You're awesome as usual! Forgive me as I haven't had time to watch the full video, however I want to ask, have you studied Marc's older work? I only ask because the style he worked in on this style is very different, he drew a lot of inspiration from Bernie Wrightson for this, and to my understanding he had been working on this Batman project for nearly a decade or more prior to it being released (would be really hard to meet a monthly deadline working in this style). Keep up the great work!
Hello friend! I haven't no, I was originally going to do a study series on his New X-Men as that was my favourite Silvestri style, but then I saw this after it being suggested and I was blown away! I should absolutely do a series on Bernie though, that would be 6 months worth of videos in itself haha! That's so cool to know that it took Marc so long to create it. It makes sense when looking at the art, as it does slowly change with some pages looking really quite different to others, not to mention the cover being really minimally rendered in comparison to the interior. Sorry for the ramble, thank you for the comment James! :D
Artist suggestion: He's not very active these days, but back in the 80s one of my favorite comic artists was Geoff Senior. He did a lot of work in the UK Marvel Transformers comics, and also had a unique IP called "Dragon's Claws" published by Marvel UK. His style is very cartoony and looks simplistic at first, but the more you look the more you see how he uses spot blacks/shadow to emphasize mood/depth, and he was *fantastic* at conveying movement/momentum. If I'm having trouble thinking of how to make my characters look more lively on the page, one thing I ask is "How would Geoff Senior draw this action?"
Oooo I've just had a little google and I really like his Transformers work so far! You're right in that it's cartoony, but it's very very well done! I'll see if I can get ahold of some of his work to study :)
Corona and Silvestri! I see a pattern now. I read Ain’t no grave and I saw some panels with Silvestri’s rendering, like Death’s hair. I like your videos, good analyses.
I loooove Jorge Corona's work! He's definitely one of my favourite 'modern not 90's style' artists haha. His inking has so much texture, I love it haha. And you're totally right about Death's hair!
Thanks for another video, Pancake! I'm always glad to see a new one. If only I knew how to study and begin to draw like this lol. Amazing rendering though
Thank you Randy for watching and supporting me! :D I'm hoping maybe my videos give you a general direction of how to study this style. :) I'm considering doing an updated video of how I study comics, so maybe that will also help you!
I'd love to see one of these done about Vincent Dutrait, master board game illustrator. Not exactly comics but has a great vibe that makes each of his games almost a graphic novel.
Oh wowow this is such a cool suggestion! :O His work is absolutely wonderful! And he does it with coloured pencils!? My mind is well and truly blown haha! Just at a glance his colour choices almost remind of Siya Oum's, it's very very cool!
It would be great if you made a separate video about constructing perspective in comics using John Byrne's X-Men: Elsewhen as an example. In this comic, the auxiliary perspective lines are clearly visible.
Thank you for the very specific suggestion! I'm now half way down a rabbit hole of reading and ogling these pencil pages on what looks like John Byrne's own form? It's really interesting as he uses SO MANY horizontal lines in panels sometimes, even though I can't see the thought process behind it sometimes. Very very cool, thank you for suggesting it
Great light and shadows analysis. Now I want to draw faces in his style
@Viltrumite_Corr thankyou my friend! 😁 can't wait to see what you come up with!!
finally u r back with another video

I recognize him more for some of the work he did while he was in image Comics. I enjoyed some of his series.
amazing video, like always
