What a gorgeous deck, I had a chuckle at the beginning of the walk through when you were saying it feels strange to be showing a Yule Deck when it's so hot still in the UK. Now you know how this English Crone living in Australia feels at Yule - It is so difficult to get into the Yule Spirit when it can be 40C and you're having Christmas dinner at the beach (usually cold meat, salad and if you're lucky prawns). Thankfully more and more people are starting to celebrate Yule in June (our winter), so we can be more traditional. Have a great week xxx The Wandering Crone
I love your interpretation of the court cards which makes so much sense. I've watched a few videos on this deck which didn't like the cards having the same scene, describing it as lazy. But you've described the deck perfectly. It's now just under 5 weeks to Xmas and my dogs are buying me this deck for Yule😄 Thank you 💜
You've completely sold me on this deck. 💕✨️ It's an absolute joy to see a Christmas Deck with such traditional imagery. It reminded me of my own childhood Christmases! 🎄🎅 Already ordered and on it's way. Thank you! 🙏✨️
Just ordered the Yuletide Tarot from the Oneness Emporium as my husband said he would get it me for my birthday which is on 3rd November. The artwork looks stunning and I meet Kristoffer recently at a Bardic Weekend Gorsedd (gathering) in North Wales. Thanks for doing the walk through Simon.😊
I just received Winter Waite Tarot the Glittery edition I love it I can not put it away until Christmas because it makes me smile so much. I am excited about Yuletide Tarot I have it on my Birthday wish list. Love and light to you Simon!
@@RobertAlvarezThePsychicWitch I want the spring with stars and another winter deck I love that deck so much I find myself reaching for it daily. They are really good quality and I have the Trippen Waite borderless it is wonderful too. I love all the decks and great service! You can not go wrong!
@@marshahostetler Indeed. Every time I visit their Website, I get a really good vibe. Also, Simon and a few other RUclips content creators have also mentioned them in their videos, so I know that they offer quality products. Also, I do see myself covering all the seasonal bases with their decks. Truly, @tevadatarot planted that seed in my mind.
Omg The Mari Lwyd for the High Priestess, gives me Wicker Man vibes with the hobby horse 😁 I absolutely love the Holly King card too and oh wow the Death card, that is from A Christmas Carol, I absolutely love it! 😍 thing is, I didn’t want to love it because I don’t usually buy seasonal decks that can only be used at a certain time of the year. It is so beautiful though, I will have to think about it as it’s not a cheap deck when you consider you can only use it once a year. Thank you for this walkthrough, my friend I really enjoyed it 😍❤️
@@SpiritofAvalonI’d love this. I’ve been looking for a good autumn deck & haven’t found one that works for me. Even if there’s not a deck for each Sabbat, I want one for each season.
Hi Simon , Thank you for sharing. I preordered mine as soon as it was available. It was worth the wait. This deck feels like Christmas. I hope to someday own The Winter Waite Glitter Edition ✨🎄
The trick or treat deck is one that I never wanted, I don't know why, but I just wasn't attracted to it. But I got it in a tarot subscription box last year, and it has become a very useful deck, a mainstay, only bc I was called to read for football games, just for fun I guess, but I know that there is a reason. I used to hate football, I learned to like it because of my boyfriend. Anyway there's a long story to this but last year I read all of the games second half of the season and this year I'm reading the whole season game by game on my social media. Trick or treat is the deck I use, it has so many elements and specific team colors in it, I'd have never thought this was where I was going with it but here I am.
I looove the artwork and cozy factor of this deck. However, I like to use my tarot decks throughout the year…so I may skip this one as it would only really be for 1 month of the year (for me). Thank you for this look through 😊!
@@the_hermits_cave Ahh, yes; it's a great way to get into the new season and celebrate the wheel of the year. Now that you say that, I may reconsider my approach! I usually do that with oracle decks (like Seasons of the Witch ones), but I guess it makes perfect sense to pair them with seasonal tarot...darn it! I need a new tarot shelf. haha
I watched till halfway point and now going to leave the rest as a surprise as mine comes tomorrow 😆 I’m excited to be getting a Yule deck even though I sit here melting and you can bet I use it from now till Christmas as my favourite part is the build up 😁🎄
Is Dad day drinking? 😅 (King of Good Cheer, it looks like day in the background). That is quite a pretty deck. I do wish they offered just the deck without the book. Thank you for another lovely walkthrough.
Well...I found this deck really strange and disjointed. I totally love the Druid legend stuff at the beginning ( KKs forte).. but then it seems to drift into a melange of 1950s stereotypical family group ( this was my era so maybe that’s why I don’t feel the nostalgia!).. a nod towards Dickens taking us back to Victorian era.. and then a couple more time shifts into 21st century office scene with Mac book and modern woman , and a nod ( just) towards ethnic inclusivity. Thanks for the review. Crossing this off my list so a helpful review as always Simon. Hope others do enjoy it though..
I’m with you. I think I’m still going to get it. I’ve gone back & forth on it. It is definitely disjointed and I have a lot of issues with the minors, especially the court cards. The majors are my favorite, art wise. It takes a second to adjust to how it draws from different Christmas/Yule traditions from different areas in old Europe. But then that doesn’t carry over to the minors at all. A few of the minors change the meaning of their cards a great deal. And I especially do not think the court cards do a good job illustrating the meaning of the card. To me, that indicates the artist wasn’t given enough direction. The overall vision isn’t strong enough. Buy in’s spite of all that, the actual art style is warm and comforting to me. The Winter Waite deck doesn’t do it for me and I really want a wintery deck. I think I’ll get it as a novelty since Llewelyn is having a sale.
When I saw this Tarot Deck, I knew I needed to buy it. For the record, I rarely buy "seasonal" decks, but given that I expect to be at the Moon Serpent and Bone Yule Festival this December, I knew it would be a great addition to my decks for clients that evening. I purchased it, among two others (Oracle and Lenormand) during a sale that Llewellyn Publications had, a few months ago.
I ducking quackered after going out for the day with my best friend in the baking heat 🥵 so this video is fabulous relief (watching with fan on). I really want the Yuletide deck!!! It’s on my list! I also want the Trick or Treat tarot 😅 I love Kristoffer Hughes, I have his book about the Welsh goddess Cerridwen! And several others on my wishlist 🙂 I’ve never owned a christmas/Yule deck before and really love that time of year. Lunar Visions by Matt Hughs, get it Simon 🙌🏻 shiny ✨
I don't know about Erin, but Kristoffer is Chief of The Anglesey Druid Order and a member of OBOD (Order of Bards Ovates and Druids) He was born on the Isle of Anglesey which is a part of Wales and so is Welsh. Hope this helps a bit.
