As someone who has unashamedly owned The Mummy AND The Mummy Returns on VHS, DVD, and now Digital, I truly appreciate the shout outs (We don't talk about Tomb of the Dragon Whatever. You think you can just REPLACE Rachel Weisz and we'd just go along with it? Not even Benny's religion bling could save you from that curse).

If you're talking about PC, you should take a moment to look up proper settings. There's many resources and sites for the proper levels of brightness and contrast to have. I've set mine as proper as they can be with my horrible monitors. I always get a lot of my friends saying they can't see anything though and need to increase their gamma because their settings aren't right. Typically when the settings are proper on your monitor games don't need their gamma tweaked. If you're talking about mobile, then that's a whole other story.
There's an All In One at work using Intel gfx that claims to be a 32 bit display but the whites and the blacks are super crushed and nothing in the Intel display settings can fix it. Text boxes on bright backgrounds just look all white, there are some gross displays out there for sure.
I just wish developers would remember one of these days that alphabets aren't the only writing systems and that you don't have to have a "secret alphabet" that's just back-of-the-cereal-box style code where you connect one English letter to another symbol and there's same number of symbols as there are letters in the English alphabet. There's a large variety of writing systems, including abjads (where you don't write vowels only consonants, example is Arabic) and logographs (Chinese characters and Kanji symbols but not Kana which is syllabary) including theoretical ones that haven't ever been used on Earth but which might fit quite well if it's an invented eldritch language.
This brings me back to the time when Jirard kept shouting Y at Jesse who took it as WHY and couldn't finish the segment. Can't remember where that was, some quiz game perhaps.
A lot of the Dread X-2 games so far have been "bring back dead loved ones via evil ritual" type stuff. It's interesting the protagonists have been the ones doing the evil.
If anyone else is wondering which games so far have had this premise (SPOILER if you haven’t watched the previous episodes): The Thing in the Lake Squirrel Stapler Charlotte’s Exile

Geez this one made me jump and I was just watching it, I love horror but this must have been stressful to play lol Translating a text like this in fun tho Most of the games in this collection are awesome, I really need to buy it
The thing I hated most was the main character's voice performance and the editing on it. So many easily fixable clicks and pops. The game itself looked fantastic!
The Last Red note says I am infested and the book says that that monster takes over person and uses them for their own ends meaning the rest of the red notes in the book are wrong and designed to mislead you
@20:45 Went thru frame by frame and couldn't see anything. I think they're see a brief afterimage of the Cthulhu image on the book since it's in the exact position of where they think they see something when it looks up.
@@TheDapperDragon Ah ok, they reacted when it left. Jirard and Jesse made it seem like something popped up quickly and disappeared, but it was already there from earlier and was just gone now. It was weird because Jirard thought he was mistaken about something being there, so I dismissed something still being there.

they might not have recognized nyarlatheotep either. the game couldn't have been any more blatant, and they missed sooo much, there is no way they are big fans of lovecraft
As soon as they said Cthulhu was one of the big ones i thought wait.......but hes not. hes just not. now saying hes a minor power is still like saying a red dwarf star is "not very hot" but both statements are true!
I often find that Lovecraft's work is one of those areas where people like to PRETEND they're big fans of, but then haven't actually read much or any of the actual material. I was watching a play-through of The Sinking City (a fantastic Lovecraft-inspired game if you haven't heard of it), and the LP'er said that Shadow Over Innsmouth was one of his favorite stories, but then had literally no idea what the E.O.D. was, despite it being, y'know, the main cult in Shadow Over Innsmouth.
@@kybercat7 I mean, it said "monsters", which to me implied the very lowest lovecraftian horrors - your shoggoths and such. By those standards, they were right.
You can be a fan of something without doing all the background research. I consider myself a fan of the Cthulhu mythos, but have not read the original texts (I’ve heard it’s a slog, and I enjoy the lore that’s been added on to it by others, anyway). So I recognize a lot of the names (in large part due to Arkham Horror, the board game), but I’m clearly not an expert, and I didn’t recognize the yellow sign or any of the other specific signs. Why be so judgmental of them? Let them enjoy what they want to enjoy. They’re not claiming to be experts, nor have they said they read all the stories-they just like the lore, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

