I really want some of these but I don't get why the lack of elbow articulation. its like the said oh look we already have knee joints ..that's enough for now . I have some the older Matchbox/harmony gold robotech toys that can fit figures and I was hoping for a super articulated Zentraedi warrior to pilot the officer pod and battle pods !
Finally articulated, modern Macross figures. Harmony gold crap why the wait? Scale is off. As usual for this story. Like them though but too expensive.
great review. been waiting a long time for decent 4" scaled robotech/macross figures and these are great but Why .. oh Why did they omit elbow joints ! I do hope if we get a second wave (fingers crossed for a micronised Zentraedi warrior) they add those elbows and may be ankles !
Consider me a little bit confused here. Is the 'September' release date you have mentioned be the mass-retail release? I ask because I am gathering information on any figures I do buy (versus pre-order) have the correct release dates. Plus didn't Minmei's SDCC figure have gold paint while the standard was said to use yellow? I only ask because I picked up both carded versions of my favorite character on eBay. And she happens to not be that character. Beyond that... My only complaints with these figures are two-fold: One being that they recycled the bodies for the male figures. And the other being that the arms lack even the most basic of articulation. That is much it since I grew up with G.I.Joe figures in the 1980s.
Why such limited articulation? I don't expect Figuarts level or even microman level but jeez at least as good as the matchbox ones The old matchbox figures could've been saved with some retooling and better quality. Keep them at 3" 3/4... they had pretty good articulation. I quite liked the Dana Sterling figure. Oh you could've made a Chinese hopping vampire joke
As a person who has collected a bunch of GI Joe and Star Wars figures, I got to say, Minmei looks a bit too baby faced. That said, the pilots don't look half bad. I'm a little disappointed that they don't have more articulation though.
Yet another SMFH moment with Toynami. I REALLY hate that they are still Robotech license holders. I was so excited to learn that these figures were on the way, until I saw them. No accessories. Incomplete articulation. By this point, I think Toynami is just screwing with us.
Im surprised you gave these such a bad review (by that i meant opinion not your actual review;) since the likeness of action figures blows anything else away. Im sure there was 3D sculpting going on rather then the old hand sculpting. Anyways i have to ask do you have any videos or even any pages online that showcase those Matchbox figures and mainly their/the lines vehicles im curious about. Thanks! The negativity in the review was primarily focused on the lack of articulation... there's not much 'action' in these figures. I thought they did a decent job in the looks department for the size. I don't currently have a page though I've begun picking up figures in earnest so that one day I can have one. Unfortunately, the pages I used to rely on for Robotech toys are no longer online either. If you find some good reference material, let me know!
Robotech.com has alot of useless merch on there websites like mugs and such how many advertising products do they need. People are more interested in the mecha and anime but need to stop saturating the market with just veritechs they need to produce a hovertank, power armor mech, affordable SDF1, and fire the general manager that's running the company down the hole
Next will be with the same size VF-1 cockpit part for demonstration ~ I hope ! Those crap robotech figures from Macross ~ only the up body part looks can barely accept , but look at those faces closer ~ Jesus Christ , God and mother Maria ! ...........they really want to ruin your childhoods definitely...........

They could work with the Exo Squad mechs. Even with the Robotech toys by playmates, they tried to pass off as Exo Squad.

The figures are simple to replicate the kind of figures released in the 80s
