I watched 10 videos on this plant. Your video is the best by far. Thank you.
Thank you for this video.
Thank you😊
I just ordered 2 and I can't wait to get them in the ground. I'm in zone 9 so our midday sun can get super scorching. I've decided I'm going to put them where they'll get several hours of morning sun and then some early evening sun. Hopefully that'll be enough.
Can't wait to plant these.
ohhh now I need one of these!
Are these a late startup in spring...its 4/23/24..and no buds on my shrub
I didn’t fertilize in winter and now we are approaching spring, what can I feed my bush with ?
Do you sell them and what colors do the come in, I like yellow very much ! Pease respond !
Very nice.
Another thumbs up
Can you plant then in August
Can I buy a grafted bud Leila where all 3 colours are on the the one plant?
I have heard that when you plant a butterfly bush to plant it above the ground about an inch and also to never use mulch because they don't like to hold in the water. Also should I add a good potting soil to the soil when I plant it? We have rocky well draining soil. Thank you for your help.
Thanks, Jim. I always enjoy your pieces.
Is the buzz series invasive? I need a specimen that doesn’t send out seedlings. I read butterfly bushes are infamous for this.
They are supposed to be sterile, but I don't trust it
I'm referring this video to a friend.
Love them but had one last year and didn't last from last year. Zone 5.
I zone 6b. Would they survive if I surround them with evergreens to keep them warm in the winter?
I have a question about how to eliminate a large clump of dead wood at the bottom of my dwarf butterfly. I only got a small amount of new growth this year after a late extreme freeze in May.
Wendy Taylor - I'm only an amateur gardener, but I have the same on mine, and I'm going to try cutting out the dead wood, it's not doing anything but get in the way.

can these be purchased almost anywhere?
Where to buy?
Just order 2 types of the buzz lineup
Planted this by accident in full sun (Middle TN) - It exploded in white blooms all summer. I will plant at least 6 more this year
Did you admend the soil when planting? I keep getting mixed directions.
@@danabenjamin3300 No but then I have compost / rich dirt from clippings and scraps (I'm a cook). I use a highgrade mulch every year and frequently add rich soil under the plant. I do not use expensive dirt, additives or "food". The soil is healthy with lots of worms and bugs. Good Luck
Of they do good this year will you
do a youtube on them?
@@kolaethegreat6752 I'll get my son to make a video but it's nothing special. I planted them, they grew large, I trimmed back in the spring and they going gang busters right now. In fact, I'm planting a couple more (I have about 1/4 acre under landscaping so I need more bushes.) It's not hard or complex as long as you don't plant in clay! Whatever you do don't buy that $12/bag stuff - make your own through cuttings and scraps.
@@smb123211 awesome I can't wait. Please tag me when you do
Great video!, Thanks very helpful, I bought 2 buzz magenta today, here in the u.k, can't wait until they flower and the butterflies, bees and hummingbird hawkmoths arrive, love the smaller size they grow to
Where did you get them? I can't seem to source them.
@@2338hunter I got them from a local garden centre here in n.devon, they are so much better than the normal buddliea, mine are only 60cm tall and have come out in lots of flowers, had a butterfly visit them yesterday, the magenta colour is amazing!
@@stevenvitali7404 thanks, I'm Somerset. I have them myself and cannot for the life of me remember where I got them. Now a friend would like them, hence the inquiry.
@@2338hunter I seen them online for sale at a few different places also
My new butterfly bushes are still blooming, with much smaller blooms. Would you recommend shearing back? This is their first season in the ground. They’ve more than doubled in height and width, so I think it’s happy. Thanks!
No. Let them get established first.
What about spreading? Does it reseed and will there be a lot of volunteer plants all over?
I have not a butterfly bush do that.
The older varieties definitely re-seed but the new cultivars are sterile - no seeding. Also, when we say re-seed, it's not near your plant. The seeds of the butterfly bush are "wind dispersed". So they get flown far away & then they become invasive in optimum conditions.
What the name of the most blue une?
I have a White Buddleia in my garden which was a cutting I took. It first appeared in my June/July 2018 videos on my channel. This plant has grown and finally settled into it's permanent place in the garden for my February 2021 update. It should flower nicely this year as the parent plant did in 2018. Happy Growing :)
I just bought the Magenta version of this....Would a 15-gallon container be good for it.....or should it be bigger? Also--what should I do to protect the container plant in winter? (I'm in zone 6)
15 gallon is probably fine for a couple of years. If there is a possibility the pot could stay frozen 24 hours, it would need a cotton cover or be put in a garage. Butterfly bushes crack at the base if the pots freeze for a while.
@@JimPutnam Thanks, I would take them in during the winter
Took mine out of the pot before watching this video and most of the mulch dirt dropped off leaving a raw clump of roots and a wabbly stem I'm worry about it guess we'll see what happens :(
my butterfly bush that i bought in july has not grown at all but it has had a lot of flowers. why isn't it growing taller?
Read the Title of the Video
I don't like mine getting taller than 4-5 ft. Tall. A neighbor has one 12 ft high and oddly shaped.
👌💕
I would like to try these. I guess they attract a lot of butterflies too?
Yes, lots of butterflies. Great varieties.
