For spiral, wire gaps and high wire(basically wrong stacking) and wrong tension are the highest failure modes. For braided hose, wire loops, cross wires, broken wire and again wrong tension are highest failures. Good braiding or spiraling always depend on good wire winding.

Neither, you want a fibre braid steel woven hose. Aeroquip 1503 is a great air application hose for example or goodyear DR-5
