    I used 44 gallon drums. High tensile wire looped through both holes with a twist to make an attachment loop. Awkward to handle but high lift capacity of Around 200 kg each.

    this is an awesome vid, no need for those expensive lift bags.

      cylotec14 not for a light boat sitting on top of the sandy bottom. If you have a large boat embedded in silt, you need the big expensive bags.

    Apart from diving training, are there any special requirements needed to do this as a job?
    I ask because I'm interested in trying to pursue a career in something like this.

    Just out of curiosity, why wouldn't step one be to remove the motors? Get the heaviest items off and you'd need far less lift to raise it.

    • @1967250s
      @1967250s 5 лет назад

      Easier to lift whole boat. Removing motors is hard under water.

    To really improve this video two things need to happen.
    First you need to do some narration.
    Second, Get rid of that horrible moosac playing in the background. It was similar to having a drunken surgeon removing my wisdom teeth with a dull scalpel and and recyclining used needles sourced from a HIV clinic.

    Is it a very viable career to go into, salvage diving? I'm in my 20s and very interested in starting. I looked at the commercial diving school DIT in Seattle. But I don't know if its worth $20,000 and 7 months training to go into salvage diving. Is the pay worth the hours and the training? Do you enjoy it.

    • @robertproctor1358

      Darth Krayt, my girlfriend brother went through the Seattle diving school and did salvage and then was hired by the oil companys to work on drilling riges and he made a lot of money doing that.

    Can those motors be cleaned up and run again?

    • @granttgmwendlrestorations8760
      @granttgmwendlrestorations8760 5 лет назад

      Yes just drain the oil and fuel put new oil in first than crank the engine over to prevent flash rust than replace the spark plugs than give her fuel and 9/10 she will run again

    That's very cool. It looks like a lot of fun as well as costly. I have a few questions if you do not mind answering them. a. Were you contracted by the Boats Owner to salvage the vessel? Or did you just stumble across the vessel? b. If you came across this randomly, what are the laws regarding ownership once you pulled the vessel to land? If it was just an abandoned boat, or if the owner is known.

    • @MickScarborough
      @MickScarborough 9 лет назад +2

      Patrick Murphy laws differ state to state. Florida, the number one state for registered boats, has no salvage laws. You cant raise a sunken boat and then claim it for your own in Florida. Other states and other countries you can.

    Would Truck tire inner tubes work?
    Take then down with no air in them, tie them around the boat, and inflate them. :)

    • @judahsmemes6987
      @judahsmemes6987 6 лет назад

      They would probably explode before you got to the top. As you go up, the pressure drops, the air would expand drastically.

    • @skeetersaurus6249
      @skeetersaurus6249 6 лет назад +3

      Yes, actually 'farm tractor' tubes have been used for 'bag lifting'...and you can make your own, if you can 'sew canvas'... The key to 'not exploding' is knowing your working depth, and understanding Boyle's Law...for every 33-ft of depth (10-m), your size will double (or half)...so a 14-38 tractor tube will hold about 2-cubic ft of air (at 1-psi surface). This will float about 130-lbs (at surface)...but if you take it down to 33-ft, it will compress to 2-ATM's (or about 16-psi) and will only occupy 1-cubic ft of displacement...Commercial bags have MANY features that 'homemade bags' do not...
      In reality, the ABSOLUTE BEST 'flotation bag' you can make, at home, is to take a 55-gallon blue-barrel (water barrel - HDPE) and remove the 'top bungs', now run plastic-coated cable through both bungs, and anchor into a 'closed loop'....now, add a carabiner (a REAL one rated to 5500 N force, or more) and attach it to the cable...now...sink the barrel, affix it to the item you want to 're-float', and turn it upside down...now, start adding air (a surface-air line is best for this, so as to not deplete your own tank air). The barrel CAN'T explode, because the bottom end (top end where bung holes are located) are OPEN...so just fill with air! It will lift up to 450-lbs in fresh water, per barrel, and will 'off-gas' the compressed air as it rises (through the open bungs), so that the barrel cannot explode. CAREFUL though...it WILL rise rapidly as it ascends...and unless you have been salvage-trained on safety, doing this can be DEADLY, no matter what tools you use!
