I truly enjoy your fresh look at quilting. It is an inspiration for some of us long time quilters. I was taught to sew with my left foot on the petal, so I could use the hands-free system. Mine also was aligned to far to the right. I just asked my machine technician to adjust. Love the time you spend with Jules. Keep sharing your passion!
The quilt is adorable, Jules is adorable, and so are you. Your little guy is such a boy. He reminds me of my son when he was young, so in love with cars! But I think he really likes the penguins, too.
I am a newbie sewer, You Tube is my teacher. I learnt on a budget machine, then treated myself to A Janome 6700P. I wanted to use the knee lift so I lined my self up to it. That is when I realised I had to move my chair 2 feet closer to the machine. Guess what? My sewing improved instantly! I had no idea I was miles away. My shoulder tension resolved too.
Is this what you mean by don’t overthink things just quilt away 😂 I love the zigzag pattern you designed it looks like the penguins have walked all over the quilt
So very cute! The quilt is a success! Jules is getting so big and handsome! Soon you’ll have to make another bigger quilt for him. Next time maybe with cars? Haha 😄
I love your accent, and how you pronounce words in English is absolutely adorable! I'm Canadian and how you say penguin sounds like ping-wing to me, and it's the cutest thing! I also love how you pronounce your name and your son's name. Your quilts are awesome and I love your videos! I always hit the like button before I even start watching LOL!! Can't wait to see what your next project will be!
I think he likes it! Such a cute and fun quilt. Thanks for showing how you hand stitched the eyes with how you knot the thread. Great info. Awesome job on this little quilt. 💙🐧💙🤗
Adorable quilt and little mister! There is a special joy in making a quilt for a beloved child. Thank you for sharing such a sweet moment with us. May I suggest one thing? It did not look like you added a label to the back of the quilt. It's a nice touch to add your name and the year the quilt was created (and the title of the quilt if you name your work). Years from now those details will be helpful, since you make so many quilts. I have some quilts I made for my children over thirty years ago, and the labels are good reminders of the time period. Happy quilting!
Thank you so much for your comment Anna. There really it something very special in making a quilt for a loved one. Ah yes, you have a very good point! I completely forgot to make a label. My mom always puts labels on her quilts, and it's very nice to see when and why it was made and gifted to who. Thanks!
omigosh, the eyes are so cute! adorable project, so glad you completed a WIP! Also, thanks for sharing a little bit of your "little man" with us! He's grown so much!!
I have seen people put a bunch of batting/cloth/stuffing around the knee lifter so that you can reach and push it without having to do some weird yoga pose to reach it. ;)
I think you’re suppose to use your left foot on the pedal and right leg at the lift. Also, the dealer can adjust your knee lift to be further over and easier to use. Hope that helps ❤️💕
Yes I agree you can adjust it a bit with the screw in the top. I love using my Knee lift but I am tall and have long legs. But you should be able to adjust it so it is more on an angle to the left closer to your leg. :-)
Thanks Jennifer and Laurelle! It is already adjusted as far as it goes to the left. But still have trouble with it.. Maybe it's a good idea indeed to try using my left foot on the petal!
Have you ever tried using your left foot on the pedal? I had to start doing this when I hurt my right foot, and surprisingly, it was a very easy transition!
Your little mister is getting bigger. He seemed to like the penguins. Fun to see his reaction when he saw his papa. I liked how you quilted, nice spacing. Lovely job as all your things are. Enjoyed watching. Was it warm and naturalall cotton batting?
Aw thank you so much! It was so funny, papaa papaa aaand he was gone haha.. I think it was warm and white, is that also a brand? I don't know much about different battings, maybe I could do a comparison sometime :)
I believe its the same company, one is white (warm and white) the other warm and natural is natural cream color. Do you always use 100%. Cotton or 80 20 blend?
Yay! The penguin are so cute, and the letters go very nicely. Warm Co. Is my favorite...though, I do stop frequently and clean the lint from under the plate with a cotton swab, because it builds up fast! I don't know if that's normal to other brands. Lilly
Why don't you set your machine up for free motion quilting, you will not need your knee lift....? The foot needed for that is a darning/quilting foot, I'm sure one comes with your machine? The set your feed dogs to the down position, and you don't need any stitch length, set at 0, as when you move your fabric that is the stitch size you will have. I would test it out on some scrap fabric before you stitch on your quilt if you haven't done this before, have a blast of fun!
Hi! Ah yes, I was thinking about that, but not ready for it yet I guess. Haha I'm still a bit scared of free motion quilting. But, at the moment I'm finishing a quilt top which I do want to free motion quilt. Soo in a few videos you will see me trying free motion :)
Goodness little mister has grown so much since the last time I saw him. So cute! Glad he's excited about his new quilt!
Thank you so much! :D the quilt was so much fun to make, really liked his reaction to it. He kept pointing out all the penguins 💕

