I just wanted to say as a person with borderline that there has to more access to different types of help besides DBT. Especially people who have been suffering with this disorder for a long time to be able to receive the right help for them individually. I believe there needs to be some studies on being empathic and having this disorder. Because of the sensitivity, we are empathic. We can read faces and we can read moods and feel energy. We care very much about other people and are very passionate. It is only when we get triggered and lose control of our emotional disregulation that we appear, hateful, cruel, and sensitive and selfish. We are not able to regulate our emotions during these extremely rampant rages of anger. In all reality when we come down off of our rage we feel so much shame and guilt it's just a double whammy.

Absolutely, DBT to me is overrated

Thank you for speaking out and speaking the mind of many of us as I am sure that many of us can relate. . At the most we as we are going through it every day who we are and we are quite a number. I hope moving forward with more widespread awareness and scientific research we can break the stigma and at some point gain greater understanding and acceptance from society. However and I have to say it straight forward one has to accept oneself first. Behaviors can be modified indeed. However the deeper healing lays in the acceptance of what it is at the moment to manage and hopefully learn skills and gain more insight with therapy as a life’s journey goes on to learn how to fundamentally integrate that into the experience of oneself. Of a life with oneself and others. At any rate the pledge shall always be to not do harm to oneself and others. The ultimate obstacle of a life when one suffers from this disorder. Self sabotaging in experience yet so auto present in the perception of emotional pain/distinctive to perceived or imagined harm from oneself and others. It’s a feeling disorder. An attachment dysfunction that is partly inherit wether by generational subsequent trauma or by bio social influences or practically both.
At the most I am here to realize that this might be a good resource for me to start to really dig into the deep course of learning and gaining growth. Insight. For everyone’s sake.

People with BPD think they can read, but most of the time read completely wrong. Its simply called hypervigilance. And the empathy is mostly part of projective identification. When you push onto others your disowned aspects, and then empathise with them.

Just to add to this, there has been a lot of studies about this. And the outcome is that people with BPD has diminished capabilities for empathy. Not enhanced. Its not a superpower.

Large variety of specific genetic, brain, and hormonal influences can be found in scientific research for an example a paper published in 2019 on neuro endocrinological aspect of bpd.
The heritability factor appears to be fairly high in twin studies, over 40%.
While other researchers focus on gene identification in regards to genetic influences of bpd, such as chromosome 9, or D2 dopamine receptor, comt, among others, and finally 5-HTT polymorphisms found to be overlap in bpd, bipolar disorder, unipolar depression, and post traumatic stress disorder.
On the side note, 5-HTTLPR, and 5htt is in association with narcissistic pd and antisocial pd as well, in fact, these specific genes associated to the entire cluster B group.
Further recent significant finding of genetic, epigenetic and neuro imaging research recognised correlations in Maoa low activity enzyme in relation to antisocial pd, while increased Maoa vntr activity in regards to borderline pd. It's the very first scientific evidence of the importance of Maoa gene related to both disorders and in what degree.
The genetic and epigenetic factors needed to be mentioned, because borderline pd is an example of gene- environmental interaction.
The Manifestation of emotional dysregulation itself, not exclusively related to childhood and parenting problems, and furthermore wrongly associated to attachment development and relational dysfunction, just by the cause of environmental influences. In other words, Childhood maltreatment not requirement or the result of bpd
For instance 30% of the variance in ptsd caused by genetics alone. Panic and generalised anxiety disorders and ptsd shared 60% of the same genetic variance.
Therefore there is a recognisably large association in both case, such as the genetic inheritance of ptsd, and anxiety

Would an fMRI help with a diagnosis of differences in types of disorders or in diagnosing a mixture of disorders? Going to a psychiatrist that gives a wrong diagnoses and putting a person on inappropriate meds can be very harmful and traumatizing as the disorder.
