But a single direct hit from rocket can put down any Helicopter, those wind blade are not gona tank those shockwave impact and It would easily dent those windblade and when windblade are damage, the helicopter itself will have hardtime to fly.
In fairness I was once told by a former door gunner that in that sort of situation you don't expect to hit them but put enough tracer in the air to distract them from hitting you.
Funnily enough that was also a big part of the difference in anti-aircraft effectiveness between the Japanese and Americans in world war 2. The Japanese 25mm anti aircraft gun didn’t use tracers, and as a result american air strikes were generally significantly more accurate since the pilots thought the air was clear. That fault was remedied by the later part of the war, but still neat to see it used across branches like that.

Pretty sure the tracers give feedback to the gunner, but also give pilots a greater ability to evade. Id think we’d have more casualties from not seeing it coming yet have the surviving pilots be 100% accurate due to no evasion. Sort of a survivor bias. All i got from that was that our airstrikes were precise but nothing of AAA effectiveness lol.
@@Zoooker1 The distraction was the point, pilots were more afraid of being shot down when they could see the tracers so they were less focused on their bombing. That was specifically stated in numerous after action reports from american carriers.

its armored and the huey is not, what most likely happened huey blades destroyed themselves on mi-24 armored hull. Maybe not, but I guess thats what happened. Would it survive IRL ? Maybe. Depends how strong the huey blades are and how resistance armor provides.

The hind isn't a tank in real life. It's very easily taken down with any missile. The stinger took down hundreds and there plenty of videos showing it being downed with a single missile very consistently.
Reminds me of that mission from operation flashpoint (Arma) where you squad needs to evacuate the Island of Everon. Your squad leader calls in the UH1H. You see it coming from the horizon only to see it later get blown out of the sky by a hind.
To be fair, the thing was designed to be near invulnerable to 7.62 machinegun fire. Its like a flying tank. Everything important to keep it in the air is either 1. Redundant or 2. Armored... (Or both) You need 50cal HMG rounds minimum or (ideally) 20mm or better cannon fire to kill one quickly.
@@stinkyfungus It is rated to take 12.7mm too, and in Afghanistan they were able to survive 14.5x114mm shots, but it doesn't quite seem like DCS has its damage model dialled in yet - it shouldn't be able to just eat unguided rockets and survive.
We have learned that Hind: -Have ATGMs more precise than Tunguska -Have tail rotor that can survive direct hit with a nuke -Catches fire when pilot or gunner drops hes cig -Falls down only if weight of the bullets that hit it exceeds MTOW -Pretends to be a Warthog and uses 30mm all the time forgetting about gun pods

@@lowskillcamper I dont think 7,62 is an issue. Those rockets seem too accurate and direct hit on the rotor blade .... strange. Its like the blade cut the rocket instead of it properly detonating. It does seem a bit over the top. I dont think the rocket landed on the rear rotor, but the main one, why would it smoke and wobble then. Since I bet no fail explosions happen, it means that the blade is either so strong or the rocket as no explosive power in it. I do not know how actually effective 55/57 mm rockets are.
After seeing Long Shot's performance as the tail gunner in this and another mission in a UH-1H with Growling Sidewinder, I now appreciate Long Shot's RUclips screen name even more.
I think the damage model on the Hind is broken as he seemed bullet proof in the first couple of matches and then took like 3 rockets and still flew, when I saw that I thought "IT. IS. ALIVEEEEE" (Dr. Frankenstein style)

@@XPACT3 D is not the same generation as mi-24V/P.. They arent even the same mission. I think that movable 23 mm not being fixed and better area spray would help a lot vs crapache. Still, that R-60M or what it used should be of use as well. I dont know much about the crapache radar though, can it detect airborne or only ground ?
Something up with guns on the HUEY? I had similar situation when engaging the Mi-8 which was hovering, i.e. stationary target. Took forever to down and soaked up so many rounds I thought I was shooting at the tank lol. HUEY guns are no problem vs. soft ground targets, but Russian helicopters OTOH... I know Hind is armored. But Mi-8??? Enjoyed the video, thanks.

I once had a nightmare I was on foot in Afghanistan or somewhere being chased by a Hind and the final impression before I woke up in a cold sweat was, I'm minced meat, hot metal tearing me up 😰 Revenge at last
Hahaha The Hind pilot took his evasive maneuver straight from Han Solo... a lazy drift to the left. It was enough to dodge an Imperial Star Destroyer and it was enough to dodge Longshot.
Many years ago I got a chance to fly in an actual US Army Cobra attack helicopter simulator. The instructor pointed out a Hind flying below and in front of us. I shocked him by shooting down the Hind with air to ground rockets. Lucky shot!
What the hell? I know it's armored pretty decently, but that's just ridiculous! I was actually expecting the video to end in you realising that it was set to invulnerable.

Something up with guns on the HUEY? I had similar situation when engaging the Mi-8 which was hovering, i.e. stationary target. Took forever to down and soaked up so many rounds I thought I was shooting at the tank lol. HUEY guns are no problem vs. soft ground targets, but Russian helicopters OTOH... I know Hind is armored. But Mi-8???

If i remeber correctly, the soviets wanted all their geavy helicopters to be able to withstand 50bmg.
Having fired m60,s from the door of a Huey in the army, it’s not easy to hit the target when the target is stationary much less a moving target

@@DBSTH0R 7.62mm are peashots against armored helicopter, unless you literally chop the blades off the Hind could probably tank it all day, the Hip on the other hand...

Hahaha The Hind pilot took his evasive maneuver straight from Han Solo... a lazy drift to the left. It was enough to dodge an Imperial Star Destroyer and it was enough to dodge Longshot.
If that hind was an MI-35M or MI-24A with the flexible turret mount, they'd be dead meat.
Many years ago I got a chance to fly in an actual US Army Cobra attack helicopter simulator. The instructor pointed out a Hind flying below and in front of us. I shocked him by shooting down the Hind with air to ground rockets. Lucky shot!
