Purple Bell Vine grown from seed in late winter, seedling growth progression, hardening off, planting into hanging basket and monthly growth progression video.
Thank you for posting this… especially all of the various stages from seeding, to seedlings all through to the final days of that beautiful vine. I will give this a shot, despite many saying it can be difficult to sprout and maintain. I like the details (dates, types of soil blends and adjustments) you’ve provided, even as the vine was slightly struggling. I find many gardening sites don’t often follow up, your work is really helpful here! 😍
Thank you, so much for this video! I just ordered the Purple Bell Vine plant, last week, because I was unsuccessful trying to grow it from seed. I know a lot of people have the same issue, from the reviews, that I've read. Your video is very much appreciated!
Where did you buy your vine? I too have been unsuccessful growing from seed. I bought a start years ago at a school plant sale and would love to find one again!
So glad this showed up in my RUclips feed! I'm growing PBV for the first time this year. Just bought the seeds a couple weeks ago, then was told by an experienced grower that she had a hard getting them to germinate. Maybe she didn't soak the seeds overnight? Nonetheless, this is reassuring and helpful! I love that you carried us through the whole season. So often gardening videos leave you wondering how things turned out in the end.
@@paulaparr9370 Hi Paula, no heat mat, just put a cover over, and remember not to cover the seed with soil, they need light to germinate, and they take a long time. About 4 weeks. Lift the cover every now and again and make sure soil is always moist. Also once the seedlings germinate, remove the cover gradually. As soon as I see green, I tilt the cover overnight then tilt a bit more then remove completely. Hope this makes sense. Good luck, wishing you much success!
New to your channel and impressed. What a beautiful video, and I appreciate the step-by-step documentation of your PBV process (to the bitter end). I started a batch of seedlings about a month ago. Germination happened (no soaking, 3/4" cell blocks, with heat mat and LED lights), the growth is very slow, but I'm hopeful after seeing your amazing success.
Hi there, Thank you! The one in the background by the fence is top planted with angel wing begonias, bottom planted with Mezzo Trailing red. (I posted a RUclips short on this basket). Hope this is the one you were referring to. Thanks for watching!
Hi there, they are called deep root trainers. Multiple online stores sell them, even Amazon. Here is a link, www.gardenersedge.com/deep-rootrainer/p/DRT900?gad_source=4&gclid=Cj0KCQiAy9msBhD0ARIsANbk0A_Ip37W2nxyqZM8iMkLcwLAKizwUdmzSznWXOFaVB6belaAj6h6RQYaAt6zEALw_wcB
Mine didn't look as full as yours when i tried. Did you pinch yours? They are gorgeous. I am now waiting for my seeds for my 2nd try to germinate. Fingers crossed.

Hi there, no I did not pinch them. Once it got hot outside they just took off. Wishing you much success.
