    Helpful basic piano jazz to think in these three or four categories. Thank you for mentioning in any of these videos when we can find more detail in your books. Please even state the exact book/chapter or pages. Audio for this lesson seems fine on my iPhone 13

    Wow, I have so much to learn. I kind of understand about 20% of what you say, but am far off being able to apply at this point. Working through book 1 of your fundamentals book. Keep up the great work and thanks.

    Thank you for your video Jeremy.
    I have been reading your books and listening to your Tonebase Jazz Piano (plus RUclips videos) focusing on understanding and learning swing in jazz. I also listened to quite a few Keith Jarrett’s recent albums such as Bordeaux Concert, Budapest Concert, Munich 2016 and older Sun Bear Concerts. Could you please help me understand if Keith Jarrett plays with swing? Does Keith Jarrett plays classical jazz?
    I am often wondering why there are so few references to his playing in any jazz lessons (it is usually about other jazz players, mostly from the beginning of 20th century).
    Thank you

      Wow, lots of questions here. Frankly, Keith’s music is incredibly diverse, touching every part of the piano tradition - classical, jazz, rock, pop…you almost have to study the entire piano tradition from Bach on down would be necessary to play like Keith.

    What about a PayPal donation link as an additional way to receive appreciation from viewers...or a P.O. Box to mail checks to?

    Thank you Jeremy, amazing lessons ¡¡¡ I have a question i can´t answer :( I try to make II-V-I starting in Cm7 and keeping A or B shape on my left with 3 notes. What can i play in my right hand to sound good starting with top 3th or 7th ? Should be great if you can help, i´m triyin to find how to armonize any top note but struggle with this two. Thanks ¡¡

      I have on my left A position (Eb, Bb, D) So for top 3th I´ve try G,Bb,Eb but the 9ªm with the D on my left....
      And for top 7th y put B position on my left (Bb, Eb, G) and on my right D,Eb,Bb but only works for piano solo i think....

    where do cluster voicings and mu voicings fit in ? I guess upper structure triads are A/B voicings...

    • @JeremySiskind
      @JeremySiskind  Год назад

      Not sure what mu means? I think of cluster voicings as a type of modal voicing. You are choosing the intervals of mostly seconds and then playing them somewhere in the mode.

    • @JeremySiskind
      @JeremySiskind  Год назад

      And - yes - I agree that upper structures are generally placed on top of Type A/B voicings.

      @@JeremySiskind A mu chord is maybe a triad with an added 2nd popularized by steely dan..but I guess there is debate about what it really is or whether it even exists ..thanks for your excellent videos!

    Audio quality is poor on this video. Your voice is really echoey and the piano is distorted. Good content though.
