usual size?
It is a thin tongue Jeff but I haven’t had any issues with it. Although I think you’re right, a bit more padding would be a good idea 👍 I’m not a massive fan of a thin running shoe tongue 🤔
Shoe is so sick. Love La Sportiva but the fit and stiffness of the other models always ended up giving me trouble. The Prodigio is a totally different La Spo. New favorite go long trail shoe.
Great review! Been trying to lock in sizing in EU. Usually a 45.3 in other trail runners. You think the 45.5 or the 46 would be best? Ordering online and no where to try them on in person! Happy trails!

Been waiting for a while. took them for 24km on south downs and was great. going to drop right into the SDW50 in 10 days time. shoudl be perfect for this kind of race. then will take then to the alps in the summer :-) Found the upper a touch hard to start,m so the break in was worth it. the foam just feels great underfoot liek you found it too.
Hello Lloyd, thank you for a good video and shoe review of the new La Sportiva shoe, I’ve tried their shoes in the past and like you, I felt they were a little stiff in the midfoot, and I found the traction wasn’t quite as good as the Saucony Peregrine and the xodus ultras. I picked up a pair of Merrell trill peak 5’s, but I haven’t run in them yet. I do longer distance bigger mountain runs out in Southern California, like cactus to clouds and Mount Whitney mountain, which is usually rocky technical stuff. My goal this year is to run the Grand Canyon R2R2R, which is about 40 miles, and I’m trying to find the best shoe for a good traction on that terrain, comfort over those longer miles, and maybe something that has a little bit of protection because sometimes I kick those rocks, ouch :-) Given your expertise and all the shoes that you have tried, including the Trail Peak 5, xodus ultra’s, this new La Sportiva and other similar category shoes, I’m wondering, which shoes you would recommend I consider for this Grand Canyon run? Any thoughts? I greatly appreciate and thank you again.
I would say the Agility Peak 5 would be the best option if they fit your foot shape well. The Vibram megagrip outsole is brilliant and there’s a rock plate worked into the midsole that offers a good level of underfoot protection! Hope this helps and best of luck with your race 💪🙂

You kindly replied to my question about a good shoe suggestion for the rim to rim to rim Grand Canyon run, but you released your video after your reply and your suggestion on the Merrell agility Peak 5. I think you said you got a blister on your heel, and maybe you didn’t have any hotspots in the Merrell. Maybe I’ll go and see if I can try on the Prodigio for fitment and comfort. I've has 6 pair of speedcross 5 in a row so a fan of a snug shoe. I've brought some La Sportive Mutants which are really aggressive but fit great and awesome for mid winter. I have 100km run in july through derbyshire so looking for a bit more of a forgiving for road to trail and hard pack summer trail. I've tried on here at home Caldera 7's ( way too soft) , ultraglide2's (not soft enough). I now have an Altemesa 300 on one one foot and a La Sportive Prodigo on the other foot. It's a really close run thing but I think the Prodigio has it on ergonomic fit at my usual size of 9. ANy advice welcome Loyd. NB thanks for all the great work you're doing on here pal ? Big up the Towans
hey, I just rand SDW50 in them. 2nd run out and have to say they were brilliant! I cant wear hoka's or shoes wiht that kind of cushion as they feel too unstable for me. these rocked. delat with some light middy bits well and ran speedy!
Traction is what the lugs give you when you are running on soft ground, mud, sand things like that. The lugs give you traction to stop you slipping. Grip is what you get from the actual rubber compound when you’re running of firmer terrain, tarmac, rocks etc 👍 Hope this helps, grip and traction are definitely two different things 🙂 Thanks for watching!
Deep stiff heel cup worries me. Did you try the La Sportiva Jackal 1? Also a deep stiff heel, destroyed my achilles, broken bleeding skin on my first run.
I didn’t run in the original Jackal Stuart. The heel actually performed well on the run, I was a bit worried before but it was comfortable while running 👍
These look a lot like a running version of my la sportiva tx4s. I normally run in speedgoats what would be a good option for sky races where there is lots of technical climbing/scrambling?
@@Run4Adventurebeen using the Zinal 2’s and they have pretty average scrambling ability and break down on granite and ice super fast. This prodigo seems like a much better for races with technical scrambles.
Has anyone tested this shoe on actual mountain trails? Steep climbs, fast technical descents? No offense to this guy but these trails are pretty pedestrian.
Unfortunately I don’t have any mountains in Cornwall John! If I did I would have definitely taken the PRODIGIO up them 👍 I don’t know if you’ve seen any of our other shoe reviews where I test them out on technical sections of coast path? I’ve got some longer and tougher challenges coming with this shoe soon 🙂

