Saw someone with the Luxury Black Card at the Priority Pass lounge at MSY. He overheard me talking about cards to my friends and he showed me his card and raves about how it gets him into lounges. I told him about the venture x and he may have been humbled lol
Saw a guy with it in a facebook group, had to ask him about it and he said he was just curious to see if he’d get approved, and wants to cancel it
One of my coworkers actually has the black luxury card and he really enjoyed showing off the card, specifically how rare it is, how heavy it is, and how he supposedly could redeem it at a higher rate compared to competitors, but eventually I explained to him How the points multipliers and the other aspects of the card were actually quite terrible. Eventually, he got rid of the card for an American Express platinum

Hi Sebby! do you think the Hilton Honors Surpass the best credit card to sign up for if I plan to spend 28k at a Hilton hotel venue? 155k sign up plus 12x points for Hilton charges. Could potentially be 491k points total plus free 5th night and another free night for 15k spend.
This could be 5-6 nights in bora bora, Maldives, etc. At least 5-6k in hotel nights.
What do you think? Just worried Hilton points aren’t as valuable. Would be my first Amex

🏀 I'll be the one who says it.... The luxury cards are marketed for materialistic people who just want to look good in front of other people. The luxury cards are still around because they work with their target audience.
They don't even look good. The Titanium and black both look like Monopoly cards; like they're not even real cards. Just something akin to "my first credit card!" Like a secured credit card with $100 deposited limit for Junior when he turns 16.
🏀Sebby: I used your advice to get the full Chase suite in the last 14 months (Flex, Sapphire Preferred, Unlimited, Amazon Prime, Ink Cash). To address the 5/24 rule, I am now past the anniversary of the Flex. Do I need to cancel it so I can apply for a new one (and new promotion) in 13 months or could I be approved for a new one while still holding one?

If I were to redesign the card, I would probably focus it towards people in their late 20s or early 30s, with credits towards online gaming purchases, fitness purchases, and may be certain restaurants

🏀 These cards don't make financial sense for consumers but only for Barclays. You can't break even financially with any of them. Any other premium credit card is a much better offer. What needs to change is their approach to the card: provide more value to allow consumer break even and add a feature to give it a unique identity. The only identity this card has is a waste of money.

90k is a good offer, but would maximize 5/24 first. YMMV based on travel plans.
I manage a gentleman's club, and I always laugh to myself when I guy pulls one of these out in a way that's supposed to impress the entertainers. These girls are used to seeing centurion cards and are not impressed. Lmao

You deduct the business expense from your income for a tax deduction, *not a tax credit*. I think with as much knowledge as most likely most of the viewership here has about credit cards, willingly applying for this card is like consciously trying to touch the hot end of a curling iron with your barehand.
