As someone who wore boots for 20 years the other thing I learned is to have two pairs of boots and switch them every day. The leather uppers lasted much longer that way.
Redbacks are the best boots I’ve ever owned. After 20+ years as firefighter I’ve spent over 15 of them in these boots. I’ve tried others. Easy to get in and out of. Very comfortable for long shifts. I’m on my 4th pair
We have a textured floor at a brand store I can't name...even Redbacks no more than 18mos without holes through them, 12-14mos smooth. Our shop is being refreshed this summer though thankfully. My number one tip is don't immediately throw away your old pair when you get a new pair. Keep the old ones with you and put them back on at lunch, so only wear the new ones half a day, for about a week. Easier, less painful break in. Main tip is for any of you that have never have a legitimate back issue, I don't mean a pulled muscle that goes away in a few days, I mean a chronic condition where you still have to work but you live in pain. The money 90% isn't worth going cheap. Your medical bills over time will kill that $200 cost of comfort. There's a fine balance when you have real hip and back issues vs money/longevity, but that's a personal calculation for yourselves to make.
Word of caution - the insole of these boots has a weird step at the heel. Those of us with flat feet will probably not like them. Even with good inserts they hurt my feet bottoms. Gave them to a coworker who loves them. Check them out before ordering to see if they're right for your feet.
Very true....Until you scratch the heck out of “that car/truck”. The did give us one back in the day with our uniforms. Don’t know what happened to mine
Nick's builder pro. Two months in and finally feeling better and better every day. Expensive but I don't regret spending the money because my back and feet feel better at the end of the day.
Thank you David! I had never heard of this brand and the price isn't any more or less than Redwing, which I've had many pair. I will have to check these out!
Red backs have been hard to get lately in west Tennessee. Can still get them but will take a couple weeks. Now that’s getting them off the tool truck. Wouldn’t dare wear anything else in our line of work. Oil, Gas, Coolant and anything else you can think of doesn’t stand a chance against these. God bless
For years all I’d buy is Carolina boots, and I’d get almost 2 years out of them, all leather with laces, only negative thing I can say about them is they were a bit on the heavy side
I use a pair of Jeep Mod. 3560 in my school workshop, I paid 1600 MXN which is like 80 dollars, they are so comfortable when I use them in the workshop practices.
Justin work boots. Last along time on concrete floors and comfortable too. About 140.00 and last at least 3 to 5 years. I have apair that I wear when going out to town that is 15 years old. Great channel and thanks for your expertise and help. Have a Blessed Day Friend. Justin
My shop boots are Timberline Pro. About the same pricewise but they seem to work for me. My other work boots were far more expensive Pro Warrington 5006 bunkers, but for that job, Crocs are not accepted replacements...
Seems a lot has to do with the type of work as well. I know some guys that buy boots that are water proof for landscape work. There’s a boot for every pair of feet!
@@MotorCityMechanic Yeah, the second pair I listed go with my fire fighting gear. They are very specialized interior firefighting boots. Last pair were almost $700.00
Was wondering if those are lightweight, because I bought a pair of Ariat composite toe boots that look very similar to those, and they are pretty heavy. I'm 70 now and I don't do a lot of hard work, but I needed some good boots when I cut trees, so they fit the bill. But I would like a lighter pair for working on things that won't be crushing my toes.
Great info, thanks! David, where do you get your gloves? I like Venom from Lowes but they have been out of stock for a year. I got Global gloves from Harbor Freight but they seemed to rip before I would touch anything 😂.
Typically at the local auto parts stores. I only use them for filming....otherwise no gloves all day long. I think I still had these left over from a year ago
Does anybody know of an equivalent quality American brand? Nothing against Aussie stuff but for me, I need to put footwear on first before purchasing and the thought of mail order exchanges isn't appealing. Thank you!
I used the industrial dr martens. I could get around 5 years out of a pair. I always wore out the steel toe. Plus they never slipped with trans oil, coolant or grease.
Yeah seems the steel toe always wears thru first on the ones I have seen. Same here on the no slipping. I actually broke my wrist because of a cheap pair when I hit a wet spot in the shop once. Never again
I use to like Red Wings but their life time repair policy is now a joke plus they are even more expensive than the ones you got and I'm not even sure they are made in the U.S.A. any more
Good video ! I’ve never heard of this brand. I’m in California. I’ve been in the hvac trade for 40 years. Never really thought about shoes. I’ve just Allways worn the timberlands for Climbing up the sides of buildings all day long and servicing hvac on commercial roof tops. They allways served me well. I Have a Pair of Timberlands that are probably 30-40 years old & I had a Shoe guy / Cobbler Rebuild them probably 20 years ago and add Vibram soles to them. Great Work boots. I have not worn them much in the last 20 years as I moved into working in Kitchens & needed a Pair of Non-Slip work boots Which the Timberlands are Definately not. They are Like ice skates in a Kitchen. So , I have used “ Shoes for crews “ for non slip kitchen work boots. They are non slip , but a Piece of shit as far as a Quality work boot in my opinion of owning probably at least 6 pairs over the last years. They only last about 6 months if your lucky. I Wish I could find a Better pair of Non-Slip Work boots that are Very comfortable & are Quality made. Are These Work boots Non-Slip ? I’ll go check out thier page. Shoes are Very important ! They can either make Your Feet sore / tired very early into the day or Give Support and Make Your Life a Whole lot better. invest in A Good Quality Boot ! It’s one of the Best things u can do for Your Work day to make it Better ! Hvac trade for the last 40 years.

