Perhaps the most significant factor is the resounding negative feedback from PC gamers. The PSN requirement, while intended to unify the PlayStation ecosystem, was perceived as an unnecessary hurdle for PC players. Gamers often have a curated list of accounts and platforms; requiring them to create and link a PSN account, particularly for single-player games, felt intrusive and inconvenient. For some, it was a deal-breaker, leading to refund requests and a hesitancy to purchase future PlayStation releases on PC. Sony couldn't ignore this unified chorus of discontent.
The problem is they had the game without the requirement. Many games like Diablo IV for instance require a third party account linked to Steam to play. Yet those people in those same countries find a way to olay that.
making it optional is the best course of action, i just wish PS had made this decision earlier or from the beginning, maybe not requiring for GOW Ragnarök would have increased sales or the score.
Sony captured lightning in a bottle with HD2. They then preceded to drop that bottle and we all watched with clenched teeth as the bottle clanked and cracked on the ground but thankfully didn't break. Lucky bastards.
This is great news to be honest. Region locking games due to something like this is just beyond any kind of logical reasoning. Im really glad other people will now get to play the games they were denied. Good time to be a gamer.
Does this mean that when steam comes as a native app to xbox ( being worked on currently) we will get all the lovely playstation games on xbox prime and series x?
This is what they should have done from the beginning. Make PSN optional on PC. At least they’ve done it now better late than never and this is still a win for everyone!
Dude I feel like you are off on this one. Steam does everything you listed for PlayStation they give them all the info they ask for including real time tracking of player input into the games PlayStation allows steam to post. They made a mistake by trying to make everyone use psn account to play their games. It was a money grab and people saw it for what it was that is why so many people got pissed off. They have a majority of the player base because of how well their console sold and a good line up of releases but if they do not expand and allow everyone to play those games they will soon have to deal with a diminishing player base. At the first sign of trouble I can see the majority of the players committing a mass exodus and looking for cheaper alternatives.
Not to mention Sony gets hacked every few years and this compromises people’s data. Not saying any company is an angel with data but why give it up to Sony when it’s unnecessary and proven to be not totally secure?
Good glad y'all got a W... But CAN WE PLEASE GET A 60 FPS BLOODBORNE PATCH, or anything relating to Bloodborne? Patch, remake, remaster, anything! PLEASE Sony! We are going crazy here!
At first I thought they did this for security purposes but it hurt the bottom line but you were right Lono and that’s why I stay tuned in to this channel anyhow I hope Sony has learned there lesson good video my guy!
@@ReforgeGaming To me, it seems like rather than learning from why XB1 failed, they put themselves in a position where they have no other choice but to be a publisher. And now their console market share will never be recovered. At best we'll have 1 more Xbox console gen. That would be it.
Hopefully we get Uncharted 1-3 and the old God of War games on pc as well. I would have asked for Bloodborne as well but we already have it and sony can keep it
sony capitulating to the mob is a mistake have no one learn anything from cancel era. PC expansion is another mistake in the long list of mistakes sony has made this gen.
Mister "PC is NOT a threat" is in charge now, We all know what that means ;) BTW Sony where is my opinion to Opt out of paying for online??? On PC well say no more Sony
I wonder why there are many territories without PSN access; is it due politics? or perhaps cost? Politics? Security concerns(thinks back to psn hack of the ps3 era) Or is simply something to do with technical issues such as infrastructure? What say you lono. Also if any of these reasons are the cause, i mean isnt there something Sony can do to address this. Ideally if you're Sony or any big company like that, you would want to provide your services to more regions.
@ReforgeGaming how is it not tho? How many times have these big corporations lied, misled, forced things upon their consumers and they just take it. PC gamers said this is not going to fly with us, voiced their opinions, made a stand and forced a change. The difference is they can't do to us what they do to yall. It's also why gamepass is cheaper on pc because they can't charge us for online play. We wouldn't stand for it. PC is a different animal because we are independent we aren't owned by a big corporation that can force us to do what they want us to do.
You won’t find finer coverage of these topics on the internet. This man is thorough and unbiased. I shudder to think where my life would be today if it weren’t for his coverage of video games. This is a win-win, for sure.

yup! they already removed it from spider man 2... so this was 100% related as i speculated in my video
Sony captured lightning in a bottle with HD2. They then preceded to drop that bottle and we all watched with clenched teeth as the bottle clanked and cracked on the ground but thankfully didn't break. Lucky bastards.

I swear folks this was the weirdest hill to die on lol where tf was energy back in 2008 with that damn Horse Armor
i get it, but they hate it, it is what it is
Glad they pivoted to it being optional
spider man 2 page updated! it is now NOT required
Mavel's Spider man 2 released and guess what? It's still region locked for me and others despite making PSN login optional.
i hope they fix this for you
@@ReforgeGaming They better.
Voices like yours go far and may just reach the seemingly deaf corporate ears. Thanks for talking, nonetheless.

They could do it again in the future
highly doubt
Does this mean that when steam comes as a native app to xbox ( being worked on currently) we will get all the lovely playstation games on xbox prime and series x?

of course

i have it on good authority from inside SIE that creating a PSN gives them better data
@@ReforgeGamingI can see that but data compared to $10 per player idk man, PlayStation wants profit before data
Not to mention Sony gets hacked every few years and this compromises people’s data. Not saying any company is an angel with data but why give it up to Sony when it’s unnecessary and proven to be not totally secure?
Playstation gamers need to start throwing tantrums like the PC Karens did about being forced to use a Microsoft account.
lol
I hear that now that PlayStation has removed the PSN requirement, Naughty Dog is finally going to drop the GTA trailer 2.
lol they actually removed the psn requirement on spider man 2
Good glad y'all got a W... But CAN WE PLEASE GET A 60 FPS BLOODBORNE PATCH, or anything relating to Bloodborne? Patch, remake, remaster, anything! PLEASE Sony! We are going crazy here!
hahah please!
Ya know i feel like if Sony would just ask us if we wanted to linked the PSN this would fix/solve alot of problems.
At first I thought they did this for security purposes but it hurt the bottom line but you were right Lono and that’s why I stay tuned in to this channel anyhow I hope Sony has learned there lesson good video my guy!
thank you!
Sonys recent first party games aren’t even worth the bandwidth imo
disagree and so do the sales and game awards
That's one of the better things about PlayStation. They fuk around, they found out, but they did learn. Can't say the same abt Xbox.
i think you can tho, xbox learned they need to publish

yup and they just removed the PSN requirement on spider man 2 today
@@ReforgeGaming breaking news?
It is best for business is to not put their games on PC. They all flop
That opening tho!
This was the correct path forward. They need to sort the region locks like yesterday, it's a disgrace
yup agreed
yessir
I am a strictly PS5 user and I don’t see why PC players need a PSN account for a single player game.
agreed
As a vicarious Pony, I vote that Sony should bend the knee to the lords of personal computing.
lol
thank you!

they answer to money and profit, and the mob happens to hold that

FF7 Rebirth had no PSN we see wht PC guys did it's on Sony as long as they keep delivering good games but I don't see it ending well
FF7 Rebirth isnt a first party game tho... but spider man 2 already had the requirement removed

eh, not really comparable imo
