Thank you, Shelley. You've given me the courage I needed to try this. And thanks for mentioning the Turkish artist, Rukiye Garip. Her work is breathtaking.
You're a very gifted artist and teacher. Thank you so very much for all you share of your time and your experience! Truly .... thank you. I'm learning SO MUCH from you!
This was an excellent tutorial. No one else is able to explain wet/dry, and how to achieve the techniques the way you do. Thank you so much. I'm saving this for future reference
Thank you so much for this wonderful lesson! You are a fantastic teacher and give great rationale and reasoning behind what and how to do something. This helps so much in understanding the process and techniques you are showing. I’ve learned so much from watching your lessons. I look forward, with much anticipation, to watching your live weekly. Again, thank you. ❤️
When you sketched the subject, I began to see the complexity and had no idea of how it could be accomplished. Masking is hard, and when I do it, it often looks like stark blobs, and takes so much effort to soften edges. The squiggly masked lines helped to bring shimmering movement to the water. Straight stroked lines would have perhaps caused the masking to look more like fur. One thought I had was to scrape to get the reflections, but trying to get the shimmering effect with scraping would be hard. In the end, it all came together and it is a nice painting. I hope I can recreate it! Thank you!
I've been waiting for this for years, and you made my dreams come true! I will make my first try today. Excellent tutorial, hope my selfmade masking fluid will work. (Textile glue and water).
I think if you went In with a SLIGHTLY GRAY wash AROUND ALL OF THE ROCKS it would contrast with the brown cast shadows make it look even more realistic looking. You are so talented. I envy you.
@@joannsmith9 thank you. Glad you are looking closely ☺️ I do get more detail-oriented when I can afford the extra time. Not always possible during a live though. I have paid zoom workshops for that sort of finesse in my realistic paintings.
Thank you, for again, a great tutorial Shelley 😊 Please don’t feel to bad about the unexpected outcome regarding the effects caused by the masking fluid because that makes this tutorial extra useful, in the way that as students we can see what point our attention on AND also it’s kinda relief that also master pro’s bump into unexpected results. 😊
Question- Are you not worried about Aureolin PY40 (Cobalt Yellow) turning brown over time in your paintings? I enjoyed this so much, you’re an awesome artist and helped me so much with the way you paint foliage not to mention the reflection.

I looooove that you tackled this subject this week. Thank you!
Since taking up watercolours I wanted to find out just how to see through the water, so pleased to have found your video, Thank you.

I love your teaching and your art! I look forward to the new videos and so appreciate the collection of older ones you provide. Yay realism!
Excellent demo sharing a subject for which I would never have reached. I'm always impressed by how your painting improves on the ref photo. 👏 👏👏
Thank you so much.
You make it look so easy!
Thanks so much! This is really helpful as I want to paint a water scene. I admire how you break down to steps and make it easier for us to follow.

Thank you! Excellent explanations‼️
Missed the live session today but really enjoyed this demo. It was timely because I’m about to start something like this. Thank you for all you do!

Love this painting. I know a can't do it with my limited skills, but I would have liked to see a little more definition on the leaves.
I'll love to see a demo on branches and leafs reflected on water.I live by a river and will like to TRY to paint something like that
Very helpful 👍🏻
PLEASE…can you tell me where (in UK) I could buy a similar circular paint palate which you show on the vide0? Many thanks, Myra
No sé podría haber usado la técnica de pincel seco en ligar de líquido de enmascarar? Gracias por tu trabajo

@@grammiejones77 my DaVinci Aureolin is a mixture with very good lightfastness rating. Thanks for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
@@shelleypriorfineartThank you, I will order some.
Hi, what is that you're holding to remove the masking fluid... plastic eraser? Thanks.
@@windynotes I use a rubber cement pick up tool to remove masking.
