A very disappointing album
I thought so too when it first came out but it eventually grew on me and now I absolutely love it.

I ‘ discovered’ Cohen at 12.. and sat with a dictionary to understand the lyrics
I’m almost 56 now.. I still love Cohen but mostly the earlier n latest poems
@@RamSadeh, he's been in my life since I was 17, and I'm 67 now but still listen to him a lot. I was lucky enough to see him a few times. Concerts I'll never forget of course.
Nothing is disappointing with Master Léonard.
There are places he went that are hard to understand and uninviting to follow. He nurtured a masochistic side - something I clearly realised on the first concert I went to - maybe the hindside of his pronounced humility - . I think this sometimes led him into detrimental company, as happened with the "Death of a Ladie's Man" album. Maybe something in that direction occured with this album? I like some of the songs and this is one of them but the over-all production is not always convincing.
