How to cure backbiting: 1. Whoever believes in Allah swt and the Last day let him speak good, or remain silent. 2. The Prophet Muhammad pbuh guaranteed Jannah for the one who guards his tongue and private parts. 3. If you are sitting in a gathering where a person or people are being backbitten read this, "Whoever stops that which dishonours his brother, then Allah swt will shield his face against the fire on the Day of Judgement." 4. We used to remind one another, that whoever faults his brother on account of a sin that he had repented for it will be punished by Allah by falling into it himself. Hasan al Basri 5. Keep in company with righteous people. 6. Always remember that when we point a finger at someone, 3 fingers are pointing back at us. Look at yourself 3 times before you blame another person. 7. Whenever you backbite someone do something hard for yourself on their behalf such as fasting a day, giving charity on their behalf, 2 raka't of voluntary prayers for 1 week and asking Allah swt to forgive yourself and make dua for that person with an extra 2 raka't everyday for a week.
Some backbiters will add lies to truths in order to turn friends against friends. The sad part of this is if the friend who is lied to keeps it to them self next instead of questioning their friend to find out if it is true or not.....well he loses a friend because of a backbiting liar.
I avoid backbiting, however I am often surrounded by people who backbite and since the person who backbite is elder and I cannot walk away from that person, I am caught in a position to listen and nod. I cannot even say anything as the person will be highly offended. As I am aware Gheebat sunne ka gunaah is also gheebat karna, pls suggest what should be done.
In a polite manner just say to this individual I don't want to hear no gossip it's not going to benefit me no way just stop them in their tracks immediately but dealt in a polite manner and politely say enjoy the rest of your day and happily go on your way. In Sha Allah.
it's been 2 years since you commented so i don't know what your current situation is, but in situations like these you should, in a polite manner, tell the person to stop backbiting. what I'm saying is to disregard whether they'll be offended or not because they need to hear that what they're doing is wrong. try your best not to offend them but even if they do feel bad, you did what you had to do, you're not in the wrong here.

I used to back bite people when I was in my teens and not practicing and not knowing the consequences of backbiting, but I have done taubah and I never back bited anyone ever since, will Allah still forgive these sins? Even if I have not confessed to them or dua for them, because it was a lot of people and also can't remember most of them? Please answer.
