  • In this episode I return to the crevice at Trunkey Creek in search for gold. Is there still Gold to find? How much did I miss? I also search some old diggings with the metal detector. NOTE: This is a second upload. The first attempt missed some animations. #goldprospecting #goldpanning #goldpanning #metaldetecting #fossicking

      Cheers. I had many layers under the waders and rubber gloves so it was not too bad. Unlike last time when I was in swamped gumboots.

    Nice mate not bad good for such a little amount if time! Think that piece of lead was a buckshot that’s came into contact with something! Happy hunting!

      Cheers. Yeah, buckshot is the most likely. Maybe the ground. That would have scuffed it and disfigured it in a way to allow the earth to stick to it. Have a good one.

    The target is a piece of lead, lead can shine silver when you scratch it and often gets that nugget shape from being in fires and what not

    Shotgun pellet, they often get a white powdery coating on them when they have been in the ground for a while. Rub such finds on the end of your pick or a piece of stone and you will soon see that it is lead. Cheers good luck in the future.

      @@newman653 Quite right, our heritage, and it's in the national anthem, several elements apply, including from the little-heard second part, "from those who've come across the seas, we've boundless plains to share"... On some matters, I have these riot act reactions to questionable authorities on what's fair and good to know. Not like he'd cleaned up and left nothing, and even where he'd liked to return and hasn't been precise about where, other people had already been there, and not done their obligatory reclamation! So, fair crack is correct weight. We remember TV in the seventies, and on, about the Mount Costigan diggings, others first diggings out of Sydney, as well as the gem regions, though we're in Melbourne. I suppose we were aware enough a kid with the coming of colour television came a flurry of travel advice and outback documentary shows. Ask the Leyland Brothers! Travel Oz, etc. It's also a matter of new detector technologies making areas of otherwise marginal landscapes of illegal dumping and motorbiking, into interesting to cashed-up tourists, councils and heritage authorities, the gold is the tourists, because of responsible prospectors being the pioneer coaches. There'd be mining if the gold was payable, no public access.
      Cheers Newman. G.

    Cheers for the vid Jason. May I ask, how does the sizing of your waders compare to the sizing of your regular footwear? I have big feet and waders only go up to size 13 which is 50/50 for me to fit into, plus they're never in stock to try on... cheers again :)

      You’re welcome. Being technically a 9 1/2 and having the size 9 waders, I would say there is wiggle room in the feet. These are the Wildfish brand.

    They're good sized flakes among also the floury gold, Jason. Trunkey in full sneeze, good to see the comparison, you can see the line of flow and the points where kayaking gold flakes must carry a distance and snag, as those smooth rocks over jagged bedrock riffle traps, and the lack of slack sands, must get flushed out to the plains below, like I know what I'm talking about, hey, though the flakes must have shedded from more locally, and the ground-down flour gold from further up the creek, or previous geological activity causing secondary depositions into the creek, flood gold. So I'm told.
    I liked how you'd enunciated "In Search Of Australia" as one phrase, makes for the obvious in entity naming, but also a good bit of irony! Hope you find an American gold dollar, a Swedish silver Skelling, or George III silver with Chinese punchmarks, you get the picture, unobjectionable foreign objects!
    Objections not sustained include panning style, first agitation looked like champion speed panner, other videos show you're sensibly slow and steady to the last heavies - objection overruled! Sharing where to look, for nature's gifts, of beauty rich and rare, Australians all, let us rejoice, our lands are free to share, in courage let us all combine... Point of difference, it's yours, Jason, compared to virtually every other fossicking channel. Objection overruled! (Mic drop.)
    Good bookending, stay safe, Jason, but wondered if you'd rolled down the window and asked Skippy, "Okay, boomer?!" 🚗 🦘🌄

      Yes, they must be close to the source as some are rough as guts (to use a good Aussie term). It was a shame to have to do a lot of it by feel but we can’t choose the weather. One day my detector will find something more exciting than nugget looking buckshot and bullets surely it’s only a matter of time. I don’t mind criticism as it always gets me thinking in how to improve but thanks for support! With this spot being literally on the edge of town, I believe there is certainly more gold in them hills. I just might do a thorough search when there are longer days and the weather has a sunnier disposition. Always love the comments you make. Have a good one.

      @@InSearchOf...Australia an old prospecter told and taught me to make sure you allways keep your pan in the water when tipping an removing any unwanted rocks or sands and this will make sure you do not lose any gold if you have any in the pan 👍

    • @InSearchOf...Australia
      @InSearchOf...Australia  Месяц назад

      I think you will find I do this approach as well in other videos but I have seen some convincing tests that show so long that you agitate the gravel in the water well enough, gold will get to the bottom of the pan or corner and stick. This is why I don’t initially tip the pan that much when wiping off a top layer. But you do make me think I should do the experiment myself to be sure. Don’t want to lose any shiny stuff.
