Examples could be multi-jumping, artilleries, command grabs, counters, or reflectors. There are many more examples. But it usually reduces the workload of the modders when the original character already have the traits.

roy has more damage at the hilt of the sword (towards the hand) while marth has more damage at the tip of the blade. and because its harder to get that close, thats why marth is supposedly able to outclass roy. because marth has more ability to stay further from his target while dealing the most damage he can. im not a competitive melee player, i just read the in depth about the game.
Mathew's right, and a few of Roy's moves differ in that they're multi-hit as opposed to single hit like Marth's versions of those moves. USmash and USpecial, memory serving. Also, come on. Sword of Seals (Roy's weapon) or Falchion (Marth's weapon)? Sword of Seals any day.
