Not going to lie, this song makes me cry every time because all I ever think about is the funeral of one of the best men I served in the army with as they played this song at his funeral as I was standing with his young boys after he passed away to cancer. I love Brantley and this song means a ton to me.
True. I have lost many people I loved to different types of cancer but it hits harder now since I lost my mom last month to lung cancer she didn't know she had. It still hurts so bad 😭 She passed away on my and my boyfriend’s friend’s birthday and 3 days before my son’s birthday.
@@PirateLotusBoutique I’m so sorry to here that. I can totally relate My dad has stage 3 lung cancer and was admitted last night and had a blood transfusion. I’m gonna be going to see him in a few hours. Thanks for sharing. ❤️🙏
@@Ken_Smith I hope your dad will be okay. I live over 2,000 miles from my family so I almost didn't get to see my mom before she passed away. My bf’s mom bought us round trip tickets on a Friday and we left early that next morning. My ex took our son to stay with him so I could go. I got to send one last Mother’s Day with her. We came back on Tuesday and she passed away four days later. I’m still not used to not talking to her every other day or every day on the phone or video calls with her. My birthday is in August and I am conflicted because it's my first birthday not under control of my ex which is great but it's my first birthday I won't get a call at midnight from my mom because she always wanted to be the first to wish me happy birthday.
It guts me when the father salutes his sons casket. Our 15 year old is a huge military history buff (and considering enlisting) and is going to DC on a school trip and he asked his advisor if they could just leave him at all the war memorials and Arlington as that's why he's going on the trip. of course they can't leave him on his own, but that's how much the history of our military means to him
Holy shit deep dive into old Brantley Gilberts catalogue, he was truly incredible. He has sort of gotten too bro country for me now but damn so many memories of his old stuff.
Amazing song!!! Do more stand alone Brantley reactions. He is awesome. "Just As I Am" talks about his alcohol addiction and is one of his best songs in my opinion
Loved the reaction, thank you too (from a Marine Vet). BG is a close friend and I appreciate you reviewing his music, hopefully you check out more of his work! I would recommend “take it outside”, “kick it in the sticks”, or “read me my rights”.
On March 11, of this year, I lost my 38 year old son to cancer, when he found out he had cancer, he didn’t start dying but he started living, he didn’t count his days but rather made his days count. His first child is graduating high school, we’re all sad but yet happy for her. He fought so hard for two years but he was so tired and in so much pain 💔🥺
I used to go to a smaller venue/bar for concerts. Brantley came back in 2009 before he was big on the radio. The place was absolutely packed. Standing room only in the entire place. Most shows there are still tables out and the pool table area is open just like a normal night. Not for Brantley. The ENTIRE place was standing only felt like a mosh pit. No way they were not violating fire code that night.
Brantley Gilbert is one of those artists that you forget about how many fantastic songs he has...one of my favorites. Check out those who like me...love the lyrics to that song
The first time I heard this song, I was driving alone down a backroad, and actually had to pull in some random person's driveway because I couldn't see through the tears.
For being in the military and have so many family members that served and are serving as well as family members who died due to cancer. This song gives me chills each time because we are a family that isn't scared of death and focus on living the life we do have because we believe and will meet our Lord going forward and not waiting on our heels.
My Grandpa was a Korean War Veteran i always love listening to his war stories , he died on November 20th 2016 we had his funeral on Thanksgiving Eve, i was one of the pallbearer, the second verse i can relate to because my uncle unfortunately died from cancer in 2002, he had his own DJ company , and he loved playing music for the handicap people & just talking to to them .
This song gets to me every time. My dad a Police Officer of 38 years died March 3rd 2020 from cancer and he fought like hell for 2 years and he died a day after my birthday on March 2nd. 38 years as a Police Officer who’s been in a shootout and been close to death so many times yet it’s cancer that takes him from us. The second reason is having my cousin a US Army Ranger who made the ultimate sacrifice while on his 4th deployment to Afghanistan years ago and he gave his life to save his brothers and give them enough time to get to their wounded brothers and died doing what he LOVED doing. He always said if he was going to die he wants to go out fighting like hell and he did. His son was born 2-3 days prior to him making the ultimate sacrifice. Damn I tear up every time!
I haven't listened to this song since probably sometime last year. My mom passed away last month of lung cancer she doesn't know she had and now I am in tears 😭💔 I miss her so much! I live over 2,000 miles away from my family so it's super hard at times. This song hits so much harder now 😭 We also lost one of my mom’s skaters last month about a week and half before my mom. She has dementia and doesn't remember any of us, it was hard not getting to talk with my aunt for the last way too many years.
Brother this song really hits home for alot of people, I grew up in a military family literally everybody served and a few years back I lost my dad to cancer and this song hits in the heart but sometimes I need to listen to it
I come from a long line of military and have lost family members that have served. I get chills from hearing this song every single time without fail. I am glad you chose this song
This song hits home for me because at 26 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and 2 years later I’m Proud to say I won that good fight and this song definitely helped me get through those hard times
Yeah he knows both the people he told the stories about. I always feel country always hits the feels cause alot are written and sung from personal expirience.
One thing some people don't know is the military guy was actually a close friend of Brantley and the pictures were actually donated by the family for the video along with the person who died of cancer was a close friend of a close friend of Brantley pictures also provided by the family so that's actually both the guys that died
This song is about his two best friends Cory and John one who passed in war and one from cancer which I also knew me and BG lived down the road from each other great guy
The second verse always gets me cause it basically shows my grandpa, he wasn’t scared of nothin the day after he had his 4 heart bypass he was already trying to get back on his tractor he beat lung cancer twice and throat cancer once but the third time his lung cancer came back it came back strong but he lived like he was healthy as an ox but sadly on august 22 at 3 am I got the call I dreaded and no this song always gets me
I just watched your one Hell of an amen reaction at one point you recite part of the lyrics.”this is our last goodbye “. Actually what the song said is IF this is our last goodbye.
So this song Brantley made is actually about two of his buddies that passed. One from active duty and the other from cancer. There’s a video about his discussing the situations. That’s why I love his music it’s real and he writes about what he wants too instead of mainstream telling him what to write about
Please do a video for Brantley Gilbert’s song “Gone but Not Forgotten”!! He wrote it to honor our military (similar to this song) and released it after the 13 US service members lost their lives in the attack in Afghanistan. It’s a tear jerker for sure but it’s such an amazing song. ❤
He’s got such a great voice for this song. He can really deliver it. Great thing about this song is it doesn’t focus on one kind of person or group. Our town has a breast cancer walk and I love to play this song as the people are walking. Not sure if you checked it out yet but the song “Fight Like a Girl” by Anita Cochran is great. It’s a song she wrote about her battle with cancer. Best thing is she doesn’t mention cancer at all cause she wants it to be used for anyone fighting anything. The other song to check out is “Pink” by Dolly Parton with Monica, Jordin Sparks and a few others. Both songs definitely worth checking out.
My mother in law hasn’t been gone long enough for the cancer part of this song to keep the tears away. Stage four is a death sentence… The goal was to beat the odds. We fought together to stretch 6 months into 2 1/2 years
A lot of people don't know this but this song was written by him bc he's lost buddies due to all of these. This song is written from his heart in honor of them

