- Notaries generally may need three supplies in addition to their stamp to ensure notarizations go smoothly: certificates, a locking carry-all and a journal for record keeping. New Notary? Here are helpful tips for your first notarizations: bit.ly/2VvqVHY.
Most states require or strongly recommend that Notaries own and maintain a journal or record book of the acts they perform. Keeping a journal also protects you if your notarizations are ever called into question.
The next item you’ll frequently use are notarial certificates. Certificates are the most challenging type of supply because there are different types of notarizations, each requiring a different certificate. Prepare yourself with certificate pads that include your state’s required wording.
The best place to store your Notary supplies is in a locking carry-all. Taking steps to safeguard your tools will protect you and your clients from fraud and breaches of privacy.
Keep in mind, just because a specific tool is not required by law in your state, doesn’t mean you can’t use it! There are plenty of Notary supplies available to help you perform your duties and protect yourself.

I’m interested in becoming a notary and I’m a beginner. I have already applied for my notary certificate. Where should I start. I want to learn about everything I should so I can become confident in what I do when doing jobs. I’m looking for a mentor in this field.

I'm new I haven't joined yet but will. Question: is it normal to freak out and second guess yourself (I'm really scared to invest and fail)? I have nothing but, the basic fees. My car caught fire a bit ago so, I guess I don't have all the basics.
Hello! Don't be nervous and second guess yourself. There are tons of resources out there to learn the field and be a well equipped Notary. We've met Notaries who don't use cars for mobile Notary work. Depending where you are in the country, some people use horses, bikes, public transportation.
