As a Maritimer, I'd say most events here show preference to local creators. We don't have a ton of events, and space is very limited, so we really like to support the locals.
Good to know!! I have quite a few friends from Vancouver flying out, will have to ask them how their experience is!
I just started doing markets over the last year and Ive found that nowhere has quite “clicked” for me. However it’s been a huge eye-opener and has let me know which markets I should NOT be doing, which helps me figure out which ones I should be doing. Honestly, I think finding out what doesn’t work is just as important as figuring out what DOES work.
A really great reminder of the kind of mindset that leads to not only success but contentment! Learn from all “mistakes”, and control what variables you can. Wishing you best of luck!!
I don’t know how you make conversation and look so excited about it. I’m such an introvert and making conversation makes me feel awkward. lol. So scary. Kudos to you.
@12:18 hey theres me! it was so wonderful seeing your art at ai-kon and being your table neighbour, we love when we get new artist from out of town! I totally understand the sentiment about not doing well at anime cons, I really struggle at comic con events and have found they are totally not worth it for me at this time. Maybe that will change in the future, however I hope you enjoyed your overall experience in winterpeg city and Aikon!
thank you for sharing your vending experience and con acception/rejections. been feeling a lil down about not getting into many cons this year or losing out on lotteries. there’s just so much competition & so many talented artists out there! we’re all struggling haha
I say don't berate yourself for having those feelings and voicing them. At a really slow art show I got a chance to talk to some of the other artists and kept hearing the phrase "I'm just here to have a good time" and thought I was the only one with a negative outlook, which made me feel that much worse. When I was asked how I felt about the show I decided to be honest and told them "I don't like paying people to waste my time," and the other artist laughed, agreed, and we ended up talking much more.
Expressing a negative opinion or emotion isn't always complaining, and regardless of label it's an okay thought to have! It's better to release it than ruminate over how you're not having a good time and on top of that you're a bad person for feeling that way. Observe the thought and if it isn't serving you in any way, take a deep breathe and imagine the thought as a cloud that you blow away.
X-Files is always a good choice to re-watch! One of my favorites for sure
I started journaling & uhhh mood noting? this week. It has helped quite a bit in acknowledge my feeling and take an overview of how my day actually went. Changecmy perspective on what initially felt like bad days.
I love this suggestion 💗 thank you!!

I am from Winnipeg but have lived in Los Angeles for years. Maybe my cousins stopped by.
I was soso happy to see you in Winnipeg! I absolutely adore the cat safari zine and loved getting to chat in person
for sure a struggle of a con to be at but im happy I got to see you none the less!
thank you so much for grabbing Cat Safari!!! take care!!
You have such a beautiful spirit
I cope with tears, lots and lots of tears
I completely understand the feeling of disappointment. Lethbridge Expo was like that for me
You aren’t the only person I heard that from re:Lethbridge 🙃 so sorry!!!! Learning experience!
@@ArtbyTuna Oh yeah, Lethbridge was an Experience all right lmao. I'm in an artist chat where we still have moments of "At least it's not Lethbridge" or "hey so what even was that"
thank you for sharing ups and downs of artist alley xD I will be attenting artist alley for the very first time in november, so exited and nervous xD love your vids and ur art is so cute
I wonder when you sell for multiple days at a convention, do you leave all your products on your table at the end of the day or you pack eveything back and bring it with you to your hotel? i'd be scared that someone steal my stuff but packing and unpacking everyday must be very tiring
Yeah you can leave it!!! Most people remove the “self serve” items from the tabletop and cover with a tarp, just to remove temptation. However, the apace is usually locked tight with security. Just be sure to bring home your valuables!
HUSBAND... Where's my rock?? 💍 HAHA!! I'm glad the weekend turned out alright in the end! I know sometimes we can feel discouraged or imposter syndrome in the middle of shows, or feel like we'd rather be elsewhere... Completely normal, it happens! Loved the vlog and insights ❤
LOLLL!!! 💍 💍 ding ding!!! Thank u love, I am super glad you had a rockstar time even if getting sick was the equivalent exchange 😂 see you at the next one!!!
i started tableing and as a newby (here at least) its hell to get in anywhere. Imidiate rejection while you see the same artists at that con over and over. its frustrating haha
You will fall IN LOVEEEEE with hazbin hotel and helluva boss!!! Please give it a shot and watch them❤!