Hi Loyd nice review 😃If we compare with Mafate speed 4 what you will say?In them I have more than 250 km a lot of techical ground rocks, ridges etc. They are incredible shoes,so now I am thinking about Prodigio...
I’d say the Mafate Speed 4 is a little bit softer in the midsole but the PRODIGIO has more with in the toe box. I’d always say if a trail shoe is working well for you stick with it 👍 Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙂
Did you end up getting the prodigos? Id like to hear a detailed comparison between the mufate speed 4’s! Thanks
Top italian quality❤
It’s definitely a well put together running shoe 👍😁
« Optimum balance between grip and traction… »… someone will have to explain that one to me!! Somehow i believed grip and traction were synonymous…
Traction is what the lugs give you when you are running on soft ground, mud, sand things like that. The lugs give you traction to stop you slipping. Grip is what you get from the actual rubber compound when you’re running of firmer terrain, tarmac, rocks etc 👍
Hope this helps, grip and traction are definitely two different things 🙂
Thanks for watching!
@@Run4Adventure I will go to bed smarter tonight! Thanks Lloyd for answering. Love your positive energy. Cheers from Montreal.
@@kgenest100 No worries 👍🙂
Deep stiff heel cup worries me. Did you try the La Sportiva Jackal 1? Also a deep stiff heel, destroyed my achilles, broken bleeding skin on my first run.
I didn’t run in the original Jackal Stuart. The heel actually performed well on the run, I was a bit worried before but it was comfortable while running 👍
@Run4Adventure what is the model/make of your t-shirt on time code 6:16 please. Thank you.
It’s a SAYSKY combat tee, polka dot colour way 👍
👍🏻👍🏻
👍🙂
Hi what's the forefoot width/volume like compared to the Akashas?
I’d say there’s a little bit more width in the toe box compared to the Akasha Ben 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
These look a lot like a running version of my la sportiva tx4s. I normally run in speedgoats what would be a good option for sky races where there is lots of technical climbing/scrambling?
If you like Hoka shoes maybe take a look at their Zinal 2 👍🙂
@@Run4Adventurebeen using the Zinal 2’s and they have pretty average scrambling ability and break down on granite and ice super fast. This prodigo seems like a much better for races with technical scrambles.
@@evandudley3431 Have you run in the PRODIGIO Evan? I’d say it’s a bit to much shoe for a technical Sky race 🤔
I've seen reviews around, these shoes are not useful in technical terrains so I'm sure it won't work in Hong Kong trails . This shoes looks great on uk pedestrian trails .But I really like Loyd's reviews , he's great guy.
what would you recommend for fast technical descents with good ankle support? this is what I am searching for since some time :) Merrill agility peak maybe or Norda?
Did you have any issues or the upper cutting into your ankles? 90% of the reviews on the La Sportive website state that. Granted, they are probably wearing ankle socks (who does that trail running) but I have to ask.
I haven’t had any issues with the ankle collar, I ran 17.5 miles in them at the weekend and they felt great 👍
RIP Godrevy carpark soon to be moved to the farm and headland carpark being re wild
How much
The price is in the video 👍
Still too narrow for my feet.
Not good for technical terrain
