On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

Imagine had the F-22 gone back to WWII instead of the Tomcat in The Final Countdown. Pilots then would have believed the Raptor to be a UFO.

@@jayglier They finally figured that one out. The pattern of rotation the bee's wings move in allow for a crazy amount of lift and maneuverability. It wasn't until slow-motion video and computer simulations that scientists could work it out. But science now understands how bumblebees can fly. lol

It probably is a UFO in DCS. Both the EF and the F-22 are mods and i highly doubt that the modders have access to documents describing the flight characteristics of either in detail.

Yeah and the F22 did it three times. Along the side of the fuselage from nose to tail. Then from the top of the fuselage nose to tail. Then from wingtip to wingtip. Incredible.

You should do squads vs squads. One of the reasons vector thrust was abandoned in jets going forward (F-35 etc) is because you lose all of your momentum in the process, which leaves you vulnerable to being enaged by anyone you're not chasing.
I'd like to see how a squad of F-22s would fare against a squad of F-35s, or Eurofighters etc.
I think how a pair of raptors fighting a squad of literally anything in red flag shows why this is pointless, now 2v1? That'd be interesting

@@mantisushi These 1v1s are more pointless as they are all decided by an ability that has no real utility in a real setting (squad on squad). (Part 1, trying to figure out what's causing the shadow).

And that's why I love the F22 :) I was so glad to hear that shotgun was piloting the F22, because I feel like their are a lot of people who fly the F22 but just aren't as familiar with it so it was nice to see an experience pilot dogfight another experience pilot. Great video!

The F-22 air combat maneuver and gun shot (in Round 2) is a thing of exquisite nicety; literally an epic “Bitch” slap of staggering awesomeness.

Thoughts:
Won't removing the missiles make it harder for the Typhoon given it has helmet-mounted sights?
Does differential thrust make a big difference in the Typhoon given the engines are so close together?
The differential thrust doesn’t do a thing, and it’s quite frankly getting a little silly by now. It may have it’s place in an F-14 in some very select situations, but that’s about it.
@@subwayak nah it definitely has an effect, you do realize just how much more power an afterburner does compared to a regular engine, right?
The F-22 also has engines that are close together

Shotgun in the Raptor is something else, man. Very rare for GS to go 0-4, even if he's flying an inferior aircraft. Great video and excellent flying from both GS and Shotgun!
A good scenario would be a ‘scramble’ - 50 miles, enemy has the height and speed advantage which puts you immediately on the back foot. Would be an exceptionally difficult scenario if you did this for your bandit unknown style of fights.
You could also do this as a two ship formation and intercept strike packages from destroying SAM sites or attacking a base if you fancy the set up.
"Hey, it's my buddy Shotgun in the F-22. He's put up some good fights in the past, let's hope we get that again today."

That first kill is one of THE best things I have ever seen.
The F-22 manouvering capabilities are mindblowing, it seems it does the best when shedding as much speed as possible and using primarily vector thrusting to keep the nose pointed to the opponent. However doesnt sitting in that low velocity state make it very vulnerable against other attacks or even a potential wingman of the opponent? Maybe it would be interesting to try a 2vs2 scenario
I still remember from somewhere... that the weakest component in the Raptor is the pilot. I think this shows that off to amazing degrees... especially when it starts doing that falling leaf move...
To be fair, both planes were pretty low energy the entire time, that's how supermaneuverable gun fights work
@@DefinitelyNotEmma Anything that can go toe to toe with a Raptor for that long deserves the supermaneuverability tag. Also the Eurofighter is clearly more maneuverable than the Su-35, and if that plane is supermaneuverable, than so is the Eurofighter xd
May I remind you that the F-22 does not bleed any energy and can turn at will.
@@mcflyingfury and the Su-35 lost to the Chinese J-10, so that makes it super maneuverable fighter more maneuverable than Su-35 and other European fighters like rafale, gripen, and Eurofighter.

You should do the US vs Russia thing again but with the rule that you can't choose the same jet twice so it's more interesting.
Do like 5 or 6 rounds so you can have different engagements.
Also make it bandit unknown so you have to choose your jet carefully.