Explain
@@chryslertechnician3439 let’s the leather dry/rest when you switch them out so they’re less prone to cracking
12 yrs dealer tech, started wearing these exact Redbacks about 6 yrs ago, ...best workboots ever.
Will always be my go to now and in the future as well.
my friend also a mechanic swears by those boots. Even bought some for his kids for outdoor activities
Not sure I would pay that much for my kids when it comes to shoes.....lol, just kidding.

Appreciate the input and feedback
I have a pair of Redbacks and yes they are very comfortable. Well worth the price.
Averages out to about $35.00 a year for me when I do the math
@@MotorCityMechanic You can’t beat that deal.
A mechanics belt is often overlooked

That’s when you know they must be good....when they first hurt!
Yes I stand by these boots💯on my 3rd year with my current pair😉
I've had this boot, great all around. I was not happy with their replacement insoles, Georgia Boot insoles are the best I've acquired so far.
Thank you David! I had never heard of this brand and the price isn't any more or less than Redwing, which I've had many pair. I will have to check these out!
Seems to be more of a mechanic style boot being that everyone that I know that have them are mechanics
@@MotorCityMechanic.
I. Ok.
These are used in the fire department as well. By far the best we use to!

I miss my Iron Age boots from twenty years ago. When I get new boots I rotate between pairs, Redwing take the longest to break in but are real good.
Definitely best boots.
I've always bought wolverines with a timberland insole you can't beat the comfort and reliability for years
For years all I’d buy is Carolina boots, and I’d get almost 2 years out of them, all leather with laces, only negative thing I can say about them is they were a bit on the heavy side
Timberland Pro work summit. Best boots I've ever worn,
Used Ariat last 20 years, last 1or 2 years, about $160. Think I'll give these a try. Good review and yes, they should supply your footwear
160 bucks is very reasonable for safety boots.
Its mind-boggling when you see other mechanics and they are wearing sneakers or sometimes sandals.

I've been wearing my Redback Boots since 2017. I'm going to buy the steel toe boots next

I just ordered a pair to try out, looking forward to no laces!
Id like to see what mechanics would like about Nicks Chelseas, and what holds up more. The all leather construction or these cemented boots...

Redwing Boots. Made in Merica!! Here in the Augusta, Ga. area you can get em on Bobby Jones in the same shopping plaza as Tractor Supply.
I remember back when that was the “HQ” building supply store. I’m starting to sound like that old guy now lol
I have worn Red Wings for well over 30 years, but they are not all made in USA. You can sort them on their site.
Great boots
They sure are
Timberland pro 26036, $120.00 on sale.
Not a bad price,I spend over 200 on my therogoods and only last 6 months

How are the new pair doing after a year? What size did you get?
My boots lasted 6 years but thay were just a bit big a good purchase
Thoughts on Doc Martens ?
ordered a pair..
Keen Philadelphia are the best. Last really long time, no break in period, the way its supposed to be
Appreciate the feedback!
Great video informative.
Thanks David. Tool Truck Jerky I assume costs $50 but has a full replacement warranty....Lol.
Mine you I buy $8.00 jerky at Love’s so I guess I can’t say much
I like to leave my work boots at work
No reason to drag those oily dirty boots home
Plus it is good to change shoes
Mine come off at the door when I get home and one thing I have noticed that they don’t seem to track anything like some other shoes.
