I spent the early 1990s with my then (now late) wife getting thrown around on off road trails in a SWB FJ40. We'd sing along with Paul Kelly, Cold Chisel and ACCA DACCA at the tops of our lungs! Cancer took her from me 28 years ago. Your Thunderstruck rendition brought back a lot of memories, and I thank you.
Paul does seem to be a great teacher. Wish I could find someone with that patience and attitude to teach my oldest to drive. She's 24 with extreme anxiety and limited time to learn. I've been trying to teach her but we are like oil and water at times.
@rollinrat4850 Thanks rollinrat. So far we do the empty part of the mall parking lot, or the whole thing after close and a nearby park. Unfortunately where we live there is nothing but traffic. I grew up in the country but there's nothing similar around here. She does really good with what we've done, but she's gonna have to do traffic at some point. With her anxiety and other issues she doesn't always take direction from a parent well. Someone else she would be less "rude".
@rollinrat4850 LOL. We usually use my car (2016 kia sportage) but in feb she bought herself a 2022 mazda. We use both for learning. Most of the driving schools here use the students car and her work hours don't give her a lot of time during their "hours of operation" to schedule lessons, and her work schedule tends to change without notice. At almost $200 for a 90 minute lesson it's not cheap. Her husband was supposed to be helping teach her but well we won't go into my opinion of him, and they have a 2yr old. Things get complicated fast.
@rollinrat4850 She's very careful when she does drive. She just gets hit with the anxiety due to all the rampant idiots and that's not good. I would love for her to be able to learn out in the middle of nowhere like I did, just nothing even remotely uncongested anywhere near us. We will work on slow and steady. Just wish I could find someone with Paul's patience to help out. I'll keep checking out the local driving schools and we will see what we can get done. Really considering buying her a used military humvee, lol, inconsiderate jerks can move or get run over. Anyway, thanks for the chat.
Paul is doing the best thing for hunter. Being there just in case but letting him figure it out for himself. You guys are awesome. Good job hunter keep at it and you will be great.
This is by far one of the best Fab Rats videos I've seen, and I've watched nearly all of them. Thanks guys for bringing us along for this longer and unique ride! : )
That was an awesome trip. We got to see Hunter grow just a bit more. Michelle and her lovely singing added to the video. Paul you sir are a very lucky husband, uncle and father. Thanks for taking us along it was a blast.

What an epic video! Tons of fun, beautiful scenery, and good people. Kudos to the editor for the great storytelling. Seeing Clayton and Hunter sharing father/son moments throughout was the icing on the cake. Well done to you all!
I was watching this this morning. The family feel is beyond soul warming. Thank you Merlin, Paul, Clayton, Michelle, and most of all Hunter. You guys are what the spirit of off road and extended family means to me!
Hunter has learned a lot just from riding along and watching on all the trips. He did very well and you can tell his dad was proud of him. Good job Hunter !!!!!
Thank you all so much for taking me along with on such a beautiful ride. You took me to a place, that without you, I would have never been able to see. That ride brought beauty into my life.
When hunter and his dad finally finished his first trail, it brought tears of joy, all of you guys are so lucky to have each other as a family and friends, just love you all,
It’s the last day of the Elk Hunt, just ran into Paul way back off the oil. No luck with the Elk so I sat on a ridge and watched the Video. What a cool experience. Thanks for inviting me along. I really had a blast and am proud of Hunter and his abilities to adapt. Awesome video as always…,
Everyone seemed proud of Hunter - and with good reason! He is becoming a very capable young man, prepared to take on challenges and learn! I still remember driving and learning with my dad, and I'm a Grandfather now! 🙂
This is the best RUclips video I have ever watched! I had tears rolling down my cheeks through it. The duets Michelle and Paul displayed were my favorites but Hunters facial expressions will last forever!
This has got to be one of the most enjoyable post from you guys and that says a lot. The scenery was spectacular. Watching Hunter And Clayton experiencing this together was special. I’m certain this memory will be etched permanently in your memories. Looking for a return in 2024 with the first upgrades on the Jeep.
One of the best videos you have made!!! Tell Hunter that he did amazing and he should make a RUclips channel called “Thanks for Being in the Cab with me “
This video was really put together very well. You managed to capture the hype and nerves leading up to the trip and the feeling of accomplishment at the end. Not to mention everything in between with the passing along of experience to a novice. Such a great group of people. Excellent camera angles and editing with the music as well. Super impressed with this one.

So very proud of Hunter. He did outstanding out there. Couldn't have any better influence and teachers in his life. Kudos FabRats, Merlin and company. Awesome seeing Hunters dad out there too.
I've been watching Fab Rats a long time and this has to be one of the best videos yet. Good camera work, excellent editing and music choice. Content just fun and wholesome. Thank you.
Glad you were able to come enjoy one of our local trails. It is a must do. We cleared 488 trees off the Dusy Ershim this year to open it. A typical year has around 100 to 150 trees. Hopefully next time you can allow more time to explorer some of the amazing short hikes and other trails in the area as well.

What a great video! Next to the Rubicon Trail you guys did a couple of years back, this is my favorite off-roading video you've done. The editing was superb allowing us to see the beauty of the area and also to inject some humor in appropriate places. Hunter is very fortunate to have Paul and Merlin on his team to teach him the ins and outs of off-roading. He did a fantastic job for his first time! Now to get his Jeep more trail worthy and he'll become a trail master! Keep up the great work Fab Rats! Can't wait for the next video.

Great job Hunter it looks like you and your dad put the whole gang had a great time
What a great video!
Is Michelle actually Hunter's mom??
@@MaggieandMissyPugsThey are no relation.
@@MaggieandMissyPugs jeez, watch the video and absorb!
Cheers!
Between the interaction between Paul and Michelle singing and watching Hunter learn to drive offroad with his Dad, I think this may be one of the best videos yet! Love this channel!
I love all the ditch slapping where Paul and Michelle were doing the whole time filling in for where the radio was missing!
Have a great weekend everyone , and you did great Hunter.
Hey Hunter. If you read these. Well done.
And when the build starts and Paul says you don't need doors, remember how nice it is to have a heater and doors.
Good luck pal.
One of the things I love most about this channel is that It's all about family!!
I’m so impressed with how Hunter handled his Jeep! Great job!!!
That's crazy that other kid treated that Jeep like that. Spoiled brat.
Nice to see Paul and Hunter give it some ❤.
I caught myself cheering for Hunter as he was getting help with the yank em rope! Awesome video