My favorite thing about SGS is that you never know when a Mummy reference might pop up.
I think this is the one I enjoyed the most of this set so far!
Mom just got home with pizza and now scary game squad ... shitty day just got a whole lot better
“Not quite hound and not quite being... the Hounds are Beings”
Everyone: Symbol
Jirard: Second letter
...Jirard is an Old God
Games where you KNOW something is constantly sneaking up on you and you can't physically stop them are my bread and butter dude. Got me over here screamin'.
15:55 lol that reading is like... If you look up "Reading comprehension" in the oxford dictionary, this audio comes up as an example of NO reading comprehension what so ever. It's like he doesnt even know what he's saying.
It’s a good feeling to not be notification squad and still feel it in your bones when Jesse arrives
"We've played other games where these appear."
Pokemon? Cause those were Unown. More or less. (the one he circled repeatedly was a W Unown with an extra bit sticking out the bottom, for example)
Alex's super delayed "OH HE'S HERE! HE'S HERE!" might just be the highlight.
I love how Davis doesn't take shit over Lovecraft's stuff. His anger towards Jesse making a fuss over Nyarlatothep's pronunciation was gold
I LOVED this game, so amazingly creative, but Jesse is a bit of spaz
Wow.. I love these these boys, but damn do they make puzzles harder on themselves than they need to be 🙈
It would have been so easy, but they completely skipped one of the pages at the beginning that gave them the answer to like 5 letters..
But damn did they figure it out eventually!
This game is awesome, a Cthulhu-ey, Five Nights At Freddy's-ish, decoding game? Very cool indeed.
I’m someone that always has my screen brightness set really low so I was with Alex! I didn’t see anything until I turned my brightness up
If you're talking about PC, you should take a moment to look up proper settings.
SGS is the best part of my day!!!
Them not knowing the discord symbol. I love my “hip with the kids” uncles.
As Alex says he sees and hears nothing, while Jesse and Jirard are losing their minds, I just keep thinking "how so I reach these kiiiids"
This game is actually really cool
Y! It's a Y not a U!
I was so frustrated with that, too! Lol. I was like, "Am I the only one who can read gothic font?!"
If anyone else is wondering which games so far have had this premise (SPOILER if you haven’t watched the previous episodes):
The Thing in the Lake
Squirrel Stapler
Charlotte’s Exile
20:55 i literally paused and went frame by frame, there was nothing there, LOL xD
Finally! Thanks Jesse. I need my daily hit.
I really wanted QUACK to equal DAVIS XD
this is clearly because of all her webs
Love these hour long scares
"Was this road always 4 lanes? Or did it used to be 3? I think it was always 4." ... THERE ARE 5 LANES IN THE IMAGE! Lady be crazy.
4+emergency lane :D
Alright! New video for me to ingest into my ravenous, content desiring brain! Let's see what we're doing today, Jesse.
Jesse: *Boots up game and the first thing after the intro is a book with the yellow sign on it.*
Well damn it all to hell, here we go again. Got you this time, you enigmatic, rag-wearin', madness inducin', self entitled, unfathomable eldritch deity. *Cocks shotgun.* Got an Elder Sign's worth of buckshot in here!
Do you guys really not know what Discord is? That just distracted me from the entire thing lol
Scary boomer squad
@@matthewguthrie586 Jesse also called gothic script Old English despite being a history teacher so we're really running with all cylinders here.
@@CraftsmanOfAwsomenes You really think his history degree is going to cover script?
They're streaming it to each other over discord.
@@madhippy3 Not at all. I do think someone with a history degree should probably know what "Old English" means though?
Geez this one made me jump and I was just watching it, I love horror but this must have been stressful to play lol
Translating a text like this in fun tho
Most of the games in this collection are awesome, I really need to buy it
The thing I hated most was the main character's voice performance and the editing on it. So many easily fixable clicks and pops. The game itself looked fantastic!
The Last Red note says I am infested and the book says that that monster takes over person and uses them for their own ends meaning the rest of the red notes in the book are wrong and designed to mislead you
Jesus H Christ, I near shat myself. I can't do this at night.
"You've nailed it, my son"
Oh, he is getting nailed in the Maw alright ..
The rubber duck became an eldrich God to haunt davis
Was about to click on a text message notification and this overtook it and I ended up here 20 seconds into notification.. I regret nothing..
What a great little game!
This would be an awesome full game with research elements.
I'm pretty sure the runes on the main screen read "eldritch exile"
@20:45 Went thru frame by frame and couldn't see anything. I think they're see a brief afterimage of the Cthulhu image on the book since it's in the exact position of where they think they see something when it looks up.
Look in the doorway. It looks like a doorknob, but its DEFINENTLY the Eue of Nyarl
@@TheDapperDragon "the Eue of Nyarl". Hmm, could be a typo or a subtle joke about them not being able to tell the difference between "Ryl" and "Rul". ;)
18:10 Oh, come on! None of them recognize the Yellow Sign? I thought the SGS said they liked Lovecraftian horror!
they might not have recognized nyarlatheotep either. the game couldn't have been any more blatant, and they missed sooo much, there is no way they are big fans of lovecraft
