I owned N828AR , a 601B, from 1990-1991. It was pure joy and maintained by Aerostar World in Dothan Alabama. I'm glad to have once been part of this unique "family"!
What fixed and variable costs did you see for this plane? How was the insurance and maintenance? Beautiful plane. Cockpit layout and lever quadrant gives it an airliner cockpit vibe.
I Wonder when this video was made? Mid to Late 1980's? Wonder because in 1990 the airplane in this video N3637F landed short and the gear folded up and damaged the wing and tail.
I am not sure what you mean, but it is one of the best flying airplanes out there. The Aerostar is a true pilot’s airplane and a real pleasure to fly. For the money you would be hard pressed to find a more capable aircraft.
Geo, I am not really arguing the point from personal knowledge. However you start with the biggest drawback.....are there others ? A great airplane, but a lot of negative things of note . Some are very serious.

Plane sounds like a giant pain in the ass…. I’m sure it’s fast and all, but ugh…
Touchy airplane . Not sure it’s performance forgives these very possible special issues for me.

You people are making a big deal out of it.
If you can fly a pa-31?you can fly a PA-60. Biggest draw back is the rocker arm nose wheel steering.
