GDE On Point S02E02 - Freedom Day

Welcome to the Gauteng Department of Education’s brand-new online news series ‘GDE On Point’, where we keep you updated with on the latest news, events, campaigns and programmes within our schools and districts.
In this special episode, we celebrate Freedom Day. On 27 April 1994, South Africa its first democratic national elections in which people of all races and ethnicity were allowed to vote.
This ultimately ushered in a new democratic South Africa that free from the past of inequality, discrimination and segregation.
We spoke to a few of our colleagues about Freedom Day, what this day meant to them and how they will be celebrating it.
