One of my best friends was diagnosed with Chrons back in 2008, watching him go through it was painful for me, and that’s not even a scratch on what he was going through
It’s complete bullshit, a hideous thing to live with, and living with it is absolutely crap, congrats for doing as well as you do, and best of luck with dealing with it in the future, it’s really cool to see you doing so much while dealing with such a bastard of a disease

Kieran Monachopsis thank you so much dude, it’s a pain in the arse .. literally 😜 but I don’t want it to break al the great opportunities around me, but as long as I make sacrifices with food, exercise and routine I can manage it and hopefully keep it under control.. thanks dude it’s weird talking about it because I never have and seeing lots of support is awesome 😊😊

Can’t believe I’ve never seen you at Underground! I was there almost daily for the last year. It’s amazing that you have this but no one could tell before! Thanks for all the inspiration!

Hello there! I've been watching your channel like crazy because I really want to learn and try different things. I think it's cool that you share that part of your life and I hope you're doing well with that.
    Greetings from Colombia!

    awesome stuff Damo!
Well done for speaking openly about Crohn's disease! I'm glad you deal with it so maturely; ie talking about routine ect. Great stuff - I like how it got really personal for a vlog!!
Keep it up - have a good one in Reykjavik!!!

Thanks Luke, I want to try and mix in the music industry stuff with my life so it has more of a story if you can keep me posted on your thoughts and if you think its getting to life and not enough musician help that would be ace!

It is amazing how much diet and exercise really can alleviate or exacerbate symptoms of any ailment or illness. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and among the MANY issues that this invisible illness creates, digestive issues are one minor part. But those issues, and other issues like muscle and joint pain, improper nerve function, inflammation, etc. are heavily effected by what I put into my body, both in terms of food and physical and mental fitness.
I have a gluten intolerance, a dairy intolerance, and problems absorbing vitamins correctly, so I have to be very mindful of my diet. I am also hypermobile, so I also have to be mindful of how I work out. Being so busy (working, being in a band, being a writer, etc.) makes it difficult to eat well, work out, and meditate as much as I'd like to as well, but I have never been one who backed down from a challenge. ;) haha To me, it is all about finding what works for YOU though - your life, your body, your time, your budget... Looks like you are doing that well with your trainer and prepared meals. That is great!
Thank you for sharing a little bit about your struggles and your life. It is important and helpful, especially for people like me who deal with chronic illness, but still want to be successful in music and in life. Sometimes chronic illness can feel like a death sentence, but our lives are NOT over! Our illness does not OWN us. We can dream and achieve, just like anyone else.
Peace and Love to you, Damo! Keep these videos coming!

Meagan, I have just been checking out EDS as I hadn't heard of it. It's inspiring to see how you are still so positive in your videos. Loving the vids and I think you should get some more regular ones of you chatting and getting your story across of you as an artist/songwriter :) x

    • @MeaganEarls
      @MeaganEarls 7 лет назад +1

Thanks a lot! I appreciate that! It is wonderful when people take time to learn about things that matter to, and have impacts on the lives of, others. (Especially when it's EDS! haha)
I also appreciate your compliments on my videos and the encouragement to create more and share my story. My main focus is on my band (Odds Fish) right now, but that doesn't mean that I will never do solo, singer/songwriter work again; I will keep what you said in mind. (And I should probably utilize the same ideas with my band's RUclips channel anyway! haha)
Thanks for replying to my comment, for keepin' it real, and for creating useful, helpful, educational, and entertaining content. I know I'm not part of your main demographic, being that I am female, 33, and from Michigan, but I thoroughly enjoy what you do (and try to make use of much of what you say in what I do for my band) and I just want you to know that you ROCK!
      Rock on!!! :)

I actually started watching your videos only a few days ago because I'm a young musician looking for real advice on music marketing (I have like no clue, lol), and I was hooked from the start. I really appreciate what you do. But that's not the reason why I'm commenting today. My dad has had Crohn's for the last... idk how long, but long before I was born, and at the beginning he dropped to about 130, maybe 150 pounds - and he's 6 foot 3, to give perspective. I've lived my whole life watching him deal with it and slightly fearing developing it myself (15% chance, I believe), and let me just say he takes pretty much the opposite approach as you (not staying fit, not eating amazingly, although I love health and fitness so I've tried to keep an eye on him). Tomatoes, especially if they're cooked, are terrible for him, and the dairy thing (and pizza!) is definitely real. There are some days that can be bad, but he has it pretty moderately compared to others (like you), although I think he makes it worse since he works really hard and his job is very stressful. He swears eating a bit of dark chocolate and some blueberries every day helps him, though, and he takes natural digestive aids. But I just wanted to comment because I know how crippling it can be and I think it's really amazing that you can work and accomplish as much as you do while staying in shape, staying positive, and especially at the level that you have it. Keep it up! :)

I had a friend with this. He spent a lot of time with tubes down his throat, even at school. Always wished I could do something to help. I myself have horrendous gastric reflux and spend most of my time throwing up. I totally feel you on this one Damo. Hope it doesn't get you down too much man.

    • @DamianKeyes

Hey Damo, love the videos. I know this video is a bit old, but just wanted to drop in and say that one of the guys in the band suffered from Cholitus for many years, including going through having a colostomy bag, do you ever find that sometimes your flare ups ever change depending on food? For him one day Orange Juice would set him off and then the next day it would be Apple Juice with OJ not having any effect whatsoever.
    Loving the vids!

Hey Damo, I feel for you man. I have a sleep disorder which, whilst not any way near as bad as crohn's, can be debilitating at times, and there are days when I can't get out of bed. It's good to see that this has not stopped you in anyway, and that makes you even more inspirational. Also #60minwin Skype please