Same here. My brother in law is currently fighting stage IV esophageal cancer. Freaking sucks
They played it at my uncles memorial
My daughter will be going to the army next year…proud but terrified.
Sending luck towards her and your family.
In an interview Brantley Gilbert said he’d never sing a song he didn’t write and he’d never write a song he didn’t live.
To all those who are serving or have served. Amen to you. And God Bless.
Everyone can relate to this song in one way or another. Deep cuts. Glad you did this one.

This song. O boy. My Marine son and my oldest with a rare disease. They made it home to Jesus . I’m telling y’all this really hit home. ❤🇺🇸
Sorry for your loss
Holy shit deep dive into old Brantley Gilberts catalogue, he was truly incredible. He has sort of gotten too bro country for me now but damn so many memories of his old stuff.
Lost my uncle last month to cancer. Was sudden and he didnt suffer...but I miss him so much.
Amen from Germany
Amazing song!!! Do more stand alone Brantley reactions. He is awesome. "Just As I Am" talks about his alcohol addiction and is one of his best songs in my opinion
Amazing song! Love how intense and real his emotions are in this one.
BG knows how to hit the feelers for sure…that or gettin is in fightin mode. This man is special!!
Loved the reaction, thank you too (from a Marine Vet). BG is a close friend and I appreciate you reviewing his music, hopefully you check out more of his work!

Love this song, Brantley is the man!!
I'd give a lot to be able to hear this song again for the first time. It shook me.
Brantley Gilbert is one of those artists that you forget about how many fantastic songs he has...one of my favorites. Check out those who like me...love the lyrics to that song
Anything from Prodigal Son album.
They don’t come more real than BG man. Great reaction. ♥️
when his guitarist gets up on the pew, I get chills
The first time I heard this song, I was driving alone down a backroad, and actually had to pull in some random person's driveway because I couldn't see through the tears.
I lost my mom to lung cancer, i then found out that i had cancer, but i was able to fight and win my battle against cancer
Love Brantley! The weekend is my favorite
Love love love Brantley Gilbert! Thank you for reacting to him!

He's got an acoustic version and tells the story behind the song in it.
Just want to say to your sisters "Thank you for your service." and for you and the rest of their loved ones. "Thank you for your sacrifice."
His album A Modern Day Prodigal Son is amazing
Cancer survivor here!! Always fight the good fight and never give up
"So Help Me God" and "Just As I Am" also very gut wrenching relatable songs
BGNation ❤❤❤❤

My dad served. He passed January 2022 of cancer. To think he went out that way sucks.
Love this song. But you will also like Bury Me Upside Down
I believe this song is about his 2 best friends, one who died serving and one who died from cancer.

I highly recommend if you can see BG live, DO IT! And this song is amazing live.
Pls do more Brantley, lots of great music
You’re one of my favorite people to watch. I do wish you did more country reactions.

He wrote it to honor our military (similar to this song) and released it after the 13 US service members lost their lives in the attack in Afghanistan. It’s a tear jerker for sure but it’s such an amazing song. ❤
Very moving, many prayers❤
The shots of them riding were taken when they did a ride from Athens to Arlington for awareness about the 22 veteran suicide per day.

His songs country must be country wide and kick it in the sticks are good.