Aw thank you so so much Susan! Oh that sounds clever to use the petal with your left food. Maybe I should give that a try next time!
What a sweet boy. Maybe you could read a book with a penguin in the story 😂 Thanks for sharing.
He has grown, he is adorable.
I will be a grandma now, in five months. So taking some ideas from you. For my grandson.
Congratulations! That is wonderful 💕
Most beautiful cat I have ever seen!
What an adorable little quilt for an adorable little boy!!!!!
The quilt is adorable, Jules is adorable, and so are you. Your little guy is such a boy. He reminds me of my son when he was young, so in love with cars! But I think he really likes the penguins, too.

Every person I know that quilts uses the Warm Co. Batting. It's the very best!
Ah really! Haha I'm not really familiar with different types of batting, but I really liked this one 😂
Beautiful! ❤️
The quilt turned out so cute and the zig zag quilting is perfect. I cant believe how big Jules has gotten!!
I know right! It's going so fast, he is such a happy happy boy 💕

Jaa he! Gaat zo snel, hij rent al door het huis haha. Dank je wel voor je lieve berichtje! 💕
I have short stance too. Put knee lifter in a pool noodle, slide it into noodle on bottom part of knee lift about 18 inches. Works great.
I think he likes it! Such a cute and fun quilt. Thanks for showing how you hand stitched the eyes with how you knot the thread. Great info. Awesome job on this little quilt. 💙🐧💙🤗
Thanks Pam! It was so much fun to make. And those final stitches always bring the quilt to life 💕
Your "little mister", Jules, is absolutely adorable! He loves his penguin quilt and so do I. Thank you for sharing. 😊🌹

What a great video. I like the quilting process. And thank you for showing the embroidery.
Thanks!! I often procrastinate on the embroidery, but once I start it's actually really fun to do. It brings so much personality in to the quilt
I love this quilt, I may have to make one with penguins and pears and sewing machines and cotton reels LOL that would be awesome!
Sweet
Jules is adorable!!
My kids do the same thing when daddy gets home lol! “Daddy!!!!!”
😂
Hahaha good to know it's not me 😂 So funny, it's daddy daddy daddy all day long..

Thank you so much Melnie 💕 He is growing so fast indeed! Getting cuter everyday haha
Thanks for sharing your happy quilt project. All your videos are fun and inspiring!
Maybe you should get a Bernina. It’s not a problem with the foot lifter. Gorgeous quilt for the little man💕
Yes, Bernina would a great machine for that! Thank you 💕

That is the only batting I use!❤️
Such a cute and happy little quilt!! It will be a favorite I'm sure.

Thanks! Ah so nice to hear that it's your favorite batting. I think I will try it again on a next project :)
really lovely quilt and what a sweet little men you have
I think the owls would be cute if you put the letters of the alphabet in the belly of the owls so it could bus to help little ones learn the alphabet

You might want to embroider before making your quilt sandwich.

Yes! That sounds like an awesome quilt!
