Beautiful wood carvings on the Kizaki Shrine - & I wasn't expecting to see what looked like Christmas trees in front of some of the houses in Ogi-cho!
I've never experienced an earthquake, we rarely have them in England & if we do, they are tiny ones.

The sculptures at Kizaki Shrine were magnificent.
The Christmas tree-like decorations at the entrances of the houses in town are Japanese New Year decorations called "shimenawa." They are meant to house the gods only during the New Year holidays.
Japan experiences earthquakes all year round, but this one was a record-breaking disaster, and the Noto Peninsula, where it originated, has still not recovered.😢

      宿泊施設ですが、年末年始の一人泊だったので朝食のみでした。でも佐渡のお米は美味しかったです。いっぱいお代わりました。
      あとささやかな、おせち料理も正月を感じさせてくれました。😃
