    Sooooo many things to keep adjusting - I am probably the only one, but I like the old school simpler sonars - I will find the fish if I can see structure clear enough. All this time learning and tweaking could be used for 'on the water' time.
    Good video however and much appreciated - it saved me a lot of money as I was considering sonar upgrades etc - I may just find what I have, with a bigger screen and be done. Thanks for all the time you put into this.

      no problem glad you enjoyed it. Mind you this video goes from beginner to super advance techniques. Most users will only need the first half at best. The active target is super user friendly and designed to be of all the brands. You don't have to keep adjusting to be honest. This video was done for beginners to super advance at the high performance level.
      My biggest thing is jump in someone's boat who has one and see if its something you will use. Cheers

Not familiar with the all American pole. The rytek in blue in a range as you can move the angle up and down in scout. Red is forward on the marker and green is for down. You want down and forward perfect on those lines. The pie that looks blue shows you the varying angles you can adjust it.

    Great video!! Thanks for putting this together. A quick questions...do you know of a way to quickly zoom the forward range in forward mode? So basically not have to go through the menu. If I hit the +/- buttons it affects both forward and down range. I often locate fish/structure with a longer range, and then when I get closer I want to quickly and simply pull in from 80 ft. to 10 or 15. I have a buddy that did it on his Livescope, and I've been jealous since. :) Thank you!

    I had a question about the transducer which I emailed Lowrance to get the answer hopefully shown to me by a video. They sent me your video! High praise indeed - well done. Just one more question please. When using Active target forward or scout modes do you need your boat to be relatively still or can you troll a lure and get the same quality picture? Many thanks.

    • @hookedntravel
      @hookedntravel 5 месяцев назад

      As far as wave action up and down on your boat, it’s ideal to be in calmer waters. But you don’t need your boat to be still. I downrigg with my active target for lake trout and salmon all the time.
      That is high praise! Thank you for letting me know that! That’s really cool.

    • @hookedntravel
      @hookedntravel Год назад

      Yes with all the forward facing sonar, the mounts they are on, their are usually notches to line up your transducer mark. One for forward, one for down. It’s pretty quick and easy to do. I have heard of a couple companies that have produced automated poles for the adjustment, but I would imagine that their not cheap.

    • @Pikefishing56

      @@hookedntravel but this is when the transducer is attached to the trolling motor I take it? Not when it is attached to a seperate pole?

    • @hookedntravel
      @hookedntravel Год назад

      @@Pikefishing56 on the trolling motor you will have to either reach down to change it or pull it up. On a pole, your going to have to bring it up to move it the set amount of notches, your going to want the transducer to line up with the edges of the forward cone on the screen. That’s if you have a solid firm mount. If your pole is tiltable, you can tilt it a bit to line it up with your screen.

      @hookedntravel Год назад

      Once your settings are set and adjusted for each. Down/forward/scout. The icon will appear next to it. It memorizes your settings as long as it’s adjusted from the default setting. So when you flip back and forth the settings will change to what you had it on last when you enter a new mode. Exactly like sonar settings when you switch from Shallow, general, deep, fast troll, slow troll etc

      There good. It all depends on the brand and how it sits on the poles/mounts. Like all mounts find a windless day. Anchor your boat to aim at something stationary and line it up properly. Cause none are 100% perfect. Find one that suits your needs. Its just learning where yours is pointing and how far out you need to see and where it points. Do corrections from there.
