As someone said earlier, this was quite a challenging one to follow. I watched it twice and then tried myself. I first pretty much replicated what you did Dave, for practise purposes, then started again in my own direction. And. Really happy with the results. Sometimes you have photos and are not really sure what to do with them so it's good to create something with an artistic feel.
    Heartfelt thanks Dave.

Loved this. Not sure how you got bird to appear on the background but will play with this is ps cs6, Would love to see something like this but in a more drawing, sketching effect. I can never get the lines, outline how I would like, but still trying using many methods.

Terrific tutorial Dave! I so wish T2 would add the feature like in T1 to add a new image layer for compositing.

Oooh this one was a challenge to follow. I took notes (I usually do) so I can go back and review and re-watch.
I understand you wanted to share a difficult edit but I do prefer the green background.
Thanks for presenting new tricks for us to try.

You are welcome Arlene. I have been toying with the idea of adding Impression to two separate images and then compositing them together.

Dave, what a project to make two images look so creatively different when composited. Very enjoyable watching you struggle a bit to get the overall tone the way you want it = a learning experience. Say, could you do a favor? That little red "Subscribe" button in the bottom right is always on top of the lower slider settings you are adjusting. PS, LR Topaz, no matter the program, all the lower sliders are blocked by that Subscribe button. Since you almost never do any editing on the bottom left corner of the video, could you and RUclips move that button over there? That would be so helpful. Thanks for sharing this project.

Thanks Jer. I will see if I can figure a way to either change, move or make the Subscribe Button Smaller. Thanks for the heads up.

@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Do you have any suggestions?

I am using a Wacom Tablet that is about 8 years old and it works fine. Are you having trouble drawing around the subject with the Compute brush using your mouse? If you are my suggestion would be to start with a left click of you mouse and then move to a different area of the subject and hold down your shift key and left click again with your mouse and the two points will be connected. Continue doing this until your selection is complete. This is a very fast and effective way of making your selection. This can be faster than hand painting with a pen. I hope this helps.

Dave, I would like to see you do this entirely within Topaz products. Is that possible for us poor folks without Photoshop.

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly

You can do an image composite in TS2 but at this point you would need to launch Mask Ai as a plugin in TS2 for the composite and it gives wonderful results. You can then add a painterly effect on the composited image. I tried something new on this image and that was to apply a painterly effect to the background and a different painterly effect the foreground image and then composite together. For this image it needed either Photoshop or Affinity Photo.

Creat tutorial! Is it also possible to do all the editing in Topaz, without using Photoshop?

Thanks Willem. You can get amazing results for Painterly images using TS2 as a Stand Alone App on a single image.
