  • As members of the NASA Langley Research Center, Dr. Stephen Rizzi is a Senior Researcher for Aeroacoustics, Dr. Douglas Nark is a Senior Research Scientist, Technical Lead for Acoustics for the NASA Advanced Air Transport Technology Project of the Advanced Air Vehicles Program, and Dr. Nikolas Zawodny is a Research Aerospace Engineer for Aeroacoustics Branch. In this lecture, they discuss rotary-wing noise and hold a question-and-answer session.

    While these guys seemed to have the credentials and have talked about many equations and acoustic-specific terms, this was a completely useless lecture with the exception of the one comment about noise of narrow tip props compared to elliptical. Who is really going to use those equations in the contest? Why not show images of propellers that would perform better than others? Talk about pitch and blade count? Talk about things that matter for thrust/noise. Everybody needs to be safe, but first we need to know about performance.
