Update: Before media day started, Penn State football communications made it clear that James Franklin or anyone else will not have any comments on Lyons and Keys.
Its more important to be a good person than being a good football player. Hopefully those kids learn a lesson. I commend Franklin for doing the right thing here. In the SEC this would have been buried...WE ARE !!!
Cut the crap Zach. Stop the pitty party. If these guys were so worried about team, morale and teammates they would not have put themselves in this situation. You’re either part of the problem or you’re part of the solution.
I’m not understanding your point. The team morale had to do with the team. I’m concerned about the team’s reaction, not what these two think about how they’re perceived.
Zach, I love your show always, but our players are working their asses off, and have a job to do buddy!!!! This would be very more important if it happens the last week of August, but now I see it differently, because young players behind them see this as an opportunity to step up and get playing time!!! WE ARE 🏈 Unrivaled
This is a positive. Coach is showing that behavior and morality trumps athletics. It DOES NOT crush team morale. It encourages EVERYONE to toe the line and commit to excellence in every aspect of their lives.
Carter may be forced back to linebacker if the young players miss their assignments. Log jam of talent forming at DE. Fortunately, it's the start of training camp and not the day before West Virginia.
Why is the program and everyone trying to protect these kids just call them out for what they did! They’re both accused of sexually assaulting and raping female student! Got caught so quickly because they were dumb enough to document it!
If they got kicked out of school then it's probably a serious legal situation and supersedes team rules. It's in everyone's best interests that CJF and all others keep their mouth shut.
The reason(s) for removing the two will determine the impact on team morale. By playing various team sports, I know that you're going to have certain teammates you don't like and don't want to associate with, but with whom you cooperate anyway for the good of the team. (the constant meme in the media "that team X is a close knit family" is mostly BS). So, removing these guys from the team could actually improve team morale - provided Franklin had a good reason for doing so. On the other hand, if he dumped them for trivial reasons (such as disrespecting his authority), the effect will be toxic.
Franklin obviously got rid of their asses because it was serious!!! Why, would totally get rid of two talented players to flash his authority???? He would suspend them for a couple weeks and put them in the doghouse!!@!
I agree with you in that if they did in fact commit the sexual assault/rape that is rumored then they may very well have been the type players that teammates tolerated or put up with because they had too. Morale may be better with them gone …next man up.
I don't want to make light of this, I don't know what happened and I probably never will... but, what I fear is that this event will become the reason for yet another disappointing PSU season. I say this Zach because the rhetoric is already trending that way. You and the rest of the media play an important role in holding the administration and the coaching staff accountable for managing these types of situations and overall team performance. I get that you have to walk a fine line to maintain relationships and access but if those things are in jeopardy because you're doing your job, it's time for a change
Franklin just wants to have an excuse "in his back pocket" when we miss the playoffs again this year. We miss the playoffs and Franklins A*S Needs To Go!!! No Excuses for him they're all used up!!!!!!!
100% we need to move on, but I don’t think he fosters an environment of sexual assault either. I’m sure he’s a fine person, he just can’t coach himself out of a wet paper bag
Who cares for one second about what you think of Franklin as a coach, he is a obviously a good man, because he did what Bama, Georgia, and Ohio State wouldn't do, kicked their asses off the team, not pay off people and cover it up!!@

It’ll affect the depth at that position, but I give Franklin a lot of credit. If it were Georgia, they would look the other way
Sad day in State College. But we will overcome this.
Not a problem. The problem would be if this happened in late October.
Its more important to be a good person than being a good football player. Hopefully those kids learn a lesson. I commend Franklin for doing the right thing here. In the SEC this would have been buried...WE ARE !!!
Penn State!

Its not crushing team moral that's just over the top. But they may never be back.
These are 18-22 year olds. It absolutely crushes team morale. That’s not to say they can’t overcome it.

Rape is a positive?

Everyone always bust on JF,yet he deserves credit for this decision. THEY screwed up. Nobody is above the team!
Why were they suspended?
We will never know the truth.
It will come out way down the line@dougmorris5625
@@dougmorris5625 Nor do we really need to.
I saw a post earlier about a possible sexual assault
Not innocent till proven guilty?
Why is the program and everyone trying to protect these kids just call them out for what they did!

TY
Ugh.... Whatever it is, it was ostensibly a joint venture, which kinda worsens it a good bit.
Must be something serious. Lyons is a former star. He'll find nobody else wants him.
It dosent help that james NEVER gives any details about disciplinary situations. I feel like hes gotta give us something here

Well shit. Two potential starting linebackers gone. That is unfortunately a very bad sign of where the defense is at
Always turmoil with Franklin!! He better keep it wired on Aug 31st!! West Virginia is legit!!

This is the Chicken Little Site. The sky is always falling. Whether it is WRs, recruiting or anything else it is always gloom and doom
You said it you’re not an expert in anything

James Franklin man. We need to move on from him.
Not a JF fan by any stretch lol but he is clearly not responsible for this
